Chapter 611: Yuzu Rina’s Predicament
“What kind of person kidnapped her?”
“It looks like a few thugs. They were lurking at the entrance of the shrine, and then…”
Heikou described the footage captured by the surveillance camera from start to finish. Although the quality was somewhat blurry and some events occurred far from the camera’s view, he could still piece together the situation at the time.
“After they kidnapped the girl, they took a car to the suburbs on the west side of the city. The surveillance coverage there is minimal, and with the time constraints, I lost track of them afterward.”
For Heikou, using his ability to search for Yurinai and understand the situation in just a few seconds, then tracking them to the west side, was already the limit. If he could use his ability for a bit longer, he might have been able to narrow down the search area further.
After listening to Heikou’s description, Lin Qiye’s expression gradually darkened.
“I understand,” Lin Qiye nodded and looked at Hong Yan. “Let’s go to the last place they were seen in the west and search our way from there.”
…
Warehouse.
Yurinai lay weakly in a small dark room in the corner of the warehouse, her hands tied behind her back, unable to move, her body covered in shocking bruises.
In the darkness, she endured the pain while trying to observe her surroundings.
From the furnishings, it appeared to be an abandoned warehouse management room. The space was cramped, with a few rusty iron shelves leaning against the walls on either side, covered in cobwebs and dust. There were no windows, and aside from a few nearly rotten cardboard boxes, nothing else remained.
Yurinai took a deep breath, curled up her body, and slowly inched toward the iron door of the management room.
She pressed her ear against the surface of the iron door, held her breath, and listened carefully to the sounds outside.
Faint sounds of laughter and cursing came from outside the door, but they were far away, likely near the main entrance of the warehouse. From the sounds, there seemed to be three or four people, probably stationed there on the orders of Iwamai Yusuke.
After hesitating for a moment, Yurinai opened her mouth and spat out a large piece of pink bubble gum, as if it were made from two pieces of gum chewed together.
She flipped her body over, using her bound hands to grab the piece of gum, tore it apart, and extracted a small segment of a utility knife blade from inside.
She carefully pinched the blade between her fingers, leaned against the wall, and focused on the iron door, slowly using the blade to cut through the thick rope binding her wrists.
This wasn’t the first time Yurinai had been captured. Previously, she had been taken twice. The first time was when Iwamai Yusuke’s subordinates found her. At that time, she didn’t dare to resist and was brought here. Then, Iwamai Yusuke presented her with an IOU, forcing her to help her father repay the debt, giving her a deadline before letting her go.
After returning home, Yurinai thought about how to gather the money while looking for another place to stay, knowing that her address had been exposed. If she continued to live there, they would surely come back for her.
Yurinai wasn’t afraid of them, but Grandma Tsuru was old and couldn’t be subjected to such fright. She didn’t want to worry her, so she temporarily settled Grandma Tsuru in a container and returned home to search for valuable items to sell, but found nothing.
Just then, Iwamai Yusuke’s subordinates barged in again, took Yurinai away, and ransacked her home. After being captured a second time, she still had no money on her and was beaten badly.
After that, Yurinai never returned home, living in the container with Grandma Tsuru, trying her best to avoid others’ eyes, living a life like a mouse, hiding and fleeing.
Unexpectedly, she was targeted again, but this time, she had learned to be clever.
At the grocery store near the shrine, Yurinai used the 1,500 yen she had on her to buy four lollipops, five black raincoats, a bag of super spicy chili powder, two pieces of bubble gum, and a utility knife blade. The first two items were to confuse the thugs and help her escape, while the last three were for emergencies, and she hadn’t expected to use them so soon.
Yurinai cut the ropes binding her hands and feet, stood up from the ground, and tiptoed to the door.
The structure of the warehouse was very simple, with only one exit—the main door. This meant that if she wanted to leave, she would have to force her way out. Yurinai thought that she would wait until it got a bit darker, when the thugs would be resting, and then sneak out…
But her hopes ultimately fell short.
Outside, Iwamai Yusuke’s voice rang out again, and it was quickly approaching.
“Drag her out for me! This time, I will make her talk!” Iwamai Yusuke’s voice was icy cold.
Yurinai’s heart trembled, and she felt a surge of panic. Standing at the door, she quickly turned around, searching for something in the dim room.
If Iwamai Yusuke came in and found that she had escaped her bindings, he would surely beat her up and find other ways to restrain her, which would ruin all her preparations.
This was her last chance.
Yurinai’s eyes flickered with a faint light in the darkness.
Iwamai Yusuke opened the door, and the inside was pitch black. He had just taken a step inside when a cardboard box suddenly fell on his head!
Then something bumped into him and dashed out the door, slamming it shut behind it, leaving him locked in the small room.
Iwamai Yusuke tore the box off his head. Having just entered the darkness, his eyes couldn’t adjust to the surroundings, and he couldn’t see anything. But at that moment, he realized what had happened, cursed angrily, and fumbled for the doorknob.
Dressed in a tattered black sakura kimono, Yurinai burst out of the small room and sprinted toward the warehouse’s main door. The thugs were momentarily stunned by the scene, and then a roar came from inside the room:
“Let me out! No… stop her first!!”
Several thugs rushed forward, trying to block Yurinai, but her body was incredibly agile, and being small in stature, she managed to dodge the attempts of two or three of them. She grabbed a wine bottle from the ground and hurled it at the last thug in front of her, shattering the bottle and leaving a gash on his forehead.
The thug let out a scream, clutching his forehead.
Yurinai dashed out of the warehouse’s main door, just as the door holding Iwamai Yusuke was kicked open with force!
Seeing Yurinai about to escape, Iwamai Yusuke’s face twisted with rage. He pulled out a revolver from his pocket, the dark muzzle aimed at the retreating Yurinai, and pulled the trigger!
Bang—!!
The gun’s muzzle erupted with a blinding flash, and the sharp gunshot echoed in the sky.
