Chapter 661: The New “Ghost”

“I don’t believe in any gods; I only believe in the knife in my hand.”

Suddenly, Yuzuriha’s mind recalled that night when Lin Qiye spoke these words under the night sky.

She lowered her head, looking at the 【Senchō】 in her arms. After a long silence, she slowly placed her palm on the hilt of the knife…

Perhaps even she herself did not realize that when the yellow-robed oracle spoke those words, deep within her heart, she had already found her answer.

Gods are ethereal and elusive.

Only those who accompany her are real.

Grandma Tsuru, Brother Qiye, Uncle Kyouji, Brother Amemiya, Brother Kogane… If they all represent “evil,” then why should she pursue that so-called hypocritical “good”?

What’s wrong with being a “bad person”?

At this moment, the bloodiness and tenacity hidden deep within her heart ignited like a fire in a woodpile, burning fiercely.

“Grandma Tsuru…” Yuzuriha gripped the hilt of the knife, slowly closed her eyes, and whispered in a voice only she could hear, “Please help us…”

In the rain,

The snow-white long knife,

Silently unsheathed.

Boom—!!

A gust of wind erupted around Yuzuriha, her black hair dancing wildly in the wind, her clear and bright eyes fixed intently on the long knife in her hand. As the snow-white blade was drawn, paper cranes flew out from the sheath!

These paper cranes seemed endless, swirling around Yuzuriha, quickly coalescing into human form!

Moments later, an old lady surrounded by paper cranes stood quietly in front of Yuzuriha. She wore an old gray kimono, wooden clogs on her feet, and her aged silver hair fluttered gently in the wind.

【Senchō】’s blade spirit, Grandma Tsuru.

At this moment, Yuzuriha felt as if a connection had formed between her and the knife in her hand. She could clearly sense the emotions and thoughts of the blade, as if linked deep within her soul.

She had become the master of this cursed blade.

“Grandma Tsuru.” Yuzuriha looked at the familiar figure and couldn’t help but speak softly.

The Grandma Tsuru surrounded by paper cranes turned around, a bitter smile appearing on her aged face. “Little Yuzuri, for so many years, your father and I have been trying to keep you away from this vortex, hoping you could grow up safely like an ordinary child. But who would have thought… you still ended up on this path.”

Yuzuriha opened her mouth, feeling a bit guilty as she said, “I’m sorry.”

“No need to apologize, little Yuzuri.” Grandma Tsuru walked up to her, gently patting her head, and said softly, “You are a good child; you haven’t done anything wrong. The ones at fault are them…”

Grandma Tsuru turned to look at the yellow-robed oracle, a heavy killing intent surfacing in her murky eyes. She slowly said, “Since you’ve chosen this path, I will definitely protect you and will never let you suffer again…”

The yellow-robed oracle witnessed this scene, and his eyes instantly turned cold. The aloof demeanor he once held had vanished, replaced by an indescribable rage!

How dare such a thirteen-year-old girl defy his will? Right in front of him, she had become the master of the cursed blade?!

In the left eye of the yellow-robed oracle, a light ring quickly locked onto Yuzuriha, slightly contracting as it recorded her appearance. An electronic voice echoed in his mind:

“Detecting energy fluctuations from the fourth cursed blade, energy wave pattern matching… Confirmed as the third of the cursed nine blades, 【Senchō】.

Blade master identity verification in progress… Blade master identity confirmed, fourth generation citizen ID 42857494, Yuzuriha.

Identity locked, classified as a 【Murderous Ghost】 level wanted criminal, uploading photo, generating wanted notice…”

As the artificial intelligence’s voice fell, moments later, the electronic screens throughout Osaka City flickered to life!

A brand new wanted notice was generated.

In the center of the screen, a small girl was drawing her knife in the rain. Her disheveled black hair was soaked by the rain, swaying gently in the wind. In her clear eyes was a maturity and determination not typical for her age, while paper cranes circled around her in the rain.

Surrounding the wanted notice, bright red warning bands encircled it, filled with the words “Evil Person,” flashing continuously and illuminating a corner of the dark night.

“Evil Person: Yuzuriha, 【Murderous Ghost】 level wanted criminal, reward of 10,000,000 yen, witness report reward of 1,000,000 yen…”

Around the large screen on the street, passersby noticed the new wanted notice. They seemed shocked by the girl’s age, stopping in their tracks to point and discuss the notice.

“Why does she look so small? She’s just a child, right?”

“She looks about twelve or thirteen. How did she become a 【Murderous Ghost】 level wanted criminal?”

“I don’t know? What evil has she done?”

“It must be serious; otherwise, how could she become a 【Murderous Ghost】? Maybe she’s an extreme terrorist who looks weak!”

“That’s really scary…”

“Oh, great gods, please protect me from encountering her; I don’t want to die yet…”

“Don’t say that! If we can find her location and report it, we could earn a huge reward!”

“…”

Dotonbori.

After uploading the information, the yellow-robed oracle slightly bent his body, forcefully stepping on the ground, and shot towards Yuzuriha like lightning. Several blinding light rings erupted from his palms, slicing through the pitch-black night!

Amiya Haruki appeared in the rain, raising his knife to block in front of Yuzuriha, slicing through the dense rain to intercept those light rings!

His pale face turned slightly as he spoke to Grandma Tsuru:

“I can’t hold on much longer. Can you handle the civilians around us?”

Grandma Tsuru squinted at the yellow-robed oracle, and after a moment, shook her head slightly. “Leave it to me.”

She slowly raised her hands, her form transforming into countless paper cranes that scattered in all directions, an endless sea of paper cranes engulfing the entire street, spreading like a raging fire!

The yellow-robed oracle stood amidst the flying paper cranes, looking back to see those cranes flying to every civilian kneeling behind him, pecking their foreheads with their beaks, leaving a drop of crimson.

The civilians pecked by the cranes rolled their eyes and collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

Losing consciousness meant losing the emotion of “fear,” and the materials needed for the yellow-robed oracle to create his true form were rapidly diminishing!

This sea of paper cranes had completely covered a ten-kilometer radius around them, searching every corner, swiftly knocking out every passerby.

The yellow-robed oracle’s expression darkened. Just as he was about to intervene, his vision blurred, and the white-haired Amiya Haruki, wielding 【Yubikiri】, slashed towards him again!

“This time, you can’t escape!”
