Chapter 1132 Silhouette
Sprinting without a moment’s rest, Lin Qiye and his companion quickly reached the top of the mountain.
As soon as they stepped onto the summit, the two saw a huge circular crater before them. Dense cracks spread from around the crater, connecting to the surface of the mountain beneath them, as if a world-shaking battle had once occurred at the center of this crater.
“What is that?”
An Qingyu’s gaze fell on the center of the crater, where a massive shadow stood. All the cracks across the mountain extended from beneath its feet.
Upon seeing that figure, Lin Qiye frowned, his expression somewhat puzzled.
He hesitated for a moment, then closed his eyes again to carefully sense it, asking with confusion: “Strange… why can’t my spiritual power detect that thing’s existence?”
An Qingyu pushed up his glasses, squinting hard, seemingly trying to make out the shape of that shadow. Vaguely, he could see the outline of six white wings drooping to the ground’s surface, and its hands seemed to be gripping a giant sword thrust into the mountain.
“Six white wings, holding a giant sword?” Hearing An Qingyu’s description, Lin Qiye was stunned, Michael’s image quickly appearing in his mind. “A Seraph… is it Michael?”
Could it be that Michael, after hunting down Odin, saw the message he left in Heaven and came down to Hell to find them?
This thought appeared in Lin Qiye’s mind for an instant before he immediately rejected it.
Impossible.
If Michael had seen Hell’s current state, he would never just sit quietly in the center of the crater. He would certainly rush up to seal the gap continuously raining down ash, then slaughter every demon and vengeful spirit in Heaven and Hell.
Whatever was sitting in the center of the crater, it definitely wasn’t Michael.
“Don’t get close to it,” Lin Qiye said seriously. “We’ll go around the outer edge of the crater. Don’t make contact with it.”
An Qingyu nodded, and the two figures in deep red cloaks quickly moved along the edge of the crater at the mountaintop.
Though the mountain wasn’t tall, the summit area seemed far larger than they had imagined. They ran around the crater for nearly a minute without reaching the other side of the peak, but the figure sitting in the center became increasingly clear in their vision.
Its face was turned toward the other side of the crater, so from Lin Qiye and his companion’s angle, they could only see its back.
Just as An Qingyu had said, it was a massive figure with six pure white wings on its back, holding a giant sword. From behind, it looked almost identical to Michael.
The difference was that its wings were covered in blood stains, the feathers withering, as if someone had forcibly torn several gaps in them. The giant sword thrust into the ground was more exaggerated in shape than Michael’s, and its blade was also covered in blood stains.
“Something’s wrong!”
An Qingyu immediately stopped, looking around with a grave expression. “Before climbing the mountain, I scanned its structure. It couldn’t possibly be this large. At our speed, we should have crossed over the peak long ago.”
“Since entering this crater, my spiritual perception seems to have failed,” Lin Qiye said with furrowed brows. “I can’t sense the figure in the center of the crater, nor can I sense our movement… Something in this place is interfering with my [Mortal Divine Domain].”
“There’s one more thing, have you noticed?”
“What?”
An Qingyu extended his hand, pointing at the figure in the center of the crater, his face extremely grim.
“No matter how we run, from whatever angle we look, it… always has its back to us.”
Lin Qiye’s eyes narrowed, his mind instantly recalling the back view they saw when they first stepped onto the peak. Although he couldn’t see whether the figure was facing forward or backward because of the distance, during their movement since then, that back view indeed hadn’t rotated at all, not even showing a profile.
“It’s him! He’s rewriting space-time!”
Lin Qiye’s mind raced. Gritting his teeth, he summoned the [Somersault Cloud] beneath their feet again.
Now was not the time to worry about being discovered by demons if they flew up. Although the figure sitting in the center of the crater hadn’t moved so far, instinct told him that figure was far more terrifying than dozens or hundreds of demons!
They absolutely could not stay here any longer.
The [Somersault Cloud] carried the two, swiftly flying through the sky. An Qingyu stood at the edge of the cloud, watching with his own eyes as the mountain peak gradually receded, finally allowing his suspended heart to settle.
Fortunately, nothing unexpected had happened.
After letting out a long breath, An Qingyu seemed to remember something and took the severed arm frozen in frost from his waist, examining it carefully.
“You brought that thing out?” Lin Qiye caught sight of this from the corner of his eye while piloting the cloud, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes.” An Qingyu nodded, curiosity flashing in his eyes. “This severed arm I cut off has been corrupted by the Cthulhu contamination in the ash, becoming part of the power of the Cthulhu deity. This might be the first Cthulhu pantheon specimen humans have ever obtained, with extremely high research value.”
“You want to dissect it? Isn’t that too risky?”
“Perhaps, but only by better understanding them can we find their weaknesses… Honestly, this is something probably only I can do in the world.” An Qingyu calmly replied. “Besides, I’ll take protective measures. The residual power in this arm is almost incapable of harming me.”
Seeing this, Lin Qiye didn’t try to dissuade him further, just nodding.
In terms of dissection and analysis, An Qingyu was undoubtedly the strongest in the world. He was a prodigy who could even decode the spiritual energy of the Heavenly Court. Perhaps he really could decode the weaknesses of the Cthulhu pantheon.
Lin Qiye opened his mouth, about to say something, when his body suddenly froze on the cloud.
After a moment of shock, his face visibly paled.
“What’s wrong?” An Qingyu immediately asked, sensing Lin Qiye’s abnormality.
“This isn’t right…” Lin Qiye murmured while piloting the cloud. “Why hasn’t my spiritual perception changed?”
“What do you mean? [Mortal Divine Domain] is still failing?”
“I don’t know, but when I spread out my spiritual power, I still receive images of us in the crater…” Lin Qiye looked at the sky above, his voice somewhat hoarse. “And don’t you find it strange?
We’ve been flying for so long, yet no demons have appeared…”
An Qingyu’s pupils suddenly contracted!
Almost simultaneously, the space-time around them bizarrely distorted, as if an invisible hand had grabbed their bodies, forcibly pulling them back in time. Everything around them rapidly rewound!
In an instant, the sky before them disappeared, replaced by that familiar, crack-filled crater. Now, they were less than fifty meters from the figure with six pure white wings in the center of the crater!
In the deathly silent sky, ash fell like a blizzard.
Under their gaze, the figure that had always had its back to them trembled slightly, shaking off the ash covering its body. Its waist turned, as if it was about to face them!
