Chapter 454: Dividing the Spoils
Lin Qiye and the others carried their luggage and walked into the lonely, old warehouse.
From the outside, the warehouse was about the size of three football fields, painted red, though it was unclear what it was originally used to store. At the top of the warehouse, several faded large characters were painted in white:
— No. 0213 Heavy Storage Warehouse.
As they pushed open the rusted warehouse doors, a cloud of dust poured out, accompanied by a strange odor.
“Cough, cough, cough…” Baili Pangpang waved his hand to disperse the dust and couldn’t help but complain, “The location for this comprehensive education is really terrible, way worse than the training camp.”
“After all, we don’t have the authority to mobilize the Night Watchers’ resources. It’s already good that they didn’t make us stay under a bridge,” Lin Qiye replied.
Lin Qiye was the first to step into the warehouse and turned on the lights. Fortunately, although the facilities were old, the electrical maintenance was quite good, and all the lights illuminated the entire warehouse brightly in an instant.
A vast, empty space appeared before Lin Qiye and the others.
“This warehouse was originally meant to store some large equipment. After the items were moved out, it became completely empty,” An Qingyu speculated as her gaze swept across the nearly sports field-sized area.
The group continued deeper into the warehouse and discovered several independent rooms at the edges, which should have been the residences of the warehouse management staff. Although the facilities were quite old, they were still livable and had no unpleasant odors.
As for bedding and other necessities, Baili Pangpang had plenty of supplies left over from their previous exploration of the primitive forest, including cups, mattresses, and toiletries, enough to share among the five of them.
To Lin Qiye’s surprise, there was even a kitchen here. Baili Pangpang stuffed it full with plates, bowls, chopsticks, an oven, and an induction cooker.
After each of them tidied up their rooms, Lin Qiye and the others each grabbed a small stool and sat down in the open space.
“If nothing unexpected happens, we’ll be staying here for a long time…” Lin Qiye’s gaze swept across the warehouse as he spoke slowly. “From what Zhang said, it seems the higher-ups of the Night Watchers won’t be allowing us to regain our status as a special team anytime soon. How long this so-called comprehensive education lasts is up to them, and our time here could very well be measured in years.”
“Actually, this place isn’t bad; it’s quite quiet, just the facilities are a bit lacking,” Baili Pangpang grinned.
“By the way, didn’t you inherit the Baili Group? Can’t you allocate some funds to improve the environment here?” Cao Yuan asked, as if he had thought of something.
Baili Pangpang shook his head. “The Night Watchers’ special task force has taken full control of the Baili Group’s management. I’m just a chairman waiting to collect money; I can’t mobilize the company’s internal funds… The profits for this year won’t hit my account for a few more months, so right now, I’m broke.”
“…” Lin Qiye’s mouth twitched slightly, feeling a bit pained as he said, “Looks like I won’t be able to get reimbursed for that suit…”
“…”
“Forget it, a poor environment isn’t a big deal; maybe this is part of the comprehensive education,” Lin Qiye consoled himself.
Suddenly, Lin Qiye seemed to remember something. He reached out into the air and summoned a magic circle, causing an ancient long sword and a snow-white long knife to appear in his hands.
“This [Qiyuan] and [Zhanbai], along with your golden spear, [Qingyu Armor], and [Wange], make a total of five extremely dangerous forbidden items, all of which belong to you, Pangpang. I’m returning them to you now…”
Lin Qiye handed the sword and knife to Baili Pangpang, who paused for a moment before accepting them.
Then, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the other three forbidden items, placing them side by side on the ground.
“Since they are all my possessions, how to use them is naturally up to me,” Baili Pangpang chuckled, picking up [Zhanbai] from the ground and handing it to Lin Qiye. “Qiye, I wanted to give you this knife as a gift back in the training camp, and now I finally have the chance.”
Lin Qiye was taken aback. “Aren’t you going to keep it for yourself?”
“I only have two hands; how can I use so many forbidden items?” Baili Pangpang shrugged. “These forbidden items were originally taken with your help. We’re brothers, so don’t be so polite; just accept it.”
Lin Qiye looked into Baili Pangpang’s eyes, paused for a moment, and then without hesitation, graciously accepted [Zhanbai].
“In that case, I won’t be polite,” Lin Qiye smiled.
When he was at the Baili main building, he hadn’t used this knife because it was given to him by Baili Xin as a means to buy his brother’s life, and using it would only make him feel disgusted… but now it was different.
Now, it was a gift from his brother.
Baili Pangpang rested his chin on his hand, staring at the remaining four extremely dangerous forbidden items. After hesitating for a moment, he picked up the golden spear and handed it to Jialan.
“Sister Lan, this [Tianque] is for you. This way, you won’t have to punch people in close combat anymore,” Baili Pangpang said with a grin.
Jialan blinked, curiously examining the golden spear. She had seen its power at the venue; although it hadn’t even managed to knock a single hair off her, that didn’t mean much. She accepted the spear, her eyes instantly turning into crescent moons with delight.
She patted her chest and gave Baili Pangpang a thumbs-up, as if to say, “I’ll protect you from now on!”
Baili Pangpang smiled and handed [Wange] to An Qingyu.
“Qingyu, this thing is too terrifying in power. You’re so smart; you can definitely make good use of it, so it’s yours now.”
An Qingyu took the skull, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, her face filled with a thirst for knowledge as she excitedly stared at the half a tongue, as if ready to dissect it as soon as she got back.
“Thank you,” she said with a smile.
“I’ll keep [Qingyu Armor] for myself, and as for this last [Qiyuan]…” Baili Pangpang slowly picked up the ancient long sword.
Cao Yuan’s face was filled with anticipation.
“…I’ll give it to Qiye!” Baili Pangpang turned and handed the sword to Lin Qiye.
