Chapter 1256 Destroying the City Mountain Corpse
The Underworld.
Wails echoed across the land, ghost fires flickering.
Under the dark red sky, a pale skeletal palace stood silently at the end of the river of suffering, like a mountain of white bones.
Countless black ravens, as if emerging from nothingness, circled around the skeletal palace for a long time before converging into a black-robed figure that stepped onto the entrance stairs.
Loki brushed off the corner of his robe that had been struck by lightning, raising his head nonchalantly as he walked straight into the skeletal palace.
As he ventured deeper, the light around him gradually dissipated, as if a giant mouth was greedily devouring all brightness. After an unknown amount of time, clusters of pale green ghost fires ignited above like stars.
By the faint light of the ghost fires, one could see that there were no pillars inside the dim palace. The ceiling seemed to be held up by some mysterious force, majestically suspended in mid-air.
“Is that you?”
A woman’s voice came from the depths of the hall. As soon as she spoke, countless ghost fires gathered toward the direction of the voice, illuminating a corner of the darkness.
A tall woman in a dark green dress was standing in the depths of the hall, squinting as she gazed at Loki.
“You’re injured?” Her gaze fell on the corner of Loki’s robe as she asked with surprise.
“Just a slight graze. As we expected, Thor has fallen into a rage upon his return,” Loki said dismissively. “How is Sif?”
“She suffered a bit, but she’s behaving now.”
“Good.” Loki nodded. “As long as Sif remains missing, Thor won’t be able to focus on competing with me for the throne. After seven days, even if he comes to his senses, it will be too late.”
“Why must it be seven days? What else do you have planned?” the woman asked.
“…Hehe.”
Loki gave a dry laugh without elaborating.
“By the way, are those things all prepared?” he said, changing the subject.
Seeing that Loki was unwilling to reveal more, the woman frowned slightly, seemingly displeased, but still raised her hand and gestured behind her.
The darkness behind her parted like curtains, and the walls of the skeletal palace visibly retracted into the white bone ceiling. The place where they stood was now a towering watchtower.
The whimpering cold wind brushed against Loki’s cheeks as his gaze fell on the distance, his eyes narrowing slightly.
At the other end of the horizon, twelve mountains formed a line. Dark red light scattered from the sky, casting these mountains in a blood-red hue.
As the woman raised her palm, the twelve mountains began to tremble slightly. Enormous heads slowly rose from the mountainsides, and the howls of countless vengeful souls mixed with the clicking sounds of colliding bones carried to Loki’s ears on the cold wind.
The earth rumbled, rocks tumbled down, and those twelve majestic mountains revealed their ferocious fangs in the blood-colored light.
“The City-Destroying Mountain Corpses, twelve in total, all here,” the woman said flatly.
Loki’s gaze swept over them, and he nodded with satisfaction:
“As expected of you, Hela.”
Hela, Queen of the Underworld, gently lowered her raised hand, and the twelve awakened City-Destroying Mountain Corpses curled back together, returning to stillness.
“With just these City-Destroying Mountain Corpses alone, half of Asgard could be leveled. Loki, are you certain?” Hela asked solemnly.
“Level Asgard?” Loki chuckled. “Why would I do that?”
Hela was taken aback. “Aren’t you using these City-Destroying Mountain Corpses to compete for the throne?”
“Thor is no match for me. Since Asgard will eventually fall into my hands, why would I go to such lengths to destroy it?”
“Then why did you have me prepare these things?”
Loki’s eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled without answering.
“You’ll know when the time comes…” Loki turned and slowly walked toward the exit of the skeletal palace.
The inner walls of the skeletal palace extended down from the ceiling again, obscuring the distant view as darkness once more enveloped the hall. Just then, a thunderous roar came from the clouds.
Upon hearing the thunder, Loki’s step suddenly halted mid-air.
He looked up in astonishment at the falling lightning, his brows furrowed.
“Is it Thor?” Hela asked in surprise. “How did he know Sif is here?”
Loki didn’t speak, his expression rapidly darkening. The thick bolt of lightning struck just in front of the skeletal palace, dense lightning dancing in the air as several figures slowly emerged.
“I sense Loki’s presence.” Hoder the Blind God slowly released his grip on Lin Qiye’s shoulder, his tightly closed eyes looking toward the interior of the skeletal palace.
Hearing this, Thor knew that Lin Qiye’s prophecy was correct.
“Loki!” Thor gripped his silver hammer, dense lightning intertwining at its tip. “Come out and face me!!”
Moments later, two figures slowly emerged from the skeletal palace.
“How surprising.” Loki ignored the swirling lightning, his narrow eyes fixed on Thor. “How did you find this place?”
Before Thor could answer, Loki’s gaze fell on Lin Qiye and No. 22 behind him.
“Hmm?” His eyes narrowed slightly.
“I’ll say it one last time… hand over Sif!” Thor’s eyes flashed with deep blue lightning, his aura rising steadily as a terrifying divine presence suddenly descended.
“And if I don’t?” Loki replied languidly.
BOOM—!!!
Before Loki finished speaking, Thor transformed into a giant lightning figure and charged directly toward the skeletal palace!
Pale lightning indiscriminately swept across the surroundings, the destructive power contained within making Lin Qiye’s heart tremble.
Thor was indeed a first-tier god of the Norse pantheon, his power far beyond what other deities could compare to. Lin Qiye had no doubt that just one of these lightning bolts striking him would easily roast him to charcoal.
“Hoder! Take Myles and use his prophecy to find Sif! Leave this to me!”
Thor’s voice came from within the lightning. Without any hesitation, Hoder grabbed the wrist of Lin Qiye, who had no time to react, and their forms disappeared into the darkness, rapidly vanishing from the battlefield.
In Lin Qiye’s perception, the terrifying lightning grew more and more distant, quickly fading into complete silence.
After an unknown amount of time, Hoder, still gripping his wrist, emerged from beneath a huge boulder.
Lin Qiye looked back to see several divine powers clashing in the distance. The dark red sky had been covered by black thunderclouds, and endless lightning intertwined like a forest amid the roaring explosions.
In all likelihood, Thor, Tyr, Hela, and Loki were now locked in battle, while No. 22, wielding the [Scepter], was forced to remain on the battlefield, waiting for an opportunity to act.
However, with the battlefield’s aftermath being so devastating, whether he could survive was indeed a difficult question.
Of course, Lin Qiye would prefer if he perished right there, which would reduce the threat to himself.
Just then, a deep voice came from behind him:
“Begin your prophecy, Myles.”
