Chapter 172: Brand New Treasure

The reason for adding this material was Ji Yang’s request. He had noticed that his previous iron pick had shown signs of wear.

The main reason for this was that Ji Yang did not infuse spiritual energy into it and operated it roughly.

So this time, he had learned from experience!

"If you mark it with the primordial spirit mark, you will know how to use it," Elder Chai reminded him.

This was different from ordinary artifacts; any cultivator could simply grab an artifact and use it, but a treasure required a primordial spirit mark to control it.

This way, it could also be nurtured in his dantian to enhance its power.

Ji Yang gathered his primordial spirit and placed the mark.

Then he connected with the iron pick in his hand, moving it as easily as he moved his fingers.

In the next moment, Ji Yang infused his True Essence into it, and the iron pick instantly emitted a bright light.

A massive illusion of the iron pick appeared in his hand.

This was the projection of the treasure, which needed to be fully activated to unleash its power.

Looking at the condensed illusion of the pick, Ji Yang sighed in amazement.

With this iron pick, he wondered how many mines he could excavate.

However, using full force accelerated the flow of True Essence within him faster than normal control.

Ji Yang withdrew his spiritual energy, and the illusion faded and disappeared.

At this moment, Elder Chai reminded him again:

"I also fulfilled your previous request. I opened a hole in the grip and added a small piece of spatial stone inside. Using a special crafting method, you can store other artifacts in there and borrow their power. You can easily place several flying swords inside!"

As he spoke, Elder Chai showed a hint of pride on his face.

Only he could create such a unique crafting method within the entire sect!

Ji Yang was delighted again and opened the grip of the iron pick, revealing the space within.

Then he decisively took out the causal fishing rod from the Heaven’s Secret Pearl and placed it inside.

With this, it became a three-in-one artifact, convenient and efficient!

Watching Ji Yang put something inside, Elder Chai’s expression shifted slightly. He had initially thought Ji Yang opened the hole to store flying swords for battle benefits.

This made it worthwhile for him to focus so intently on crafting this artifact.

But he never expected Ji Yang to put a fishing rod inside!

Moreover, that fishing rod gave Elder Chai a strangely familiar feeling.

"What is that rod you just took out, Junior Brother Ji?"

"Oh, you mean this?"

Ji Yang opened the grip and retrieved the fishing rod inside, then replied:

"The causal fishing rod, huh? I remember Elder Chai used it before!"

After confirming what Ji Yang held, Elder Chai suddenly felt uneasy.

What was happening? Hadn’t he just tested the effects of this Ancient magical tool back then? Why couldn’t he shake it off now?

At that moment, Elder Chai’s expression changed, and he quickly dodged.

In the next instant, two bolts of lightning struck from the sky towards the two of them.

Ji Yang couldn’t evade in time and felt a shock, but this level of Heavenly punishment was not a threat to him.

However, seeing Elder Chai face a similar fate astonished Ji Yang.

It appeared that anyone who had used this rod would receive this BUFF; it was indeed an Ancient magical tool.

"Alright, Junior Brother Ji, I have matters to attend to, so I cannot stay for dinner!"

With that, Elder Chai closed the door and shut out guests.

Although it was clear that Elder Chai was not in a good mood, Ji Yang thanked him, adhering to the virtue of respecting the elders.

Afterward, he tested his new treasure at Elder Chai’s doorstep, till he successfully tilled two handfuls of dirt, before he happily left.

After Ji Yang departed, Elder Chai stepped out of his room and looked at the missing soil at his doorstep, quietly clenching his fists.

At the foot of the mountain, Ji Yang walked towards the gatekeepers.

Since he had promised the two earlier, he didn’t mind showing them his artifact for observation.

As for the treasure in his hand, he decided against it, thinking that given their realms, they wouldn’t be able to grasp its profound aspects; the artifact would be fine though.

However, when Ji Yang reached the original spot, he found that the two were gone, replaced by two other disciples manning the gate.

“Where did the two brothers go just now?” Ji Yang asked, confused.

Seeing Ji Yang come down from the peak, the two disciples politely replied, “We don’t know; it seems they left for other matters. We are taking over from them now.”

Ji Yang had no choice but to give up. Since the two weren’t there, he could only wait for the next chance.

At the peak, Elder Chai smiled at the two disciples before him.

“I’ve noticed that you two have been working hard lately. Just so happens, I need two helpers in my crafting room; how about you two?”

The two were overjoyed; just a moment ago, they had wanted to witness Elder Chai’s crafted artifacts, and now they had the chance to work beside him.

The sudden surprise filled them with joy; who cared about seeing artifacts when Elder Chai was right beside them?

Seeing their excitement, Elder Chai scoffed inwardly.

Fortunately, he checked in time and didn’t let Ji Yang take out that iron pick; otherwise, his reputation would have been ruined.

To keep this news under wraps, Elder Chai decided to keep the two disciples close and send them to other places in the peak in two months; that way, they wouldn’t run into Ji Yang.

After leaving Jixian Peak, Ji Yang walked toward the inner sect again.

Now everything was ready; all he lacked was a suitable opportunity for punishment!

Then he could continue his studies at the mining site.

Although he had already explored the sect extensively, according to normal development, he should go out and see the vast world, experiencing different customs and climates.

But for the sake of his own safety, Ji Yang preferred to mine within the sect!

He hoped to directly dig his way to the True Immortal realm; once he gained strength, he could go anywhere he wanted!

As for now, he just wanted to stay low for a while!

Upon arriving at the inner sect, Ji Yang began to wander around, seeking a hint of an opportunity for punishment.

Many disciples spotted Ji Yang, showing expressions of surprise and then nodding to greet him, including several who were Late Stage of Foundation Establishment!

The other disciples saw this and looked puzzled, beginning to inquire about Ji Yang’s identity.

Upon learning about Ji Yang’s recent accomplishments and talents, they all kept their distance.

A disciple who could spar with Golden Core stage cultivators and dared to confront elders was certainly not someone they could provoke.

Noticing the numerous astonished gazes, Ji Yang frowned slightly.

This was not a good situation!

But at this point, he could not change his appearance.

Moreover, with so many disciples in the sect, surely a few would have some conflicts!

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

As long as he kept hanging around the sect, there would surely be an opportunity.

“Senior Brother Ji is out again; everyone must not start any conflicts!”

“I’ve heard this senior brother loves to uphold justice and detests disciples fighting to outdo each other, especially in the outer sect!”

The strong primordial spirit energy sensed the conversations around him, leaving Ji Yang speechless.

He didn’t want that, but what could he do when the sect established punishments like this?
