Chapter 630: The Sleeping Dragon and Phoenix Chicks of the Cowherd Realm

Three minutes ago.

Disguised with a changed appearance, Haruki Amamiya stood in front of the Black Wutong Club, holding a crumpled flyer that had been folded many times.

He looked up at the neglected storefront and then shifted his gaze to the flashy poster plastered at the entrance. In the center of the poster was a blonde young man dressed in flamboyant clothing, smiling as he held up a glass, seemingly ready to toast with someone.

Haruki’s expression was somewhat stiff.

When the noodle shop owner handed him the flyer, he mentioned that he had a friend who owned a shop in Dotonbori, but it seemed they were short-staffed. He also said that if Haruki could get hired by the shop owner, he could earn a decent amount of money in a short time.

Thus, Haruki had taken the flyer and walked all the way here.

At first, he thought it was just an ordinary restaurant, but standing at the entrance and seeing the suggestive poster and the decor inside, he realized… this was a host club.

The closed glass door reflected Haruki’s shadow, and in the mirror, a figure in white clothing with white hair stood behind him, holding an umbrella.

“This is a host club,” the voice echoed in Haruki’s ears.

“…I can see that.”

“Are you really planning to work here?” The voice paused, “The master of the sword, Kotsu Kudo, a wanted criminal of the ‘Ghost’ level, a man determined to change this country… is now going to become a host?”

Haruki’s gaze flickered, seemingly conflicted.

After a long pause, he slowly spoke, “But I need money.”

“Does a wanted criminal need to go this far to make money?”

“Others may not understand me and can see me as a wanted criminal, but I cannot see myself that way.” Haruki said calmly, “If I resort to stealing or robbing, losing my moral compass, how am I any different from those ‘villains’?”

The figure in white clothing fell silent for a moment. “I think you don’t need to go this far.”

“Shinji Mikami can make sacrifices for our goal, so can I.” Haruki replied indifferently, “It’s just being a host, not selling my body. I know my limits; as long as I earn enough money, I will leave here, and no one will know I ever worked here.

Moreover, host clubs are a mixed bag, a good place to gather information. I might hear something about the Yamazaki Bridge.”

“…Alright.”

Seeing that his master had made up his mind, the spirit of the sword, Yubeng, said no more. The reflection in the glass door slowly faded, leaving Haruki standing alone at the entrance.

Haruki took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.

Ding-dong—!

The crisp sound of the doorbell rang out, and moments later, the tightly shut door slowly opened.

Uncle Kyosuke opened the door and was taken aback to see a handsome young man in a black kimono standing outside.

Even in a black kimono, it couldn’t hide the young man’s well-proportioned and tall figure. On his youthful face, there was a faint scar on his jaw, giving him a handsome yet imposing aura. His eyes were cold and piercing, like a Japanese sword radiating a chilling light.

This young man…

Uncle Kyosuke’s mouth slightly dropped open.

“Hello, I’m here to apply for the host position,” Haruki said seriously, looking at Uncle Kyosuke.

After saying this, he shifted his gaze to the side, where he had just noticed a figure behind Uncle Kyosuke, thinking it was a staff member. But upon seeing his face clearly, he was taken aback!

His eyes filled with disbelief.

Lin Qiye, dressed in a flashy red shirt and sequined jacket, looked equally shocked as he stared at Haruki, standing there in a daze.

Although Haruki had altered his appearance to hide his identity, he couldn’t escape Lin Qiye’s keen perception. From the moment Lin Qiye laid eyes on him, he recognized him.

The two locked eyes, and the air seemed to freeze.

“Good, good, good! Come in, come in, let’s talk slowly inside!”

Uncle Kyosuke, hearing that this handsome young man was applying to be a host, instantly beamed with joy. He grabbed Haruki’s hand, seemingly afraid he would change his mind, and enthusiastically led him upstairs.

“Qingyu, go pour him a glass of water,” Uncle Kyosuke said to the still-stunned Lin Qiye.

“Ah? Oh… okay.” Lin Qiye snapped back to reality, responding softly.

Lin Qiye, with a strong sense of professionalism, went to pour tea for Haruki and Uncle Kyosuke, while the two of them headed into a private room, seemingly discussing the terms of employment. Occasionally, Lin Qiye could hear Uncle Kyosuke speaking passionately, and most of what he said sounded very familiar…

“You are a once-in-a-decade genius in the host world… If you leave, it will be the most painful loss for the host industry in nearly ten years… You were born for the host business…”

Lin Qiye stood outside the private room with two cups of tea, silently rolling his eyes.

So… he says this to everyone?

Pfft, what a scumbag!

Lin Qiye pushed the door open and entered, placing the two cups of tea in front of the two men. Haruki glanced at Uncle Kyosuke, who was spouting words with enthusiasm, and then at Lin Qiye, whose expression was filled with resentment, his lips twitching slightly.

After a moment, Uncle Kyosuke finalized Haruki’s pay, which was basically the same as Lin Qiye’s, and it was also paid daily.

“Come, Qiye, let me introduce you.” Uncle Kyosuke walked over to Lin Qiye, one arm warmly draping over his shoulder while the other wrapped around Haruki, bringing their shoulders together, cheerfully saying:

“This is Haruki Amamiya, our new colleague. From now on, we are all companions, so let’s take care of each other!”

Haruki Amamiya?

Lin Qiye was surprised for a moment but quickly realized that Haruki must have concealed his real name, considering his current identity as a ‘Ghost’ level wanted criminal…

“Haruki, this is Qiye Lin, a senior who came a day earlier than you. I really didn’t expect that in less than a day, I would find two unparalleled geniuses in the host world!”

Uncle Kyosuke said with a smile, looking proud, as if he wanted to puff out his chest and shout: “The hidden talents of the host world are all under my command!”

Uncle Kyosuke laughed for a while in front of the two, then pushed the door out to continue calculating the shop’s earnings from yesterday, leaving only Lin Qiye and Haruki in the private room, staring at each other.

Lin Qiye looked him up and down and clicked his tongue.

“You said we’d meet in two weeks, that you had things to do in the meantime… turns out you came to be a host?”
