Chapter 1180 Deteriorating Gilgamesh

Lin Qiye carefully walked through the underground prison once more, but found no trace of angels, demons, or even a single crawler.

“Strange…” Lin Qiye bowed his head in thought.

This was the first time that after killing mythical creatures, they didn’t appear in the hospital’s dungeon.

After pondering for a long time, he could only think of three possibilities.

First, those K-system creatures were of a higher level than this hospital, making it impossible to collect their souls.

This possibility was rejected by Lin Qiye the moment it occurred to him. This hospital could collect the souls of god-level beings like Rifle without hesitation, so how could a few corpse-controlling crawlers escape?

The second possibility was that these crawlers had no souls at all, so even after death, they wouldn’t be collected by the hospital.

The final possibility was that these K-system creatures didn’t meet the hospital’s collection criteria.

Lin Qiye specifically reviewed the prompt template for collecting orderlies again, and the most likely source of error was the term “mythical creatures.”

This hospital could only collect the souls of mythical creatures.

If K-system creatures couldn’t be collected, was it possible they simply didn’t qualify as mythical creatures?

Lin Qiye vaguely remembered Merlin saying something similar… but if they weren’t mythical creatures, what could they be?

After pondering in the dungeon for a long time without finding an answer, he could only leave for now.

Just as he pushed open the director’s door, he saw Bragi rushing down the corridor with his harp, almost colliding with Lin Qiye.

“Where are you rushing to?”

“To play music!” Bragi glanced at the time on the wall and said hurriedly, “It’s almost time, and those two are waiting for me…”

Without waiting for Lin Qiye to say anything more, he rushed straight toward the other end of the corridor.

But when he was halfway there, the roaring sounds of battle came from the courtyard.

Bragi suddenly froze in place.

“Looks like they couldn’t wait for you.”

Lin Qiye walked to Bragi’s side and glanced at the two people who had begun fighting in the courtyard, saying helplessly.

Bragi stared at the battlefield in confusion and said, “That’s impossible… they always used to wait for me. Why have they been getting more and more impatient lately? The time hasn’t even come yet…”

Lin Qiye and Bragi walked to the edge of the courtyard battlefield, where some idle orderlies were placing bets and watching the show. Although Bragi was a few minutes late, he still professionally found the right opportunity to blend his stirring music into the battle.

“Have you noticed that King Gilgamesh’s state hasn’t been normal lately?”

“Yeah, even though the time hasn’t come yet and Monkey King wasn’t ready, he rushed to attack… feels a bit reckless.”

“Is he trying to ambush? That doesn’t seem like King Gilgamesh’s character.”

“Could it be that being constantly suppressed by Monkey King has broken his mental state?”

“I don’t think that’s it…”

“…”

Lin Qiye listened to the discussions of the surrounding orderlies while watching the battle between Sun Wukong and Gilgamesh, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.

The battle situation wasn’t much different from before, with Gilgamesh consistently at a disadvantage, but what was slightly different this time was that his attacks were unusually aggressive, even frenzied, as if he wanted to fight Sun Wukong to the death.

Though Sun Wukong’s expression was solemn, his movements were extremely steady, like a towering mountain in a storm, able to firmly parry no matter how Gilgamesh attacked.

Finally, with a muffled sound, Gilgamesh’s figure was sent flying backward.

Today, Sun Wukong was victorious once again.

Seeing the outcome decided, Lin Qiye immediately stood up from his seat and walked toward where Gilgamesh had fallen, accompanied by the worried Bragi clutching his harp.

The devastated green field was slowly repairing itself. Gilgamesh lay on the ground, his eyes staring blankly at the sky, his brows tightly knit, sometimes confused, sometimes struggling.

“…whoever dares to violate Uruk, I shall kill them!”

“The fate of Uruk is only in the hands of myself and my people. If you gods dare to interfere, I will kill each one of you who comes…”

“No, that’s not right… Uruk has already fallen… where am I…”

“I… I…”

Seeing Gilgamesh muttering on the ground, Bragi became increasingly anxious. He grabbed Sun Wukong’s shoulder and quickly said:

“Monkey King, wasn’t this just a sparring match? Why did you hit so hard that you’ve made Gilgamesh’s brain go stupid?”

Sun Wukong glanced at him, his gaze as if looking at an idiot.

“This isn’t Monkey King’s doing,” Lin Qiye frowned as he looked at the void above Gilgamesh’s head and said coldly, “Something else is interfering with his memories.”

In Lin Qiye’s vision, Gilgamesh’s treatment progress bar was frantically jumping back and forth.

“Gilgamesh treatment progress 40%…”

“Gilgamesh treatment progress 34%…”

“Treatment progress 38%…”

“Treatment progress 35%…”

The left and right swinging of the progress bar momentarily left Lin Qiye at a loss.

Until now, he had at most seen Bragi’s progress drop all at once, but this was the first time he had seen it fall by itself and then rise again by itself.

During their last conversation, Gilgamesh had mentioned that his memories were being tampered with, and from the current situation, his condition was getting increasingly serious.

The reason the progress bar would rise again was entirely due to Gilgamesh’s own willpower and belief, fighting against the false memories.

“His condition is unusual,” Sun Wukong put away his golden cudgel, his golden eyes fixed on Gilgamesh. “Some force is interfering with his soul, and it’s getting stronger…”

“Monkey King, can you tell what it is?”

“…No.” Sun Wukong shook his head. “However, the problem definitely isn’t in this hospital. It must be someone from the outside world using something related to him to remotely interfere with his soul.”

“Something related to him?” Lin Qiye frowned deeply. “Who could it be…”

Sun Wukong didn’t speak. He just frowned slightly and directly stomped on Gilgamesh’s chest!

Gilgamesh’s body immediately sank into the ground.

He instinctively tried to resist, but Sun Wukong had already raised his tightly clenched fists and hammered them down on him like raindrops!

The heavy force of his punches made the courtyard tremble incessantly, with rolling dust rising up. As Gilgamesh’s body continued to sink, the fluctuating treatment progress bar above his head actually began to steadily recover.

Bang—!

As a hand reached out from the ground and grabbed Sun Wukong’s fist, a hint of clarity finally returned to Gilgamesh’s struggling eyes.

He stared blankly at the three people before him, and after a long while, closed his eyes bitterly.

“How pathetic…”
