Chapter 293: Rebel, Are You Trying to Drive Me Crazy?
Judy never had the habit of admiring her figure in the mirror. But recently, after buying a few sets of new lingerie, she thought it would be a shame not to wear them. Over time, she found herself accustomed to gazing at her reflection, appreciating her appearance.
The desire to look beautiful is universal, and if one learns to love their own beauty, why should they care about others’ opinions?
Yet, she couldn’t help but wonder: would this lead her to become vain? The thought lingered, but she quickly dismissed it. Her body hadn’t changed much; her reflection in the mirror still looked striking. But as she pinched her stomach, she noticed it wasn’t as firm as before.
Her toned muscles were still visible, though not as defined as they once were. Body management had always been one of her mother’s strict teachings. Judy’s mother demanded nothing short of perfection—fair skin, long legs, and a slender waist, all with no room for flaws.
However, since moving out, Judy had stopped attending body-shaping classes and lost touch with the runway models who had once inspired her.
Bodies are delicate, she mused. Neglect them, and they neglect you in return.
She stared at her reflection, pondering. Perhaps she should add some independent training sessions. Judy’s discipline was strong, and she had years of experience in exercising on her own. Yet, she understood that working out alone could only take her so far. Frustration began to bubble up.
In the past, she barely glanced at herself in the mirror. Now, she found herself paying more attention—even though no one else was there to notice.
Human nature truly is complex, isn’t it?
Just as she reached for her clothes, a voice interrupted her thoughts.
“The underwear is nice.”
Startled, Judy let out a small cry, her body instinctively tensing. As she bent down, her toned thighs and graceful waist created an elegant silhouette.
“And your figure is nice too,” Bai Wei added casually.
“When did you get here, Mr. Devil?” Judy asked, her tone calm but with a hint of delight.
“Not long ago. Don’t worry—I saw the entire process of you changing.”
Judy raised an eyebrow. “Shouldn’t you deny seeing it at this moment?”
Bai Wei smirked. “If I said I didn’t see it, wouldn’t you feel disappointed?”
Judy paused for a moment before responding. “You act as if I’m an open book. What’s your verdict?”
“Better than the Protein Queen,” Bai Wei quipped.
“I never aimed to make myself all muscle,” Judy retorted. “A woman’s body should have soft, balanced lines, not excessive sharpness. Our lineage doesn’t prioritize brute strength.”
“You’re wielding a knight’s heavy sword,” Bai Wei pointed out.
Judy picked up her weapon, explaining, “The Bloodflame Sinblade of Aphrodite isn’t as heavy as it looks. Its magic alters the shape, enhancing sharpness rather than weight. Concentrated bloodflame flows like a chainsaw, increasing cutting power.”
“Have you considered using gravity magic?” Bai Wei suggested. “You focus too much on magical control but lack decisive swordsmanship. Yesterday’s battle showed hesitation in your endurance. That’s why you took risks.”
Judy hesitated. “How did you know?”
Bai Wei smiled knowingly. “Do you forget who taught Michelle a lesson?”
Ignoring her question, he continued, “Your tactic—trading injury for victory—worked this time. But relying on it as a trump card won’t suffice. The draw wasn’t to discredit your efforts but to remind you that constant improvement is key.”
Sharp as his critique was, Judy remained composed. She sat on her bed, pulling on her stockings. “I know my strength is lacking. But Mr. Devil paying attention to me? That’s a pleasant surprise.”
“It’s not attention, merely an observation,” Bai Wei replied.
Judy smirked. “Then I suppose
Michelle is your masterpiece,
and I’m just a side project?”
“That’s one way to see it,” Bai
Wei admitted.
Judy fastened the last button
on her shirt and rose. “Young
women showing off their
figures—consider it a gift for
you, Mr. Devil.”
Bai Wei sighed, his expression
unreadable. “You’re not
making it easy to deal with a
devil, are you?”
Judy chuckled and followed
him outside. “So, where are
we going today?”
“To the library,” Bai Wei
declared.
“For what?”
“Research,” Bai Wei answered,
already leading the way.
As they walked, Judy pondered
his cryptic demeanor. She
knew there was more to Bai
Wei than he revealed. In the
library, they searched for
historical records and magic
systems. For Judy, these
moments with Bai Wei,
however challenging, were
lessons she wouldn’t trade.
Bai Wei, however, silently
reflected on the lost magical
techniques of the past. Nine
methods had disappeared
from even the most well-
preserved systems.
What kind of rebel could leave
such a legacy of chaos?
