Chapter 983 The Heavenly Lord’s Challenge Letter
Egypt.
The City of the Sun.
The blazing sun hung like a burning furnace above this ancient and majestic city, where brick and stone buildings stood tall reaching into the clouds, shining like gold bricks in the sunlight.
At the highest point of this Sun City, at the center of nine towering divine pillars, the ethereal figure sitting cross-legged on the solar pillar slowly opened its eyes.
His brows slightly furrowed.
“Why… is my spirit so unsettled?”
His gaze swept across the ancient city below his feet, finding nothing unusual, then lifted his eyes to look into the distant void.
The other Eight Pillar Gods noticed the Sun God’s unusual behavior and opened their eyes, seemingly puzzled.
“Is it Da Xia?” Wind God Shu speculated, “Is it because the Heavenly Court has descended and destroyed Takamagahara, bringing us a threat?”
“Although Takamagahara’s power wasn’t comparable to our ancient divine nations, it was still one of the world’s major pantheons. The Heavenly Court destroyed it so easily, their strength indeed exceeded our expectations,” another Pillar God said.
For the past hundred years, Takamagahara had remained hidden from the world. Except for the Da Xia gods, many divine nations didn’t know that Takamagahara had already fallen under the Red Moon, nor did they know that the divine nation destroyed by the Primordial Heavenly Lord was merely an empty shell.
From their perspective, the Heavenly Court had emerged and immediately destroyed the nearest major pantheon, displaying terrifying combat prowess.
That single sword strike by the Heavenly Lord instantly maximized Da Xia’s deterrence among other pantheons.
“As fellow ancient divine nations, how strong can the Da Xia gods really be?” The God of Life shook his head, “Now our Egyptian Sun City has formed an alliance with Norse Asgard, Indian Temple of Gods, and Greek Olympus. With four divine nations united, even if the Heavenly Court is strong, they cannot possibly win.
Moreover, the Heavenly Court must have depleted their energy destroying Takamagahara. Perhaps they’re just putting up a strong front now.”
“Though four divine nations have allied, whether they’re truly united is uncertain.”
“In my opinion, we should seize this opportunity to unite with other divine nations and directly attack Da Xia, destroying the Heavenly Court.”
“The Heavenly Court has just descended and used swift force to destroy Takamagahara. Their momentum is at its peak now. If they’re determined to defend Da Xia, even four nations combined might not easily break through… I think we shouldn’t rush. We should unite with other divine nations, gradually wear down Da Xia’s foundation, and when the time is right, launch an all-out attack.”
Atop the nine divine pillars, the Pillar Gods each held their own views and began to debate.
On the central Sun God pillar, that ethereal figure remained silent, frowning in deep thought before slowly speaking:
“Nut, represent our Sun City and visit the other three divine nations to see what their plans are. Nephthys, secretly investigate the Heavenly Court’s movements at Da Xia’s borders. Don’t go too deep, don’t directly engage with Da Xia gods, and return immediately if you detect danger.”
“We obey the Sun’s sacred command.”
Sky Goddess Nut and Death Goddess Nephthys simultaneously accepted their orders, transforming into streaks of light that disappeared at the edge of the Sun City.
The figure seated on the Sun God pillar slowly closed his eyes, but the unease in his heart grew increasingly stronger…
…
Sky Goddess Nut and Death Goddess Nephthys flew out of the Egyptian divine nation, plunging into the mist and heading in different directions.
As she flew, Nut pondered how to discuss this matter with the Norse gods once she reached Asgard.
After some time, a figure approached from the opposite direction through the mist.
Nut looked ahead, and upon recognizing the person, was slightly startled.
“Nephthys, why have you returned?” she asked the familiar figure in confusion.
Nephthys was also surprised to see Nut, “Why are you here?”
“I was flying toward Asgard.”
“I was heading to Da Xia… but aren’t those two different directions?”
They looked around bewildered at their surroundings, where rolling mist in the air made it impossible to determine their location.
Suddenly, in the gray sky above, points of starlight began to appear, spreading like wildfire across the heavens, quickly covering the entire sky.
A subtle and mysterious aura emanated from beneath the starry sky.
“That is…”
Nut’s pupils contracted slightly at this sight.
…
Norse Lands.
Asgard.
Odin’s Temple.
In the pure and sacred hall, a golden-haired goddess wearing white robes stood quietly beneath the divine throne. Her eyes were closed, streams of mysterious light flowing around her body, waves of terrifying divine power radiating outward.
After some time, she slowly opened her eyes, those beautiful orbs gazing toward the sky beyond the hall, as if trying to perceive the trajectory of fate.
She was the Queen of Norse mythology, wife of the All-Father Odin, Frigg.
Behind her, two men waited quietly – one in black clothes with black hair, emanating a cold and mysterious aura; the other golden-haired in red clothing, handsome and strong.
After a long while, Queen Frigg withdrew her gaze, her beautiful eyes closing in resignation.
“Frigg, did you see clearly?”
On the divine throne, the one-eyed weathered elder slowly spoke.
“…No.” Frigg shook her head, “Da Xia’s fate has been deliberately obscured, the heavenly patterns are chaotic, making prophecy impossible. It must be the work of Da Xia’s Three Pure Ones.”
“I still think they’re just putting up a front.” Behind Frigg, the cold man in black with snake-like sharp eyes spoke, “The Heavenly Court hibernated for two years, yet chose this moment to emerge, so boldly destroying Takamagahara… There must be more to this.
Perhaps, knowing they cannot oppose four divine nations united, they’re secretly planning something else…”
The one-eyed elder on the throne pondered briefly, then turned his gaze to the golden-haired man in red.
“Thor, what do you think?”
“…I don’t want to be involved in this matter.” Thor spoke flatly, “I don’t even understand why Asgard must be enemies with Da Xia. We seem to have never had any grievances with the Da Xia gods.”
Loki’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The one-eyed elder seemed to have anticipated Thor’s response and, without addressing his concerns, spoke expressionlessly:
“In that case, we shall try launching a proactive attack, to test Da Xia’s true…”
Before the one-eyed elder could finish, his remaining eye contracted slightly as he suddenly looked up at the sky.
A streak of green light flew across Asgard’s sky, breaking through the temple’s gates like a fleeting phoenix, carrying terrifying dao energy, directly targeting the one-eyed elder on the throne!
Loki and Thor’s expressions changed simultaneously!
“Hmph.”
The one-eyed elder snorted coldly, raising his right hand and heavily striking the throne’s armrest. A surge of divine power poured forth, knocking that green light from midair to the ground before the throne.
It was a wooden sword.
The sword’s blade was deeply embedded in the ground, and at the end of its hilt, a thin cloud scroll danced in the wind.
On that cloud scroll was written a line of orderly Chinese characters. Though none of the four present could recognize these characters, they could clearly sense the meaning they conveyed.
“In ten days, this poor Daoist shall come to retrieve the sword and question the Norse gods.”
–Supreme Pure One of the Dao and Virtue.
