Chapter 518: The Mysterious It
Lin Qiye nodded, “I agree. That glance it cast at the surveillance camera clearly indicated that it had discovered us. It knows we are using this camera to spy on its movements.”
“Perhaps this is related to the ability of its eye,” An Qingyu pondered. “From its behavior, as Captain Guang said, it doesn’t seem to possess strong aggression, yet it exudes fluctuations of the ‘Infinite’ realm. This means that in some aspect other than combat, it has terrifying potential.”
Lin Qiye nodded again.
Realm is not the decisive factor in measuring “mysterious” combat power; what makes the “mysterious” terrifying is the bizarre abilities they possess.
For example, Li Yifei, also known as the Nantuo Snake Demon, does not have strong combat power, but it can silently infiltrate any species through its “snake kind,” with an appearance that is flawless and memories that can be inherited, combined with its exceptionally high IQ…
If it hadn’t happened to be spotted by someone and encountered a freak like Lin Qiye, perhaps the entire Cangnan would have quietly turned into the Snake City of the Nantuo Snake Demon.
Then there’s A Zhu, who, despite having weak direct combat power, can easily ensnare souls through spider webs, killing invisibly.
From the information currently available, this “mysterious” entity also seems to belong to this type.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have the Night Watchman’s database, so we can’t identify the identity and abilities of this ‘mysterious’ being,” An Qingyu sighed helplessly.
Lin Qiye’s captain privileges had been revoked, and he couldn’t access the internal “mysterious” archives of the Night Watchman until he completed all the training, meaning their intelligence would be far less than what Team 007 could obtain.
“It’s just intelligence,” Shen Qingzhu said calmly from the audience, glancing at Lin Qiye and An Qingyu. “I’ll handle it.”
Lin Qiye and An Qingyu exchanged glances. “How will you handle it?”
“Don’t worry about that,” Shen Qingzhu smiled faintly, as if recalling something, and patted the chubby Bai Li beside her. “Fatty, come with me for a bit.”
“Ah? Oh…”
Bai Li scratched his head, bewildered, and stood up to follow Shen Qingzhu out.
Seeing the two leave the theater, An Qingyu turned to Lin Qiye. “Do you think… they can do it?”
“They can,” Lin Qiye nodded. “You can always trust Brother Zhuai.”
An Qingyu adjusted her glasses. “In any case, the most crucial thing now is to locate this ‘mysterious’ entity.”
“Given its intelligence, it should be quite difficult to find it using conventional methods.”
“Then we’ll use some unconventional methods.”
An Qingyu smiled slightly, raised her hand, and snapped her fingers.
A dense tide of rats surged out from the corners of the theater, like a wave, quickly covering most of the theater and startling the nearby police officers.
Lin Qiye’s eyes lit up. “Your rat tide has already spread to Huaihai?”
“This place isn’t far from Cangnan, and we’ve been here for so long that we were already prepared,” An Qingyu waved her fingers, and the tide of rats quickly retreated, disappearing into the sewers.
“The rat tide will search the entire Huaihai, but it will take some time. I want to check the nearby surveillance.”
“Can the surveillance capture it?” Lin Qiye frowned slightly.
“If it doesn’t want to be seen, then of course not,” An Qingyu replied slowly. “But… if it voluntarily exposes itself to the surveillance, then it would be different.”
Lin Qiye looked up at the surveillance camera in the corner of the stage, deep in thought. “Are you saying it wants us to find it?”
“That possibility cannot be ruled out.”
“Alright, then you and Jiang Er go together,” Lin Qiye said. “I’ll use my mental power to search outward from this theater, bit by bit, to see if I can find anything.”
“Okay.”
…
Two minutes later.
Han Qing led the other members of Team 007 into the theater.
Lin Qiye and the others had already left, and only a few police officers remained in the empty theater.
After reviewing the surveillance footage, their brows furrowed slightly.
“This ‘mysterious’ entity is smarter than we imagined,” Han Qing pondered for a moment. “Linlin, Zhao Kun, go back and check the files on this ‘mysterious’ being to see what it really is.”
“Understood.”
Zhao Kun and Chen Linlin nodded and quickly exited the theater, heading towards Team 007’s base.
“Xiaoyu, can you sense the movements of that ‘mysterious’ entity?” Han Qing turned to Qi Xiaoyu.
Qi Xiaoyu closed her eyes tightly, seemingly trying her best to search.
“I sensed it.”
After a moment, she opened her eyes. “The ‘mysterious’ fluctuations of the ‘Infinite’ realm are currently at the edge of the East District, moving towards the South District.”
“South District?” Han Qing frowned in confusion. “Can you guess its destination?”
“…Not too sure, but the only place with a dense population along its path is the sports arena in the South District,” Qi Xiaoyu said uncertainly.
Han Qing nodded. “Let’s go!”
…
East District.
Old city at the edge.
A figure wearing a black top hat and a coat walked along the sidewalk, left hand in pocket, right hand elegantly tapping on the pavement with a cane, moving lightly like a leisurely traveler.
However, if a passerby stopped and looked closely at his face, they would notice that his eyes were actually closed… it was just that under the brim of the hat, no one would pay attention to this detail.
Suddenly, he stopped.
“Hmm?”
A look of confusion appeared on his face.
He turned around, gently lifting the brim of his hat with his finger, revealing a crimson vertical eye in the center of his forehead that gazed at a surveillance camera by the roadside.
In his eyes, a strange red light flickered.
After a moment, he lowered his head, gently pulled down the brim of his hat, covering the crimson eye.
“Why is that team chasing after me first… I need to think of a way to shake them off.”
He muttered to himself.
He naturally walked onto the road, raised his hand to hail a taxi, a polite smile appearing at the corner of his mouth under the brim, then opened the door and sat in the back seat.
“Where to?”
The middle-aged driver with a receding hairline asked from the driver’s seat.
“To the city government.”
He replied calmly.
“Alright.”
The driver pressed the “passenger” button at the front, stepped on the gas, and sped towards the city government.
Fifteen minutes later, the vehicle slowly stopped at the city government entrance.
“Here we are.”
“Go to the aquarium.”
“What?” The driver thought he misheard.
“Go to the aquarium,” the man repeated.
“Wait, weren’t you going to the city government?”
“Oh, things have changed a bit. We’re going to the aquarium now.”
“…”
“Don’t worry,” the man adjusted his hat. “Just keep the meter running, and I’ll pay the fare at the end.”
Hearing this, the driver muttered under his breath, turned the car around, and sped off in another direction.
