Chapter 845: I Am Lu Baoyou
Under Fang Mo’s guidance, Ding Chongfeng and Li Zhenzhen precisely broke through two encirclements set by the caregivers, temporarily shaking them off.
Ding Chongfeng leaned against the wall, drenched in sweat. He glanced at Li Zhenzhen, who was only slightly out of breath, and then at Fang Mo, who seemed unfazed atop the wall, his mouth twitching uncontrollably…
Why are there so many monsters in this training camp?
“How much time is left?”
“Eight minutes.”
“No wonder,” Fang Mo nodded. “These ‘mysterious’ attacks are becoming increasingly fierce and organized. They don’t seem like random assaults; it must be Instructor Lin controlling them from behind, putting pressure on us.”
“What should we do?” Li Zhenzhen said, distressed. “If it’s that person personally arranging the attacks, we might not escape this time…”
“That shouldn’t be the case, right?” Ding Chongfeng exhaled deeply, his heartbeat slowing down. “Instructor Lin is probably just trying to conduct physical training under extreme conditions. The primary goal isn’t to eliminate us all, so there must be a way out.”
“Exactly.” Fang Mo nodded in agreement. “I can sense the positions of these ‘mysterious’ entities. Just keep following me; we should be able to last a few more minutes.”
“Alright!”
The three exchanged glances and began to weave through the complex terrain again, evading the surrounding ‘mysterious’ pursuers.
A few minutes later, the familiar whistle sounded again, and the numerous ‘mysterious’ figures simultaneously halted, retreating like a tide, disappearing without a trace.
“Training is over.” Lin Qiye’s calm voice echoed in every corner of the training camp. “All surviving recruits, gather on the playground within three minutes.”
Upon hearing this, Ding Chongfeng and the others, who had been tense all along, finally relaxed.
They didn’t stop but headed directly toward the playground. After all, their stamina had reached its limit, and if they let their guard down again, it would be difficult to make it back to the playground…
They had narrowly avoided the fate of being locked in the small black room; it would be too frustrating to be punished again for such a strange reason.
When Fang Mo arrived at the playground, he realized that the surviving recruits were indeed very few.
Besides him, Li Zhenzhen, Ding Chongfeng, and the quarreling siblings Su Zhe and Su Yuan, there were only two or three others, all of whom wore expressions of relief after surviving.
“Su Yuan, what do you mean? Why did you just give me the finger?”
“Are you sick or something?”
“Why are you still cursing? Can’t you show some respect for your brother?”
“Brother, are you sick or something?”
“…”
Watching the bickering siblings, Ding Chongfeng cleared his throat a couple of times and silently turned away.
At the same time, several figures in deep red cloaks were slowly approaching.
Su Zhe and Su Yuan immediately shut their mouths, obediently standing in a line with the others, heads bowed in silence.
“You all performed very well.” Lin Qiye’s gaze swept over the group. “Congratulations, you have avoided the fate of entering the small black room. Now, you can go to the cafeteria to prepare for your meal.”
Joy immediately appeared in their eyes.
Lin Qiye opened his mouth, seemingly about to say something more, but suddenly paused and turned to look at the entrance of the training camp.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“Qing Yu, it’s up to you from here. I need to step away for a moment,” Lin Qiye said after a brief hesitation, addressing An Qingyu, who was wearing a Tang Seng mask.
An Qingyu nodded.
Lin Qiye’s figure flickered and then left the spot.
…
Outside the training camp.
A ragged boy, with his left eye closed, was slowly walking along a small path.
“Stop!”
On the watchtower outside the training camp, several sniper rifles instantly locked onto him, and the officers stationed outside frowned.
“Who are you? Why are you here?”
The boy raised his head and calmly said, “My name is Lu Baoyou. I’m here to participate in the new recruit training.”
The officers were taken aback, and after checking their records, they replied again:
“Lu Baoyou, your qualification as a recruit has been revoked. Go home.”
“I’ve already gone back,” Lu Baoyou replied indifferently. “So, I’ve come back again…”
“You shouldn’t have come back. Your qualification has been revoked, and we can’t let you in.”
Several sniper rifles were aimed at Lu Baoyou from different angles, showing no signs of backing down.
They were not instructors of this training camp but officers responsible for perimeter monitoring. They didn’t care why Lu Baoyou had left or why his qualification was revoked; their mission was to guard this gate and prevent unauthorized individuals from entering.
Lu Baoyou glanced at the officers but said nothing further. Instead, he slowly sat down on the ground.
In front of the vast training camp, he sat there like a homeless child, stubborn and resolute.
The officers frowned.
“What do we do now?” one of the officers whispered. “He’s just a kid here for training, not an enemy. We can’t just shoot him, can we?”
“That shouldn’t be necessary… Send a vehicle to take him back.”
“Can he even get in the car with us?”
“Then just drag him; we can’t let him sit here forever, can we?”
“He’s a pitiful child, after all…”
“…”
At that moment, a shadow emerged from the training camp behind the watchtower, taking the form of a man draped in a deep red cloak, slowly walking over.
“Captain Lin.”
“Captain Lin.”
Seeing Lin Qiye, the officers saluted and stepped back a half-step.
Lin Qiye acknowledged them with a sound, his gaze falling on Lu Baoyou in front of the watchtower. Noticing his tightly closed left eye, his expression slightly tightened.
At the same time, the white blade of “Zhan Bai” materialized from the void, automatically returning to its sheath, and a phantom of a white bear flashed by, as if whispering something to Lin Qiye.
A smile flickered at the corner of Lin Qiye’s mouth before he returned to calm.
He walked past the watchtower and approached Lu Baoyou.
“Have you found your answer?” he asked lightly.
“Yes.”
Lu Baoyou, sitting on the ground, looked up at Lin Qiye, furrowing his brow. After a moment of hesitation, he stood up to meet his gaze on equal footing.
“I’ve already gone back home, and I’ve found my answer… Now, I want to come back,” he said earnestly.
Lin Qiye looked at Lu Baoyou’s remaining eye and fell silent for a moment.
“Tell me, who are you?”
“I am Lu Baoyou.”
“That’s not what I asked.”
“My answer is this.”
Lu Baoyou replied calmly, “Whether as the agent of a fallen angel or the son of the Night Watchman Lu Qiu… I am not anyone’s puppet, nor am I anyone’s shadow. I just want to walk my own path.”
