Chapter 1478 Return to the Moon
Michael frowned, the power of miracles enveloping the surface of his holy sword, instantly tearing a gap in the foul-smelling domain of corruption.
A sharp hissing sound came from the two flesh wings behind Lucifer, the insect eyes and giant mouths covering their surface writhing frantically, as if stimulated by something. Where the afterimage of the miracle touched the corners of those wings, faint white smoke rose.
The miracle power within Michael was the bane of the Cthulhu gods. Although the corrupting power contained within Lucifer was strong, if Michael could touch those flesh wings, it would cause Him extreme pain.
Lucifer’s features twisted grotesquely. Just as He was enduring the pain and fighting Michael to the death, an invisible ripple spread from the hilt of Michael’s holy sword!
Michael seemed to sense something, his pupils suddenly contracting as he looked up at the sky!
Above in deep space, a moon shadow slowly moved, quiet and mysterious.
“[The Black Goat]…” Michael growled with a frown. [Mortal Divine Domain] burst forth with dazzling light as he swept his holy sword, directly forcing Lucifer back tens of kilometers!
White smoke rose from the surface of the howling, painful flesh wings. Lucifer endured the intense pain as a hideous sword mark appeared on his body’s surface, His eyes blood-red.
Michael no longer spared Lucifer a glance. His six snow-white wings behind him flapped powerfully, his form transforming into a streak of light shooting into the boundless deep space, rushing at full speed toward that slowly moving enormous moon shadow!
“Michael!” Lucifer roared in anger upon seeing this.
He had waited decades for this battle with Michael. As the only two angels remaining in the world, in His view, this was their destined battle, a fight to the death.
Yet Michael didn’t even look at Him again, directly abandoning the battle to return to the moon—undoubtedly an insult to Him!
Lucifer’s black wings behind him flapped powerfully, just about to follow Him to the moon when at that moment, an indescribable voice transmitted from the giant mouths of those flesh wings, as sharp and grating as fingernails scraping across a blackboard, like some kind of insect hissing.
“Go back? But I haven’t killed Him yet…”
“…”
The voice continued for a while, and Lucifer’s blood-red eyes widened slightly, then He sighed helplessly.
He reached out His hand, gently rubbing those writhing flesh wings, as if caressing a lover’s palm, tenderness appearing in His eyes. “I’ll listen to you.”
Lucifer turned around, His black wings flapped once, and His form vanished without a trace.
…
Stars twinkled in the pitch-black deep space as a golden afterimage streaked through the void, approaching that gray-white planet.
As the distance to the moon grew shorter, Michael could clearly see dense black dots writhing on that gray-white ground, like waves surging one after another toward one of the craters.
Seeing this, Michael’s expression visibly darkened.
That crater was where the Heaven’s Origin had placed the seal years ago, locking the Cthulhu gods on the moon—the focal point of the formation, also the place where the golden holy sword in His hand had guarded for countless ages. The target of those things was the moon’s seal!
However, just as those vast black dots were about to rush into the center of the crater, their forms simultaneously halted, as if frozen in midair.
At the same time, in the center of that crater, a figure slowly stood up. Invisible ripples of law spread out, and all the surging black dots on the moon’s surface, as if someone had pressed a pause button, suddenly froze.
Seeing this, Michael’s expression finally relaxed, and he let out a long breath.
Wings dancing, His form slowly descended onto the moon’s surface, and He could now clearly see the true appearance of those black dots.
They were countless flesh monsters resembling large trees, with the blackish trunks covered in tumors and writhing insect eyes. Hideous branches like thick tentacles were frozen in midair, and several huge feet like goat hooves squeezed out from beneath the trunks, steadily supporting these bizarre monsters that were seventeen or eighteen stories tall.
Under the boundless deep space, these disgusting monsters stood on the gray-white ground like sculptures. Looking out, there were at least a thousand, emanating a nauseating stench in the deathly silence.
Michael’s gaze swept over these monsters as he walked directly into the crater. There, an old man in black clothes stood silently on the ground. As he slowly raised his eyes, a pair of time rings with head and tail connected flowed slowly within his eye sockets.
“You’ve finally returned, Michael,” said Chronos.
“My [Mortal Divine Domain] sensed the aura of Cthulhu, so I returned at the fastest speed,” Michael said solemnly. “Thanks to you this time, otherwise I might not have made it in time.”
“What exactly are these monsters?”
“They are the offspring of [The Black Goat],” Michael said. “She probably wanted Lucifer to keep me occupied, then use the offspring to descend on the moon and take the opportunity to open the moon’s seal… but She didn’t expect you to be stationed here.”
“The three pillar gods of Cthulhu? They’ve begun to move?”
“Currently only [The Black Goat] has fully awakened; the other two show no movement.”
“That’s good then… if all three pillar gods awakened simultaneously, Earth would be in danger.” Chronos sighed in relief. “Have you finished what you needed to do on Earth?”
“More or less. Odin joined Cthulhu, released the mist, and planned to open the moon’s seal, but I’ve already killed him. However…” Michael paused, “Zeus also seems to show signs of joining Cthulhu.”
Hearing the latter half of the statement, Chronos frowned,
“What did you say?”
“Under Lucifer’s guidance, he found fragments of [The Key to the Gate] and used it to banish all the gods of Great Xia… I speculate his original intention was merely to use Lucifer to make Olympus the only divine kingdom in the world, without planning to submit to Cthulhu. However, Lucifer now represents [The Black Goat], and allying with Him is absolutely suicidal.”
Michael gazed seriously at Chronos. “Your son, along with half of Olympus, is already standing at the edge of a cliff. One wrong step and it’s an abyss of no return.”
After listening, Chronos’s expression rapidly changed, anger appearing in the depths of his eyes.
“This fool…”
“[The Black Goat] has already set Her sights on this place. For safety, I must guard the moon’s seal,” Michael slowly spoke. “As for Olympus…”
“I’ll go back,” Chronos decisively said. “I can ignore his internal strife with Nyx, but if he dares to contact those Cthulhu beings… I absolutely won’t let him off.”
Michael nodded slightly. “I leave it to you.”
The time rings in Chronos’s eyes rotated, and his form gradually faded from the moon’s surface, disappearing without a trace.
Michael looked at the more than a thousand time-frozen offspring of [The Black Goat] surrounding him, coldness appearing in his eyes. He thrust the golden holy sword in his hand into the formation’s focal point, and a brilliant golden domain spread like a tidal wave, instantly vaporizing and crushing these frozen monsters!
