Chapter 14: No Title
I didn’t really see much of the movie tonight, as I slept soundly leaning on Le Ya’s shoulder the entire time.
When the movie ended, Le Ya held my hand and groggily led me out.
At this hour, there were fewer people on the commercial street, not as many as when we first arrived.
We picked up a few snacks from some food stalls to take back with us.
I’m currently staying in Dormitory South 6, while Le Ya lives in Dormitory South 9.
Although they’re generally in the same direction, there’s a corner along the way where we’ll have to part ways.
Le Ya offered to walk me to my dorm first, worrying that it might be unsafe for me to walk alone at night.
I quickly declined, how could I let a girl walk me home? As a man, I should be the one seeing her back safely.
But she was insistent and held my hand, walking me all the way back to South 6.
After saying goodbye with a smile, I dragged my tired self back to the dorm.
As soon as I opened the door, I heard a spirited, high-pitched voice.
“Everyone, if you haven’t yet followed, please hit that follow button! A new streamer needs your support.”
!?
What was the boss up to?
There was Shuo Yan, who had set up the microphone she bought back when she was a streamer, with the screen showing the game interface of “League of Legends”.
The Loli with short brown hair was happily commentating on her gameplay with a cheerful smile, while typing frantically on the keyboard with her fingers.
Uh, didn’t the boss say in the afternoon that she wouldn’t live stream with her current body? She even refuted my suggestion with a shy look on her face.
Looks like the saying “too good to resist” holds true after all.
I carefully closed the door, keeping my movements quiet so as not to disturb Shuo Yan’s live stream.
The fourth brother Su Guo was quietly sitting with headphones on, listening to music and reading a book—looking every bit the refined lady.
To my surprise, neither of them noticed that I’d come back. Honestly, these two airheads wouldn’t even notice if a thief walked in.
I sat down in my seat, idly playing on my phone.
After a while, Shuo Yan finally finished her game, proudly showing off to the chat.
“Heh heh! See that? KDA 13.6, 16 kills, MVP again! Now, how about that rocket from the big boss who said he’d send one?”
“Haha, thank you to ‘Found Money Today’ for the rocket! Big boss, you’re awesome!”
Hearing Shuo Yan say this in her adorable Loli voice, I couldn’t help but grin.
“Brother Yan, Sister Yan, you’re too cute like this, hahaha!”
Hearing me, Shuo Yan realized I was back and sitting next to her.
She quickly muted her mic, whispering urgently, “Shhh! Quiet, second brother. I only have the mic on, not the camera. If those viewers realize you’re here, they’ll definitely try to get you to play with me.”
I was about to agree, but it was too late.
The chat was already filled with a flood of strange messages.
[Did I just hear another cute girl’s voice?]
[Is that the streamer’s roommate? Can you turn on the camera, so we can take a look?]
[Does the streamer’s friend know how to play games too? Can you two play in a duo?]
[Oh no, I’m melting! I need to hear her voice again!]
…
“Eh, don’t worry about them, just a bunch of freeloaders, hmph!”
Shuo Yan brushed it off, not obliging the chat.
She didn’t want her stream to affect me, so she refrained from asking me to join.
But then the top supporter, “Found Money Today”, spoke up.
[If the streamer can bring over the girl who just spoke, I’ll send another rocket.]
A simple message, but it radiated generosity.
Shuo Yan, who had been ignoring the chat just moments before, froze. She gave me an embarrassed smile.
“Heh… heh heh. second brother, can you do me a favor? I’ll treat you to a big meal next time, okay?”
I sighed, fully expecting the little money-grubber to rope me into this.
What else could I do? When the boss asked, I had no choice.
I powered up my laptop, logged in, and joined her team.
After inviting me, Shuo Yan selected jungle and queued up.
I was just here to wing it, so I casually joined in, trying not to overthink it.
The mic that had just been turned off was now on again, and the cheerful brown haired Loli introduced me to the chat.
“The one playing with me is our dorm’s most adorable cutie, so everyone, please don’t scare her off!”
Then Shuo Yan moved the mic closer to me, signaling with her eyes for me to say something.
“Ah, haha… Hi everyone! I’m Xiao Li. Happy to duo with Sister Yan.”
Not knowing what else to say, I shyly greeted the chat, then quickly moved the mic away.
[Ahhh, I’m gonna die of cuteness!]
[Such a sweet voice! Could you call me Onii-chan?]
[I’m losing it, I’m going to die in this stream today!]
…
With more and more strange comments flooding in, Shuo Yan’s viewership began to climb.
“Thank you to the boss, “Found Money Today”, for the second rocket! Much appreciated!”
Hearing Shuo Yan’s increasingly cheerful voice, I could almost see the little money-grubber wagging her tail in joy.
Then, with a sound transition, we entered the character selection screen.
Shuo Yan was jungle, and unsurprisingly, I was assigned as support.
During champion select, chat kept spamming for Shuo Yan to switch roles with the ADC so we could go bot together for more “content.”
But the ADC refused, saying they only knew how to play ADC, not jungle.
Since Shuo Yan was just a small-time streamer, she couldn’t push them. Plus, it was understandable.
“No worries, I’ll carry this game and stomp the bot lane, alright?”
Shuo Yan said confidently, and I trusted that she had the skills to back it up.
After all, with her Master-tier skills, playing in our Platinum game should be a breeze, right?
Shuo Yan picked Nidalee, and I was last pick, so I locked in Nautilus, waiting for the others to confirm their picks.
Nautilus and Nidalee can easily gank, as long as Shuo Yan’s Nidalee gets fed, this game is practically over.
But what surprised me was that our 3rd pick, the ADC, chose Yuumi?!
I was baffled. I’d already locked in Nautilus, so why were they picking Yuumi? What kind of strategy was this?
[Oops, sorry, wrong pick. Let’s swap, so I’ll play Yuumi, and you take ADC. Don’t worry, I’ll carry. Just follow my lead.]
Seeing the enemy pick Blitzcrank, he immediately asked me to choose Ezreal.
But as I glanced at his username, I felt a bit uneasy—[If you don’t help me, I’ll send you away].
