Chapter 55: Elder Tai Handles Matters Fairly!
Suddenly, a thunderous roar echoed through the sky.
Following that, an elderly man in elder’s robes stepped in between the two!
The old man simply waved his hand, blocking all of Elder Li’s attacks!
“Greetings, Elder Tai!”
“Greetings, Elder Tai!”
The two elders beside him quickly bowed their heads in respect!
“This is Elder Tai, responsible for managing Feng Ling Valley!”
After the disciples paid their respects, they murmured among themselves, which informed Ji Yang of the elder’s identity.
To be in charge of such an important place as Feng Ling Valley indicated that Elder Tai held a significant position among the sect’s elders.
“What is happening?”
Elder Tai’s face showed anger as he turned his gaze toward Elder Wu and Elder Zhu!
Today was an important day for inspecting the harvest of the spiritual fields, which related not only to tasks assigned by the sect but also to the monthly cultivation resources of Feng Ling Valley.
Originally, he was an elder of Qiyun Peak, but after taking over the sect’s specific affairs, the resources for Qiyun Peak had dried up, with cultivation resources determined by the results of Feng Ling Valley each month.
Yet just now, he felt the battle of a Golden Core stage cultivator erupting within the spiritual fields!
Wasn’t this risking his life?
Upon arriving, he saw this scene; fortunately, the spiritual fields were mostly unharmed, but Elder Tai was very angry.
“Elder Tai, it’s like this…”
As the two elders recounted the events, Elder Tai’s gaze drifted to Elder Li, and his anger lessened slightly.
Elder Li had worked under him for many years; although he was somewhat extreme in his actions, Elder Tai couldn’t blame him too much.
However, upon hearing that he was fighting merely an outer disciple, Elder Tai’s expression showed a hint of surprise, and he looked over at the calm Ji Yang with doubt in his eyes.
He felt that Elder Wu and Elder Zhu were trying to fool him. This disciple appeared to be just a Fourth level of Qi Refinement outer disciple, yet the fluctuations from the battle were far more intense than a Golden Core stage cultivator’s fight.
But looking at the astonished gazes of the other punished disciples around them, it was clear that the situation was indeed as the two had described.
While it was somewhat hard to accept, having been an elder for many years, he had seen all kinds of situations!
After the surprise, he quickly regained his composure! Then, he addressed Elder Li:
“As an elder of the sect, you fought fiercely in Feng Ling Valley, especially against a junior disciple. I will punish you with three months of confinement and temporarily revoke your position as an elder!”
Elder Li wore an expression of discontent, but with Elder Tai right in front of him, he did not argue further.
Once he had dealt with Elder Li, Elder Tai turned his attention to Ji Yang. Such a talented disciple could not be without a strong background, so he asked,
“Which peak are you from?”
“Jingtan Peak.”
Elder Tai nodded upon hearing this; as long as it wasn’t Denglong Peak, he was satisfied. Though all Twelve Peaks were equal in the sect, that was merely talk.
Disciples from Denglong Peak were incredibly strong, receiving the most sect resources each year, allowing them and their elders and Peak Masters to walk wherever they liked without fear. He didn’t want to offend them too much.
Elder Tai continued,
“You openly attacked in Feng Ling Valley, showing no respect for your elders. Although this is Feng Ling Valley, it is also part of the sect. I hereby punish you to serve a year in Feng Ling Valley. Do you have any objections?”
Ji Yang’s expression remained calm, and he did not say much about the punishment. It was just an additional year of duties, which was not a big deal. It was just the right chance for him to research other spiritual grains.
The sword strike he delivered earlier also dispelled the displeasure in his heart. Elder Li’s face was still pale, and his energy was fluctuating, indicating that he was not in good condition, which brought Ji Yang more comfort.
If Elder Tai hadn’t arrived so quickly, he would have given that plump man another sword strike!
“The disciple has no objections!”
Upon hearing Ji Yang’s response, Elder Tai nodded slightly.
Although his decision appeared fair, serving a year in Feng Ling Valley meant more than just a year. Most disciples punished for three months often stretched their punishment to five or six months, let alone a full year.
He initially expected Ji Yang to resist his decision, speak out against it, or glare in anger, showing some reaction.
But seeing Ji Yang’s calm demeanor and lack of questioning led Elder Tai to hold Ji Yang in higher regard.
Once both parties had been dealt with satisfactorily, Elder Tai felt greatly satisfied. Just as he was about to speak, he noticed the expressions of the two elders beside him seemed off.
As he prepared to ask for clarification, he overheard other disciples whispering:
“Jingtan Peak! Indeed the one with Talent Jealousy!”
“No wonder he is so extraordinary; he is the personal disciple of the Peak Master!”
Although some disciples already knew, many others who were unaware looked at Ji Yang with surprise.
All doubts in their hearts disappeared!
Others were Talent Jealousy talents, geniuses, and their master was the Peak Master; wasn’t it only natural that they couldn’t compare to him?
If they also had such talent and had a Peak Master to teach them, they wouldn’t just settle for being elders they would compete fiercely!
With this thought, numerous outer disciples felt much calmer. However, the gaze they directed at Ji Yang was still tinged with envy and jealousy.
“Wait a minute, Jingtan Peak! Ye Wuchen!”
At this moment, Elder Tai suddenly realized that if Denglong Peak boasted the overall strongest capability among the Twelve Peaks, then Peak Master Ye, was the most powerful individual, achieving much in the sect, which was rare.
Perhaps many disciples were unaware of the reasons behind it, but as a sect elder, how could he not understand?
Thinking about his earlier punishment, Elder Tai’s heart raced.
What should he do?
Although Ye Wuchen seemed to adhere to sect rules—he would even nod and bow before taking action—such rules could not restrain him, especially since Ji Yang was his most recent disciple.
This made Elder Tai glare at Elder Li in frustration.
But he had already voiced the punishment, and as an elder, how could he go back on his word in front of so many people? It would be embarrassing!
Yet when he thought of Ye Wuchen again, Elder Tai’s expression changed twice; the need to maintain face didn’t matter anymore.
Just as he was about to speak, he heard the words of other disciples:
“Elder Tai is indeed Elder Tai; his handling of the matter is truly fair!”
“Indeed, there was no special treatment because of that junior brother Ji’s status. This is a blessing for our He Dao Sect!”
“If everyone in the sect could act like the elders, how could our He Dao Sect not grow strong?”
Listening to this, Elder Tai felt as if he had swallowed a mosquito; they were correct, but who said righteousness guaranteed fairness?
At this moment, Elder Wu suddenly spoke up:
“Elder Tai, this junior disciple Ji has just planted some spiritual grains, which may be beneficial to our He Dao Sect. We still need the elder to evaluate this matter…”
Elder Tai showed a hint of surprise at this remark. The two had only briefly mentioned the situation before, and the matter of the spiritual grains had been noted in passing. Seeing them bring it up specifically, it was clear the spiritual grains were indeed exceptional.
However, Elder Tai was skeptical, having seen many spiritual grains in his time. He couldn’t easily believe it would bring great benefits to the sect.
But with the situation being complex, Elder Tai thought of remedial measures and had no choice but to say,
“Hmm? Bring them here for me to see!”
