Chapter 1197 This Prophet Has Some Real Skill

In the empty room, Lin Qiye’s brow furrowed deeper.

If divine beings couldn’t enter, what about Numbers 03 and 04?

If they also couldn’t enter, then…

Countless thoughts flashed through Lin Qiye’s mind in an instant. Certain obscure clues connected together, and his heart immediately sank.

“This is bad…” Lin Qiye muttered, watching Number 22’s retreating figure.

He immediately stood up from his chair and pushed open the door.

The remaining traders waiting outside the door looked confused when Lin Qiye suddenly emerged.

“All subsequent transactions are canceled,” Lin Qiye said gravely. “My trading ends here today. If you want information, go find other agents to trade with.”

The many agents who had been queuing for a long time looked displeased at his inexplicable cancellation of trades. However, this was a gathering, and Lin Qiye, as the one possessing information, certainly had the right to refuse transactions. Despite their resentment, they could only disperse and seek out other agents who had just traded with Lin Qiye.

Number 27 silently watched Lin Qiye’s departing figure, gradually clenching his fists.

Lin Qiye passed through the second-floor corridor, glancing at the room where Numbers 03 and 22 were trading, and quickly descended the stairs.

“Finished trading so soon?” He Lin asked in surprise as Lin Qiye came downstairs.

“No, but we’re out of time,” Lin Qiye looked around and said with a grave expression, “We should leave this place as soon as possible!”

“Leave now? What happened?”

Lin Qiye turned to look at the second floor and said solemnly, “I’m not certain yet, but I feel that… Numbers 03 and 04’s objectives might not be so simple.”

Without time to explain further to He Lin, Lin Qiye walked directly to Number 01 in the corner.

“I want to leave early.”

Number 01 looked up at Lin Qiye. “Why?”

“Someone has targeted my identity as a prophet and wants to harm me,” Lin Qiye stared at the shadow under the hood. “Isn’t your primary purpose to ensure the safety of participating agents? Now my safety is threatened, I want to leave early.”

Number 01 warned, “Number 33, I believe I mentioned what happens to those who spread false information… If you’re feeling guilty about spreading false information and trying to escape under the pretext of life safety, you’ll be hunted down no matter where you flee.”

“I’m not lying. My life is genuinely in danger,” Lin Qiye paused. “I swear by the name of the Magic God.”

Number 01 remained silent for a moment, scanning the busy venue, then nodded slightly:

“You may go.”

Without another word, Lin Qiye immediately left Notre Dame Cathedral through the back door with He Lin.

“What exactly happened?” He Lin couldn’t help asking once they were back in the mist.

“Those Numbers 03 and 04 are very suspicious,” Lin Qiye said gravely. “Tell me, as divine beings, why would they participate in an agent gathering?”

“Because they want information available here but don’t have agents of their own?” He Lin guessed after thinking for a moment.

“Exactly,” Lin Qiye nodded. “Their goal is clues to the King’s Treasury. I think they must have learned through some channel that an agent who knows the whereabouts of the King’s Treasury would be attending this gathering. But time was too tight to find their own agents, so they had to disguise themselves as agents to infiltrate.

They very likely come from Zeus’s faction in Olympus.”

“Zeus’s faction… but what does that have to do with us? Why are we running?”

“The King’s Treasury left by Gilgamesh cannot be entered by divine beings.”

He Lin was momentarily stunned by these words, not understanding Lin Qiye’s meaning at first, but quickly realized something.

“Divine beings can’t enter, you mean…”

“The gods of Zeus’s faction want the King’s Treasury, but they can’t enter themselves… so the best solution is to find someone below divine rank but with sufficient strength to help them retrieve it,” Lin Qiye turned back to look at Notre Dame Cathedral shrouded in mist.

“In this case, divine agents are the best choice.”

“Send divine agents in to retrieve it? Through threats or temptation?”

“Hard to say, but I think it’s more likely the former.

They haven’t cultivated their own agents. If they merely use benefits to entice other agents to help them retrieve the King’s Treasury, not only would it cost them enormously, but there’s also the risk of information leakage.

You should know better than I what kind of people these divine agents living in the mist are. These profit-driven individuals, if they learn about something like the King’s Treasury, the first thing they’ll do is secretly pass the information to their own divine backers in exchange for sufficient benefits, profiting from both sides.”

Lin Qiye paused,

“If it’s coercion, as divine beings, they only need to subdue a group of agents, place some restrictions on them, and force them to work for them. This way, they don’t need to spend resources and can firmly control everyone.”

“Aren’t they afraid of retaliation from the divine beings behind these agents afterward?”

“As you said, the relationship between most agents and divine beings is purely utilitarian. Would you quarrel with another god of equal rank just because your tool was forcibly borrowed? As long as the agents don’t die or get severely injured, things won’t escalate.

Besides, if they can obtain the King’s Treasury, what does it matter if they make a few enemies?”

“The King’s Treasury left by Gilgamesh certainly won’t be easy to obtain. There must be mechanisms in place, so even if they want to find agents as guinea pigs to go in, they need ones with sufficient strength…

And now, more than half of the divine agents in the mist are gathered here. This gathering is the perfect opportunity for them to select their guinea pigs!”

The more He Lin thought about it, the more he felt Lin Qiye made sense.

He looked back at Notre Dame Cathedral in the mist, which now seemed not only mysterious but also terrifying.

…

At the agent gathering.

Number 03 walked out of Number 22’s room. Since Number 22 needed to draw a map on the spot, it had taken quite some time.

He walked directly to the room where Lin Qiye had been, only to find it empty.

Under his hood, his eyes revealed surprise.

At the same time, Number 04 silently approached from behind.

“Where’s the prophet, Number 33?” Number 03 asked gravely.

“Left early,” Number 04 replied.

“Left early? Did he discover something?”

“Probably not. These humans couldn’t possibly see through our disguise… unless he foresaw something.”

Number 04 paused,

“It seems this prophet does have some ability…”

…
