Chapter 6: Junior Brother, Your Thoughts Are Quite Dangerous
When Ji Yang reached the clear pool at the foot of the mountain, he was shocked by his own appearance and style.
After a year, he looked so haggard.
After tidying himself up a bit, Ji Yang prepared himself and set off toward the center of the sect.
He Dao Sect has a total of Twelve Peaks, which form a large semicircle. At the center lies the main hall of He Dao Sect and various daily facilities.
However, this world was vast, much larger than he had imagined. When he roamed the land searching for opportunities to become an immortal, he traveled for a month without encountering a single household and almost starved on the road.
He Dao Sect also occupies a wide area; Ji Yang didn’t know exactly how big it was, but a year ago, when Ye Wuchen took him flying to Jingtan Peak, it took several minutes, indicating the distance involved.
Ji Yang could not fly; for now, he could only walk. In the sky, flying swords whizzed by, spiritual beasts darted overhead, and airships drifted along, making Ji Yang feel envious.
With quick strides, Ji Yang finally arrived at the center of He Dao Sect after half an hour.
Due to the many buildings, he hadn’t even reached the external affairs office when he saw quite a few disciples dressed in blue robes. On the cuffs of their blue robes was the emblem of the outer disciples of He Dao Sect.
This was something everyone received as part of the sect’s newcomer gift pack. However, Ji Yang had left too early and hadn’t had time to come back for it.
The purpose of Ji Yang’s trip down the mountain was twofold: first, to collect the newcomer gift pack, and second, to find a place to experiment with his special ability.
Since Ye Wuchen did not allow it, he decided to come secretly.
If the special ability proved useless, he would prepare to cultivate diligently on Jingtan Peak for five hundred years.
Although he also wanted to see this bustling world, life came first. Once his cultivation level improved, he wouldn’t have to be afraid anymore.
Ji Yang casually asked an outer disciple for directions to the external affairs office and quickly found the place.
When Ji Yang arrived at the external affairs office, he saw countless people lining up to wait.
Ji Yang joined the queue as well.
But after thinking for a moment, Ji Yang decided to ask if he was in the right place; it would be bad to stand in the wrong line.
With that in mind, Ji Yang tapped the shoulder of the outer disciple in front of him:
“Brother, may I ask if this is where the new disciples collect their resources?”
The tapped disciple turned around, surprised at Ji Yang, but when he heard the question, a warm smile appeared on his face:
“Junior Brother, yes, this is the place!”
“My name is Wang He. What do you call yourself, Junior Brother?”
Seeing the warm attitude of this senior, Ji Yang sighed at how good the environment of the righteous sect was and replied:
“Brother, my surname is Ji.”
Ji Yang did not reveal his full name; his talent was too remarkable, and he suspected the sect might have heard about him. It would be safer to keep a low profile for now.
“Oh, so you’re Junior Brother Ji! If I’m not mistaken, you must have joined the sect only last year, right?”
Ji Yang clasped his fists and said:
“That’s right, I just entered, and I hope Brother will take care of me.”
Hearing Ji Yang’s compliment, Wang He, who was at the third level of Qi Refinement, smiled broadly and nodded:
“Of course, no problem.”
But the next moment, Wang He’s smile faded a bit. He lowered his head and curiously asked Ji Yang, “I heard the sect recruited three genius disciples last year, two with exceptional talents, and one with Talent Jealousy? Since you are part of that group, you must know quite a bit, right?
“I, Senior Brother, have been in seclusion all of last year and just came out. Please tell me about them, Junior Brother.”
Ji Yang paused for a moment. After he successfully tested his aptitude, Ye Wuchen took him away, so he wasn’t very clear about the later events. However, hearing there were three genius disciples, it seemed another had emerged.
Ji Yang hesitated for a moment, then replied, “I know a little.”
“Quick, tell me about the three of them.”
Wang He looked at him with interest.
Before Ji Yang could respond, another outer disciple’s voice rang out from behind:
“I know some news! Among the two with exceptional talents, one is male and one is female. The girl’s name is Lu Wuxue, and she joined Wangxia Peak, while the boy is named Lei Ming, and he joined Denglong Peak.”
“As for the one with Talent Jealousy, it seems his name is Ji Yang, and he joined Jingtan Peak! However, there hasn’t been much news about him lately. I heard he’s been in seclusion at Jingtan Peak.”
“So, did I get anything wrong, Senior Brother?”
After finishing, the outer disciple turned his gaze to Ji Yang.
“Um, you really have your ears to the ground, Senior Brother!”
Ji Yang nodded in praise.
“So that person is called Ji Yang. What a coincidence that you share the surname Ji!”
Wang He looked at Ji Yang strangely but did not believe this junior disciple was the one with Talent Jealousy, as Ji Yang did not resemble the talented figure he had in mind.
Ji Yang remained silent, while Wang He continued talking:
“Tsk tsk, what a pity he ended up at Jingtan Peak.”
Ji Yang couldn’t help but ask, “What do you mean by that, Senior Brother?”
“Hey, Junior Brother, you might not know, but each of the Twelve Peaks of He Dao Sect has its advantages. However, Jingtan Peak is the exception.”
“There’s only one person at Jingtan Peak—Peak Master Ye. He is known for his love of alcohol and is not very prominent in the sect. Moreover, he has never taken any disciples. Every year, all the training resources in the sect are used to buy wine, leaving the peak with scarce resources. I heard that to attract disciples, Peak Master Ye even exchanged the resources for the next fifty years!”
“This way, even if the genius has exceptional talent, it would be very tough to cultivate, and soon they might be surpassed by the other two with exceptional talents.”
“Ahem, Junior Brother, be cautious. We shouldn’t speak about the Peak Master’s matters.”
Another disciple interrupted, and Wang He quickly realized his mistake and refrained from saying more.
In contrast, Ji Yang sighed, finding the situation worse than he had imagined. However, now that he had joined Jingtan Peak, he couldn’t withdraw, especially since his master seemed quite capable.
The line moved steadily forward, and Ji Yang took this opportunity to ask his lingering question.
“Excuse me, Senior Brother Wang, may I ask if there are any mining resources in the sect?”
“Of course! He Dao Sect is a righteous sect, and there are countless precious mining resources beneath it, including three mines for crafting flying swords. Why do you ask this, Junior Brother?”
Hearing this news, Ji Yang felt excited.
He was interested in mining precious resources but was unsure about the efficiency. He had to give it a try.
With that in mind, Ji Yang asked again, “May I ask, Senior Brother, how can one go about mining?”
Wang He was taken aback for a moment, then looked at Ji Yang in surprise. The outer disciple behind him also wore a face of astonishment.
Seeing their strange expressions, Ji Yang frowned and asked, “Is that not allowed?”
“It’s not that it isn’t allowed, but Junior Brother, this idea is quite dangerous!”
“Here, take a look. The methods for mining are all in here. However, I advise you not to think about mining, as it isn’t all that glorious!”
After saying this, both Wang He and the disciple behind him shivered slightly, their eyes showing a hint of fear.
