Chapter 27: The New Iron Pick
Before Elder Chai finished his words, Ji Yang pulled out a large pile of flying swords from his storage bag and placed them on the ground.
“Elder Chai, is this enough?”
He had mined for half a month and saved up over forty superior flying swords. He had exchanged a large portion of them, leaving the rest in his storage bag.
The few flying swords that remained still shone with Green Light Points because Ji Yang felt that, in this state, they might prove to be very useful at certain times.
Looking at the dozens of superior flying swords at his feet and Ji Yang’s clear expression, Elder Chai swallowed the words he had yet to say and finally replied,
“It’s enough. Do you have any other requests?”
Ji Yang glanced at the iron pick on the ground, thought for a moment, and then his eyes brightened as he pointed to the pick and said,
“It would be even better if the handle were a little longer.”
Elder Chai frowned at this and imagined the iron pick for mining being made longer; wouldn’t that turn it into a hoe for digging?
Perhaps Ji Yang had other plans? Elder Chai was somewhat puzzled by Ji Yang’s intentions but still nodded,
“Not a problem. Crafting this tool will take about a day, so you can stay here during this time.”
Ji Yang nodded in agreement, and the next moment, Elder Chai took the dozens of superior flying swords and the iron pick into the adjoining room.
Seeing his magical tool beginning to be crafted, Ji Yang felt good.
With a better iron pick, he could mine faster, gain more cultivation points, and naturally become stronger.
Ji Yang looked around; it seemed this was Elder Chai’s residence, and there were no other people around. He had no idea where the crane had flown off to.
But Ji Yang did not feel bored; instead, he began to practice the spell he had just acquired.
For his first spell, he chose the Small Rain Technique, a great tool for farming, and he needed to learn it quickly.
“Clang! Clang!”
“Bang! Bang!”
The once-quiet Jixian Peak now echoed with the sounds of forging from a secluded residence.
This made many disciples within Jixian Peak gaze in confusion.
“Is that Elder Chai’s residence?”
“Has any elder come to ask Elder Chai to craft tools? I haven’t heard of it.”
Many disciples showed excitement and curiosity; it had been a long time since Elder Chai had crafted tools. Why was he suddenly in the mood to forge today?
Many disciples wanted to gather and watch but did not dare to intrude. Moreover, the formations surrounding Elder Chai’s residence kept them at bay, leaving them eager and disappointed.
Many disciples joined Jixian Peak to develop their crafting skills; their cultivation levels felt secondary.
In the Cultivation World, mastering a skill that ensures survival is respected everywhere.
It was said that disciples who had been captured by the Demonic Sect had their high cultivation levels end in tragedy, but the crafting masters or alchemists survived, showing the importance of learning a useful skill!
After a day, the forging sounds from Elder Chai’s residence gradually faded.
Ji Yang finished his practice and turned his gaze toward the door that had been opened.
At that moment, Elder Chai looked at the newly crafted elongated iron pick in his hand and sighed.
He was wise throughout his life, and he must not ruin it with the iron pick in his hands. To be safe, he had not even carved his name onto it, fearing it would lessen his prestige if others recognized it.
“It’s done, take it.”
Elder Chai quickly tossed the iron pick to Ji Yang.
Ji Yang was delighted and caught it with one hand.
But as soon as he took it in his grasp, he felt a heavy weight, and the might nearly caused him to stumble!
Yet, in the next moment, Ji Yang held it firmly.
What a treasure!
This weight was at least several hundred pounds! Mining would be no problem at all!
Elder Chai, seeing Ji Yang handle it effortlessly, was also a bit surprised.
After Ji Yang took the iron pick, he examined it closely. The pick was a deep black color, and it was hard to tell it was made from superior Xuan Iron Mine. Its design was simple—just an iron pick for mining, but the handle was indeed extended.
Ji Yang smiled with joy; this was the magical tool he wanted!
It could be used for mining and also for farming! A perfect fit!
Then Ji Yang tried digging the ground and directly turned up a handful of dirt in front of Elder Chai’s door.
Watching Ji Yang’s skilled movements, Elder Chai silently clenched his fist.
This kid was indeed using it for farming!
How foolish he had been to doubt the purpose of the longer handle!
Ji Yang then infused his magical energy into the iron pick. To maintain control over his level, Ji Yang only infused the energy of the second level of Qi Refinement.
As the magical energy poured into the pick, it emitted a soft light, and its weight increased significantly. The pick’s head shimmered with icy brilliance, clearly sharper than before, and there was no worry of it breaking in two.
“This iron… this magical tool is now a premium magical tool. Your cultivation level is too low to unleash its full power, but you will be able to use it completely once you reach the Foundation Establishment stage,” Elder Chai reminded him.
Ji Yang withdrew his magical energy and stored the iron pick in his storage bag. Although he hadn’t completely tested it, he was already very satisfied. Truly, a crafting master! The iron pick crafted was excellent!
But seeing Elder Chai’s grim expression, Ji Yang thought it wise to leave early.
“Thank you, Elder Chai. Your disciple has matters to attend to, so I won’t intrude further.”
With that, Ji Yang flicked his hand, releasing a superior flying sword, jumped onto it, and soared down the mountain!
Watching Ji Yang leave, Elder Chai could only grumble as he returned to his room.
Before long, news spread through Jixian Peak that Elder Chai had entered seclusion.
This left many disciples feeling disappointed; they hadn’t had the chance to observe Elder Chai’s latest work!
High above Jixian Peak, a figure flew on a flying sword, though the way he controlled the sword was very unskilled, wobbling side to side.
Yet after flying for a while, his speed gradually increased, and his body stabilized a lot.
This person was Ji Yang, descending the mountain. Although he had mastered the technique of controlling objects, he was still not very proficient.
The iron pick was a premium magical tool, but using the pick to fly looked quite ridiculous.
In the day he had spent on Jixian Peak, Ji Yang had successfully mastered several spells, such as the Small Rain Technique, Clean Water Technique, God Travel Technique, Fireball Technique, Planting Technique, and Stone Armor Technique.
The first was for making it rain, the second for cleaning, the third for speeding up on land, the fourth for attacking, the fifth for trapping enemies, and the sixth for defense.
Though Ji Yang did not fully acknowledge his speed of cultivation, he admitted his talent for understanding spells was quite good!
Ordinary cultivators might take several months to grasp a single spell, while he managed to comprehend several in just one day. So, he specifically chose each to learn one by one.
Although his proficiency was not high and needed practice, this still surpassed more than ninety percent of others.
Ji Yang felt that not only was he quick at mastering them, but his practice also brought him rapid improvement.
Is this what genius feels like?
It feels pretty good!
