Chapter 1342 Leaving the Future
Skadi looked down at her own hands, frozen in place.
Verdandi and Urd, seeing this scene, immediately looked troubled.
“It seems fate has made the choice for you,” Odin calmly spoke. “From the moment you stood here, you… have no future left.”
Verdandi gritted her teeth, gripping her spear tightly, and simultaneously with her “past” self, thrust toward the central black hole. Two terrifying pillars of divine power shot into the sky, barely tearing it apart. The surrounding space continuously distorted as they grabbed Skadi and flashed away, instantly teleporting several kilometers away.
“Sister…” Skadi stood behind the two, her eyes already red, her lips trembling uncontrollably.
“Don’t be afraid, Skadi.” Verdandi’s eyes softened as she stroked Skadi’s hair and spoke gently, “Listen to your sister… when we start fighting, run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. No matter what you see or hear, don’t worry about it, understand?”
“I won’t.” Skadi shook her head firmly. “I don’t want to leave my sisters!”
“Skadi!” Urd’s voice grew serious. “This is not the time for stubbornness. The three of us cannot all die here… you are our ‘future,’ even if we die, you must survive.
Only if you survive will everything we’re doing now have meaning, understand?”
Skadi opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to say something more, but seeing Urd’s hopeful gaze, she swallowed her words.
“Ragnarök is now inevitable; the Norse realm likely won’t escape this calamity.” Verdandi spoke resignedly. “After you leave, go find Lin Qiye. He needs your divine realm and won’t abandon you… this way, no matter what happens to Asgard, the Great Xia gods will keep you safe.”
“Sister…” Tears flowed uncontrollably from Skadi’s eyes.
“Go!”
Verdandi took a deep breath and turned to look at Odin walking slowly toward them, that crimson insect eye writhing in its socket, eerily sinister.
Verdandi and Urd exchanged a glance, explosively releasing all their divine power. Their forms transformed into two astonishing blurs charging toward Odin. The surrounding earth and debris were shattered by the shockwaves they created, falling from the sky like dust…
Skadi stood watching this scene, her fingernails digging deep into her palms, her body constantly trembling.
A moment later, she finally gritted her teeth, stomped her feet forcefully on the ground, and sprinted in the direction opposite from the battlefield!
Seeing Skadi escape, Verdandi’s expression finally relaxed somewhat. With no more worries behind her, she fixed her eyes on Odin before her, her pupils bursting with frenzied battle spirit!
“Odin, come fight!!”
…
Asgard.
Elsewhere.
A figure stepped over the rubble covering the streets after the destruction of the temple, looking around in confusion.
The once magnificent temple complex was now in ruins. As far as the eye could see was nothing but devastation, as if he were the only person left in this desolate world.
“What is…” Bragi frowned, his eyes filled with confusion.
He knew Asgard had encountered some great disaster, but he never imagined things had become this serious.
As Bragi walked alone, a figure staggered out from the ruins. From a distance, it appeared vaguely humanoid, but its body was covered with huge tumors, making it look like a grotesque, disgusting monster.
This suddenly appearing figure startled Bragi.
He grabbed the harp on his back, staring intently at the monster, nervously swallowing.
Don’t come over, don’t come over, don’t come over… Bragi prayed silently, stepping backward.
As the God of Music, Bragi had almost zero combat ability. With this extremely clear self-awareness, he instinctively avoided conflict with any being… especially since this monster’s appearance was too bizarre, clearly not something that should exist in Asgard, and likely the “disaster” Urd had mentioned.
“Bra…gi?”
Just as Bragi was continuously backing away, even preparing to turn and run, the monster whimpered and spoke, calling out Bragi’s name.
Bragi froze, stopping his retreat and squinting at the monster limping toward him…
“Vali?”
Recognizing the monster, Bragi exclaimed, “How can it be you?”
Bragi was very familiar with this tumor-covered monster before him. They had known each other for many years in Asgard, and while they weren’t particularly close, they could be considered friends.
Now seeing his acquaintance in this state, Bragi couldn’t hide his shock. He stepped forward to support the other, unable to help asking, “How did you become like this?”
Crimson insect eyes writhed on Vali’s body surface, making Bragi’s scalp tingle. Vali grabbed Bragi’s wrist and spoke unclearly, “Kill me… quickly… kill me…”
Bragi stood frozen in place.
At that moment, Vali’s tumor and insect-eye covered right hand suddenly raised up, grabbing like an iron clamp toward Bragi’s throat!
Bragi’s pupils suddenly contracted. Without thinking, he flashed backward, his form leaving an afterimage where he stood, instantly retreating hundreds of meters away.
Vali’s right hand grabbed at nothing but air.
Such speed surprised even Bragi himself. He stood there in confusion, looking down at his legs, speaking puzzledly:
“Strange… when did I become this fast?”
Bragi himself didn’t realize that after Idunn’s law had completely merged with him, the double main god-level divine power had stacked, breaking through the barriers of a conventional main god… now he was a dual god of both music and youth.
“Kill me… Bragi…” Vali’s tumor-covered right hand twisted at an eerie angle in the air. He stiffly turned his head, his bloodshot eyes full of pain,
“Their voices… are driving me mad! Kill me!”
The crimson insects all over Vali’s body began to writhe rapidly. He let out a roar like a wild beast, then flew toward Bragi at an alarming speed!
