Chapter 1625 Dynasty Reappearance
Flying dust swirled around as Lin Qiye slowly opened his eyes.
He stared at the hazy yellow sky above, his thoughts seemingly frozen. After a long while, he struggled to stand up, but as soon as he raised his head, an intense wave of dizziness overwhelmed him.
“Ugh—!!!”
Lin Qiye suddenly bent over and dry heaved.
Throughout his life, Lin Qiye had never been prone to motion sickness—not in cars, planes, or boats. But now he truly understood what it meant to feel so dizzy that he could almost vomit out his stomach. He remained sprawled on the ground for a full ten minutes before he could barely manage to stand up.
“What kind of place is this…” Lin Qiye’s gaze swept around, seeing nothing but desolate, uninhabited yellow earth as far as the eye could reach.
Wasn’t he on the exploration ship in the mist before?
Lin Qiye clearly remembered that before losing consciousness, he had been on that exploration ship returning to Great Xia. He had heard three bell tolls from the sea, and then a burst of light had exploded from his chest…
As if remembering something, Lin Qiye looked down at his chest. Of the three marks that had been there before, only two remained. The third had faded almost completely, as if someone had wiped it away.
“[Sacred Covenant]?” Lin Qiye’s brows furrowed tightly.
According to Charles, a [Sacred Covenant] was a sacred, inviolable oath. Once established, it would inevitably come to pass… but what had this disappeared [Covenant] done? Why had it transported him from the exploration ship to this place?
Question after question arose in Lin Qiye’s mind. He walked around the area, but within several kilometers, there was no sign of human habitation. This place seemed like the edge of a desert, with barely any vegetation in sight.
Lin Qiye climbed a small mound and gazed into the distance. Suddenly, he spotted a pair of legs sticking out of the ground near a boulder about a few hundred meters away.
After staring for a moment, Lin Qiye’s mouth twitched violently!
“Wu Quan!”
Without another word, Lin Qiye rushed to the boulder and shattered it with his bare hands. There, a young man lay unconscious in the gap between the rocks, covered in blood.
Lin Qiye first checked his breathing. The good news was that he was still alive; the bad news was that he probably wouldn’t be for much longer.
How could this happen?
Lin Qiye’s gaze swept over his body. Wu Quan’s skin was covered with strange wounds, as if slashed by something. Several of his bones were broken, and his body was limp, his breath as thin as a thread.
“Where did these injuries come from?” Lin Qiye looked at his own body and realized that he also had some bruises. However, his physical body was so robust, and he had been so distracted by suddenly arriving in this strange place, that he hadn’t noticed his own injuries.
Both he and Wu Quan were injured… Perhaps the [Covenant] had caused negative effects on their bodies during the transportation process?
Lin Qiye had no time to think further. He immediately carried Wu Quan on his back, chose a direction, and began sprinting across the barren land.
With such severe injuries, Wu Quan might not last long. He needed to leave this place quickly and find somewhere to treat him.
At full speed, the landscape rushed past. Before long, black dots appeared in Lin Qiye’s vision, resembling some kind of low buildings.
As he got closer, Lin Qiye discovered they were small earthen houses without windows, only small doors. Around the houses were broken wooden fences, standing firm against the swirling yellow sand.
“People.” Lin Qiye’s eyes brightened. He landed lightly in front of one of the earthen houses and knocked on the wooden door.
Knock, knock, knock—
After a moment, a figure slowly emerged from behind the door.
“Who are you looking for?” It was a middle-aged man who appeared to be in his forties or fifties, wearing coarse cloth garments. His skin was dark and rough, his back hunched, and his height barely reached Lin Qiye’s chest, giving him a malnourished appearance.
“Hello, may I ask where this place is?”
“Luohun Hill.”
“Um… which city is this?”
“City?” The man was puzzled. “Oh, West Market is ten li east of here.”
“…I mean, which province? Which city?”
The man eyed him suspiciously. “What province or city… From here, fifteen li north is Xue County. If you want to ask about anything, just go there directly.”
“Xue County…”
As Lin Qiye muttered this name, before he could gather his thoughts, the man closed the door.
Hearing the words “Xue County,” and considering the man’s clothing and the architecture, a certain idea flashed through Lin Qiye’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it…
It couldn’t be possible, could it?
Lin Qiye shook his head, located north, and sped off. Fifteen li might be far for ordinary people, but for Lin Qiye, it was just a moment’s journey.
Through the swirling dust, Lin Qiye’s footsteps landed on a mound of earth. Looking at the ancient city wall standing on the yellow earth in the distance, his mouth involuntarily fell open…
Not far from Lin Qiye stood a city wall built of earth and stone, its surface uneven. An arched gate opened in the center of the wall, with many people dressed in coarse cloth lined up in two rows, gradually entering the city. Occasionally, figures dressed in bright silk and satin could be seen, galloping into the city on horseback.
On top of the city wall, dozens of armored soldiers looked down at the people below, as if on alert for something.
“Am I not dreaming?!” Lin Qiye murmured.
The scene before him completely exceeded Lin Qiye’s understanding. Although modern times preserved many ancient city attractions and film sets, most could easily be identified as reconstructions… but the city before his eyes was clearly a genuine ancient city!
Combined with what the man had said earlier, that bold idea resurfaced in Lin Qiye’s mind!
That [Covenant] had not only made him cross space but also the river of time?
How could this be possible?
Even Wang Mian, as the God of Time, could only perform short-term reversals. What dynasty was this city from? Han? Tang? Song?
Regardless of which dynasty, the gap between it and Lin Qiye’s era was over a thousand years. Even without considering the side effects of causal changes, Wang Mian would probably need to spend over a hundred years of his lifespan to reach this place… Not just anyone could reach such an ancient time.
Yet that [Covenant] had sent both him and Wu Quan to this era?
Strangely though, the people here, whether commoners or soldiers, all looked haggard, with dark circles under their eyes and in poor condition. He wondered if it was due to malnutrition.
Lin Qiye, carrying Wu Quan on his back, quickly descended the hill and stopped a man who appeared to be a merchant.
“Hello, may I ask which dynasty this is?”
“?” The merchant gave him a strange look. “The sixth year of Yuanshou.”
“Yuanshou?” Lin Qiye’s face remained puzzled. He wasn’t well-versed in history, and hearing this reign title, he still didn’t know which dynasty it belonged to.
Just as he was about to ask more questions, a voice called out from the distance:
“The Champion Marquis is entering the city!!”
