Chapter 24: Took Everything
After returning to the sect, Ji Yang began to think about where to go next.
Back to Jingtan Peak?
He immediately dismissed that idea.
Once he returned to Jingtan Peak, Ye Wuchen would likely require him to focus on intense cultivation.
However, after experiencing the benefits of mining, Ji Yang no longer wanted to undergo hard training; there was nothing as satisfying as mining!
So returning to Jingtan Peak was definitely not an option.
Since Ye Wuchen had not come looking for him yet, he decided to enjoy some free time in the sect and wait for Ye Wuchen to find him later.
After some hesitation, Ji Yang finally decided to first visit the Scripture Pavilion to observe some spells!
The majority of the offensive techniques that cultivators at the Qi Refinement stage could master mainly involved spells.
Although there were various other offensive methods, such as talismans, artifacts, and formations, spells formed the foundation—they represented a cultivator’s own strength, unaffected by external objects.
Essentially, every cultivator had their own understanding of spells.
Moreover, conjuring a fireball from thin air sounded incredibly exciting!
The Scripture Pavilion, as one of the key buildings of the sect, was located at its center, and disciples came and went continuously every day.
As Ji Yang made his way, he saw countless disciples, including many inner disciples, who were cultivators at the Foundation Establishment stage.
Although Ji Yang had a bit of a reputation in the sect, it was mostly just an empty title, and not many people recognized him, so there was little chance of running into trouble along the way.
In fact, the orthodox sect was quite friendly, or at least it appeared that way.
“Outer disciples may enter the Scripture Pavilion for half an hour with a cost of ten contribution points.”
“You can only enter the first floor of the Pavilion!”
“Copying spells and books is not allowed!”
“If you wish to transcribe, each spell or book requires an additional ten contribution points!”
Before even entering the Pavilion, Ji Yang was stopped by an attendant who informed him of the rules.
As an important feature of the sect, clearly, spells were not something that could be easily shared. However, ten contribution points was not a large amount.
Earlier, Elder Lu had already loaded the five hundred contribution points awarded by the sect onto Ji Yang’s identity token while on the airship.
With his financial strength, Ji Yang did not hesitate and paid ten contribution points for the first hour.
The first floor of the Scripture Pavilion was quite large, containing various formations and divided into different areas.
Ji Yang headed straight for the spell area.
Spells were generally categorized into the Five Elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. These were the commonly used elemental spells and the most widespread categories.
In addition, there were spells related to wind, thunder, electricity, and other elements, which, compared to regular Five Element spells, were rarer and more difficult to practice—not something just anyone could learn.
Each type of spell had its strengths and weaknesses; there was no absolute strongest, as it depended on the user.
Ji Yang first walked toward the water spell area and picked up a book on a spell called Small Rain Technique.
The Small Rain Technique was a beginner-level water spell that summoned a patch of dark clouds to bring rain.
This was indeed a miracle for ordinary people, but in the Cultivation World, a cultivator at the Qi Refinement stage could use such spells, though if their cultivation level was low, the effects might not be strong.
Ji Yang was very satisfied with this spell. If he had this technique while farming, it would have made things much easier, and he wouldn’t have to rely on nature for his meals!
He took it!
Then he picked up another spell.
Clean Water Technique! It could condense Qi into water, allowing him to clean himself!
Wasn’t that a divine skill? With it, he wouldn’t have to worry about his clothes being dirty or his face covered in dust; he could always look his best!
He took it!
Planting Technique! It allowed for quick planting!
He took it!
Golden Insect Technique! Quickly kill pests!
He took it!
Fireball Technique, Rock Transformation Technique, Palm Lightning, Wind Control Technique, Wood Shield Technique, God Travel Technique, Stone Armor Technique…
He took them all!
Every spell Ji Yang glanced at, he added to his collection. Although they were all beginner-level spells, each one had numerous applications that he couldn’t bear to give up.
Moreover, he had plenty of Contribution Points, so he didn’t worry about being unable to redeem them.
Ten points for each spell; aside from the hour of viewing time, he could redeem forty-nine spells in total.
As he reached the limit, Ji Yang realized he couldn’t hold onto any more, so he reluctantly gave up a few.
Meanwhile, the other outer disciples in the Scripture Pavilion who were reading books were left stunned by this scene! Then they burst into laughter:
“Where did this fool come from?”
“Ha ha ha, this is hilarious, taking so many! Does he really think he can cultivate them all?”
“It’s obvious he’s a new disciple from last year, mesmerized by the spells!”
“Does he even have that many Contribution Points? Just wait and see, he’ll soon come back empty-handed and return to his spot.”
Ji Yang, at the Tenth Level of Qi Refinement, clearly heard their whispers, but he didn’t care. He could mine while studying, so he wasn’t worried about time.
When Ji Yang walked up to the attendant at the Scripture Pavilion, holding a thick stack of spell books that towered over his head, the attendant responsible for recording the texts was taken aback for a moment.
Though he had seen similar situations before, it was a first for him to see someone take so many.
But that was not his concern.
“Excuse me, could you help me transcribe all of these?” Ji Yang said as he placed the books down in front of the attendant.
“There are a total of forty-nine spells, which will require four hundred ninety Contribution Points!”
The attendant didn’t rush to start but instead looked at Ji Yang, only to see him hidden behind the thick stack of books. He had to adjust his stance to get a better view of Ji Yang’s innocent face.
Ji Yang had only glanced at the spells but remembered their names clearly, and without hesitation, he handed over his identity token.
After the attendant took the identity token and used a special artifact to scan it, there was a hint of surprise in his eyes.
Upon seeing the Jingtan Peak on the identity token, he took another look at Ji Yang, now understanding with a slight realization.
So he was a genius; no wonder!
However, even for a genius, trying to learn so many spells was a waste of time.
Thinking this, the attendant proactively advised him,
“Young man, don’t bite off more than you can chew. I suggest you transcribe a few spells to study first, and you can come back to learn more later.”
Ji Yang smiled slightly:
“Thank you for the reminder! I still want to give it a try.”
The attendant didn’t say more and began to transcribe the spells one by one.
Ji Yang had his own thoughts—he didn’t know when he would visit the Scripture Pavilion again, and he was very busy mining, so it was best to redeem everything in one day.
Many people were left speechless when they saw Ji Yang truly planning to transcribe all the spells he collected.
However, more cultivators felt it was just a waste of Contribution Points and lost interest in watching.
While the transcribing was ongoing, Ji Yang walked towards a section called the Oddities Area.
He wanted to find some information about his own aptitude.
Originally, Ji Yang hadn’t paid much attention, but the status panel had caught his concern, so he thought it was necessary to check this information.
