Chapter 352: Fairy Fox: The Recollection Chapter: Act II
Bai Wei had never experienced being pinned down on a bed before.
Now, facing a beautiful fox spirit with six tails, he felt a fleeting flutter in his heart.
The fox spirit’s threatening demeanor, with its sharp fangs exposed, didn’t inspire fear. Instead, it resembled a cute and alluring magical wolf with bristling fur.
Bai Wei opened his palm.
“Can you let go of me?”
“No,” the fox spirit squinted her eyes. “What’s wrong? Are you starting to feel something?”
“I found it.”
“Oh?” The fox spirit seemed surprised at how quickly he admitted it. “What kind of feeling? Comfortable? Refreshing? Oh, I get it now—you like being passive, don’t you?”
Bai Wei’s eyelid twitched.
Jingūji chuckled.
“Oh, an inexperienced young man. Have you ever witnessed the magic of an immortal fox? Would you like to try? Although I’m currently using a temple maiden’s body, I’m still her, and she wouldn’t mind. I guarantee you’ll be amazed.”
Bai Wei spoke flatly, “Doesn’t that mean you’d die right away?”
“Under the peony flowers, one dies, right?” the fox spirit teased. “Let me fully drain you. Once it’s an established fact, even Yagyū Simozi will…”
Without hesitation, Bai Wei slammed his head forward, causing Jingūji to stagger back. He then grabbed the fox spirit and tossed her onto the hospital bed.
Smoothing his clothes, he said, “You thought I wouldn’t fight back just because I was being polite? Don’t underestimate me. That headbutt was just a warning. Next time, I’ll use more force. Don’t take advantage of me. Haven’t you heard? There are fewer boys than girls these days, making us more precious.”
The fox spirit lay on the bed, retracting her six tails, and bit her finger.
“Do you know what you just missed?”
“I don’t know, and I don’t care.”
“Hmph! You’re as stubborn as a platypus’ bill.”
“If everyone regretted what they didn’t do, life would have no meaning,” Bai Wei replied calmly. “I’m destined to marry a woman who’ll bear eight children at once. Since you don’t meet that requirement, don’t even think about seducing me.”
The fox spirit flushed with anger and patted the bed furiously.
“How dare you! You’ve stirred up trouble! You’ll regret provoking me!”
Bai Wei smirked.
“Then bring it on. Show me what you’ve got. Right now, you’re too weak. Maybe learn a thing or two from Su Daji.”
The fox spirit looked as though she might pounce, but instead, she hugged her knees and leaned against the bed.
“Who do you think caused this? I’ve wasted my whole life on you! Do you know how rare it is to find another fox spirit like me in the whole world?”
“So…” Bai Wei trailed off.
“I shouldn’t have bothered you?” she exclaimed indignantly. “Do you think I enjoy this?”
“Are you unhappy?” Bai Wei asked.
The fox spirit pointed at him.
“Unhappy? I’m more than willing! I endure it, relish it, and am completely engrossed in it. I’m determined to torment you for generations. Let’s see who breaks first!”
Bai Wei sighed.
“Are you done? Can I beg for mercy now?”
“In your dreams!”
Bai Wei sat on the bed, frustrated.
“Is this really necessary?”
“Absolutely!”
Bai Wei slowly nodded, hesitant but resigned.
“I suppose it’s not impossible.”
The fox spirit smirked.
“You think this is begging for mercy?”
“What else would it be?”
The fox spirit sneered.
“Listen carefully. I’m not like Hokusinn Kichyō or Yagyū Simozi. I take what I want. If you won’t give it willingly, I’ll take it by force.”
…And that’s why Bai Wei found interactions with beings like her exhausting.
“Let’s talk seriously,” he said, cutting off the banter.
“I don’t want to!” she snapped.
“If you don’t, I’ll leave.”
“Go ahead! Can you bear to leave Jingūji in trouble?”
“She’s neither my relative nor my lover,” Bai Wei replied coldly. “Why should I care?”
The fox spirit looked worried.
“The first time, at Far East University. The second, in Osaka’s mountains. The third, in Shikoku Town—ah, stubborn as ever.”
“Enough!” Bai Wei shouted, irritated.
The fox spirit softened her tone.
“Life is short, Bai Wei. If you like someone, just admit it.”
“Is it useful? Can it wake her up?” Bai Wei asked bluntly.
“Maybe. If I connect with her spirit, I might be able to awaken her.”
Bai Wei’s skepticism grew, but he held her hand as she reluctantly allowed him entry.
“What if I broke in by force?” he challenged.
The fox spirit’s smile turned mischievous.
“Try me.”
With that, Bai Wei felt himself drifting into sleep, her voice a soft whisper in his ear:
“Sleep peacefully… and meet me again.”
