Chapter 1046 Schemes and Tricks

He didn’t touch his nose.

An Qingyu also noticed this point, his pupils slightly contracting.

For this situation, An Qingyu could only think of three possibilities.

First, Leng Xuan agreed with Si Xiaonan’s lie and felt that not being able to return to Asgard in time was a regrettable thing.

Second, he forgot.

Third… he wasn’t Leng Xuan.

An Qingyu’s brain worked at high speed. He raised his hand and casually touched his own nose,

“In that case, let’s quickly search this area. We might find other clues.”

Touching the nose meant saying the opposite, so An Qingyu’s true meaning was: don’t rush to act, just stay put and wait.

Si Xiaonan understood An Qingyu’s intention and quietly looked at Leng Xuan beside her.

Leng Xuan nodded slightly, his gaze scanning the surroundings, quickly selecting a direction and walking out with quick steps.

Seeing this, An Qingyu and Si Xiaonan’s hearts completely sank.

Two consecutive instances of saying the opposite, and Leng Xuan had no reaction. This couldn’t possibly be a matter of forgetting… only one possibility remained.

He wasn’t Leng Xuan.

Si Xiaonan’s face turned deathly pale. Her eyes fixed tightly on the direction Leng Xuan had gone, her lips trembling uncontrollably.

If he wasn’t Leng Xuan… then who could he be?

Leng Xuan walked a few steps, noticed the two hadn’t followed, turned back and slowly said,

“Xiaonan, what’s wrong?”

A gentle breeze brushed against his sleeve, and on the back of that black snake arm, Loki’s ear had completely disappeared.

Si Xiaonan felt her heart skip a beat, but rationality instantly took over her body. She tried her best to calm herself and spoke casually:

“Nothing, I’m coming.”

She stepped forward to follow Leng Xuan.

An Qingyu followed closely behind her, his eyes meeting Si Xiaonan’s. As Leng Xuan turned his head to continue walking, he silently mouthed:

“—Loki?”

Si Xiaonan pressed her lips together and nodded slightly.

An Qingyu’s expression immediately became extremely grave.

Could Loki, relying on that black ear, directly descend upon Leng Xuan from across the ocean? This method was far too bizarre.

This way, Loki had transformed from a behind-the-scenes listener to an active player, becoming a hidden piece on the board.

An Asgardian God of Mischief infiltrating Kunlun Void was absolutely not a good thing for Great Xia.

If not for the nose-touching signal exposing Loki’s identity in advance, even he and Si Xiaonan might not have noticed anything unusual.

An Qingyu’s brain began working rapidly, searching for a way to break this deadlock.

“Xiaonan.”

In the silent atmosphere, Leng Xuan suddenly spoke.

Si Xiaonan’s eyes contracted slightly, but she quickly regained composure. “What is it?”

Leng Xuan opened his mouth as if wanting to say something, but then silently shook his head. “Nothing…”

While saying these three words, he picked up a branch from the ground beside him and began writing in Chinese on the ground:

“—Can we really fool Loki by doing this?”

The moment she saw these words, Si Xiaonan was first stunned, then felt her scalp tingle with horror.

He’s testing me!

The man before her was definitely not Leng Xuan, but Loki possessing him. Si Xiaonan was certain of this.

But what she hadn’t expected was that after hiding the fact that he had descended upon Leng Xuan’s body, the first thing Loki did was to use Leng Xuan’s relationship with her to test her!

And he was even considerate enough to ask by writing with a branch rather than speaking aloud.

This was because Loki himself knew very clearly that if Si Xiaonan and Leng Xuan truly had a secret code, merely listening through an ear would never detect anything. There were too many loopholes to exploit.

Using writing on the ground instead of verbal communication was the simplest and most direct method… he had already determined that the two would do this.

First, he set up a barely useful ear for listening, then used writing to lower Si Xiaonan’s guard as much as possible before beginning his probe.

From the beginning, that ear was just a decoy. Loki’s test after his descent was the real killing move!

If Si Xiaonan hadn’t been so cautious and arranged the nose-touching signal in advance, she would certainly have been trapped by Loki by now. And once he discovered what she was doing, she would undoubtedly die.

Cold sweat broke out on Si Xiaonan’s back again.

In this smokeless battlefield of schemes, every step she took was like walking on a tightrope. The slightest slip would lead to irredeemable consequences.

Si Xiaonan steadied herself and wrote on the ground:

“—Fool him about what?”

She raised her head, looking at Leng Xuan with eyes full of confusion.

Leng Xuan silently gazed into her eyes, and they fell into silence as they stared at each other.

A cold wind swept across the dark mountain range, making the surrounding leaves rustle.

In the dappled tree shadows, Leng Xuan smiled.

His smile was very strange, like a poisonous snake in the darkness, coldly flicking its red tongue.

“Clever Xiaonan… you already sensed my arrival, didn’t you?”

Leng Xuan’s voice echoed ominously through the forest.

Si Xiaonan’s heart twitched slightly. She struggled to steady herself, her brows naturally furrowing. She pretended to be stunned for a moment, then as if realizing something, her expression turned grim:

“Loki?! What have you done to Leng Xuan?”

Seeing Si Xiaonan’s expression change so naturally, Leng Xuan… no, Loki narrowed his eyes. After a moment, he chuckled,

“Care to guess?”

Si Xiaonan’s face darkened completely.

“Let me guess how you detected my presence.” Loki spoke softly, raising his hand to lightly touch his nose. “It was this, wasn’t it?”

Si Xiaonan and An Qingyu’s eyes froze.

Loki said calmly: “This gesture was too obvious, and after you both did it and saw I had no reaction, your pupils contracted slightly. Though subtle, it couldn’t escape my eyes…”

Si Xiaonan shook her head and spoke gravely,

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. We were just following your orders, exploring the depths of the Great Xia gods for you. Now that the mission has been completed as you wished, why are you targeting Leng Xuan?”

Looking at Si Xiaonan’s angry eyes, Loki couldn’t help but marvel:

“Xiaonan, you’ve truly grown a lot these years. Worthy of being my agent. Now, even I can barely see through you…”

“However, you’d better remember that I hold everything about you in my hands. You… cannot outmaneuver me.”

His gaze swept over An Qingyu nearby. With a slight lift of his fingertip, a sharp black light instantly flashed through the air, slicing toward An Qingyu’s neck.

This black light moved too fast, too fast for either of them to react.

With a light sound, An Qingyu’s head flew off, falling to the ground in a spray of blood.

His head rolled to Si Xiaonan’s feet.
