Chapter 33: Elder’s Law Transmission
In the distance, Ji Yang sensed the source of the gaze and looked in that direction.
Before him was Lei Ming’s gentle smile.
Ji Yang frowned slightly; he noticed the malice hidden beneath the youth’s warm smile, a sense that arose after he activated his Heart Sword divine ability.
But since they were strangers, where could such malice come from?
When Ji Yang saw Lu Wuxue beside him, he recalled her; he remembered her exceptional talent from when he first got the news while receiving his pill.
It was easy to guess that the person beside him was the other disciple who had been tested for exceptional talent after Ji Yang was taken away by Ye Wuchen.
He seemed to be named Lei Ming.
Ji Yang didn’t pay much attention to it; regardless of the hostility, their shared level of the Fourth level of Qi Refinement wasn’t important enough to concern him.
However, recalling that the three of them had entered the sect at the same time, Ji Yang was somewhat astonished that both of them had already reached the Fourth level of Qi Refinement.
Didn’t Ye Wuchen say he had high talent? He had been praised for reaching the First level of Qi Refinement after a year of hard training, so how could these two exceptional talents who had cultivated from the Sensing stage advance so much faster?
Were they using pills? Or did they have rare spiritual plants and grains during their Sensing stage to change their physiques?
Ji Yang quickly guessed the reason, but he was still puzzled about why Ye Wuchen never gave him any pills.
If he had enough supply, perhaps his year of hard training would have yielded a higher cultivation level. He planned to ask about this later.
But not now.
Realizing that the two of them had already reached the Fourth level of Qi Refinement, Ji Yang wondered if he had been too low-key. He prepared to break through a level in a few days.
Nothing too high, at least matching the two of them; preferably surpassing them by one level would be more reasonable.
After all, he had better qualifications than they did, and there was no reason he should fall behind them.
Ji Yang stopped focusing on them and withdrew his gaze.
At this moment, the entire Law Transmission Hall was packed to the brim, with some latecomers standing awkwardly in the corners to watch.
But not far from Ji Yang’s front, several discordant voices suddenly broke through the crowd.
“Junior brother, could you please make room for Senior Brother Kong?”
“We won’t shortchange you; here’s ten spiritual stones! Just take them and go!”
As several spiritual stones were tossed down, the disciple who occupied the front-row seat flushed red. But when he glanced up at the group surrounding him, he felt frustrated and didn’t dare to speak.
These individuals were all at a much higher level than him, seasoned seniors. The one in the middle was especially notable—Senior Brother Kong Bai, a peak outer disciple at the Tenth Level of Qi Refinement, on the verge of breaking into the Foundation Establishment stage!
He had finally managed to grab a seat, and he didn’t want to give it up!
The youth looked around for help, but everyone nearby seemed oblivious, averting their gazes, and some even remarked:
“Junior brother, Senior Brother Kong is willing to exchange spiritual stones with you; what are you hesitating for?”
“Exactly! It’s a blessing that Senior Brother Kong approached you!”
“Senior Brother Kong, if he won’t give it up, why not come over here?”
Some flatterers eagerly offered their seats.
Yet, Senior Brother Kong merely stood quietly to the side, eyes closed in meditation, not even glancing at the disciple.
The ignored disciple chuckled but didn’t dare to say more.
Seeing no one come to his aid, the young man reluctantly left his seat, not forgetting to pick up the ten spiritual stones on the ground as he walked away.
Noticing the boy’s sense, the few people around him quickly dusted off the cushions and said:
“Kong Bai, please sit!”
Kong Bai then slowly opened his eyes and sat cross-legged on the cushion.
Behind him, Ji Yang watched this scene, a smile slowly appearing on his lips.
Good! Very good!
“Elder Tang has arrived!”
“Today’s law transmission features Elder Tang from Chaoyun Peak; we are so lucky!”
As a seven-colored cloud descended from the sky, an otherworldly elder floated down from the clouds, causing a commotion among the many disciples, some showing excited fervor.
“Is this Elder Tang very famous?”
An uninformed disciple asked.
“Of course! The sect has Twelve Peaks and dozens of elders, and this Elder Tang is renowned for his skills!”
“Did you see the seven-colored auspicious cloud under Elder Tang? That’s just an ordinary cloud mist technique, but Elder Tang can use it to perfection, even walking on the clouds! Isn’t that impressive?”
Hearing the explanation, many showed expressions of admiration.
The cloud mist technique is a low-level spell from the Scripture Pavilion that many have learned, but it’s only used to confuse enemies; it has no attacking or defensive ability, and many gave up after one look. Unexpectedly, this technique could be used for flying!
Ji Yang listened intently; he had a copy of the cloud mist technique but hadn’t learned it yet.
Though he had his special ability and could advance rapidly, he was indeed a novice in spellcasting, and this trip might help him learn many useful things!
“Silence!”
Elder Tang raised one hand, and the bustling Law Transmission Hall fell silent.
Every peak’s elder was someone that ordinary disciples could only dream of meeting, and they dared not make too much noise.
“Law transmission begins; today I will teach the Fireball Technique!”
“The Fireball Technique is a low-level spell that allows one to condense magic power into a fireball…”
Elder Tang spoke while conjuring a fireball in his palm, resembling the fireball cast by an ordinary disciple.
“Spells are not unchangeable; they can transform from lifeless to animated…”
As he spoke, the fireball suddenly soared, transforming into a dragon several meters long, then into a vividly lifelike phoenix in the next moment!
An ordinary fireball technique became as natural as a fish in water in his hands, morphing into various forms, widening the eyes of the disciples.
Additionally, everyone could feel that the power increased with the transformation.
Ji Yang was no exception; he hadn’t anticipated that an ordinary spell could have so many techniques. Part of this was related to the elder’s cultivation level, but more so, it was about understanding and control over the spells!
Was this the insight of a high-level cultivator?
Originally somewhat proud, Ji Yang regained his calm; he was still in the Qi Refinement stage, and many cultivators in this world surpassed him.
It seemed he couldn’t delay the mining task any longer!
“Spells need heartfelt understanding. Talent cannot determine everything; as long as you study diligently, everyone has the opportunity to learn!”
After giving words of encouragement and advice, Elder Tang waved his sleeve and vanished into the mist!
All the disciples watched him leave, reluctantly drawing back their gazes.
Though the law transmission felt short, an entire hour had passed!
With Elder Tang’s departure, everyone began to leave the Law Transmission Hall one by one.
Many disciples stayed in their spots, still grasping the insights they had just gained!
After all, opportunities missed are not to be regained!
