Chapter 9: The Lost! The Unruly Dragon Knight
The gold giant dragon, known for its ruthless nature, was already grateful for not bothering others; how could it risk danger to save someone in this situation? Its massive dragon eyes glinted with wild ferocity, wanting to hurl Morin off its back and tear him apart, even if it meant breaking its contract and facing punishment from the dragon kin.
Morin raised a uniquely shaped seven-inch dragon flute and coldly said, "If you say ‘no’ one more time, I will lock you inside this dragon flute and toss you into the Spatial Crack, banishing you for eternity." His voice seemed to come from hell, filled with determination and chill; this was not an empty threat. If the giant dragon continued to act as it always did, he would rather perish alongside this infuriating beast.
"You!" The gold giant dragon could only manage to utter a single word before its vocal cords were choked, its eyes nearly sparking with rage. Morin’s words were more threatening than a great forbidden spell; it truly believed Morin would go through with the plan to perish together. Being locked inside the dragon flute meant a dark, confined existence, and worse still, to be thrown into the Spatial Crack and lost in the chaos of space, sleeping until death without any hope of escape. For a giant dragon with endless lifespan, this prospect was even more despairing than death itself.
Every dragon flute that witnessed the dragon deity contract was incredibly precious, and almost no one would use it to imprison their contracted partner. It was Morin’s killer move to deal with the unruly giant dragon. After all, the length of time it took to seal a giant dragon meant that dragon flute could no longer be used, making it an unwise choice. Since the Dragon Knight pact was made between the dragon kin and humans, the number of dragon flutes would continue to decrease.
"Morin, you’re ruthless!" The gold giant dragon, Gold Coin, gasped heavily, its scales heaving as it struggled to contain its fury and killing intent. It knew Morin’s personality well enough to understand that he could follow through on his threats. With an overwhelming reluctance, it turned and flew toward Akka and the fire giant dragon, Misael, who were being pulled in by the Spatial Crack.
Compared to the dread of being permanently imprisoned or consumed by the Spatial Crack—essentially a matter of life or death—Morin’s words forced the gold giant dragon to gamble everything, as the dragon flute in Morin’s hands was its sole means of restraint.
"Break through! Use all your strength to unleash your force field and push them away!" Morin ordered the gold giant dragon without hesitation, even if it meant completely severing ties with Gold Coin and becoming a Dragon Knight without a giant dragon partner, or facing pursuit by the dragon kin.
The gold giant dragon’s Void Magnetism had a similar effect to the gravitational pull of the Spatial Crack, capable of counteracting a significant portion of it. The dragon’s armored body retracted all its sharp spikes and continuously evaded the reaching Spatial Cracks.
Seeing Morin navigate the gold giant dragon recklessly toward him, Akka understood Morin’s intent and frantically shouted, "No! Morin, you’ve lost your mind! Don’t come closer! Just go!"
Roar… The fire giant dragon, Misael, looked at the gold giant dragon, which usually disregarded him, charged over, disbelief in its eyes. It was soon hit by a wave of pain and blasted away, moving farther from the grip of the Spatial Crack.
In comparison, the two-legged dragon and Glan, the son of the civil affairs minister, who were captured by the fire giant dragon, fared no better. They both screamed in agony, spewing blood, with Glan losing his composure and cursing Morin at the top of his lungs. That lowly Dragon Knight was clearly seeking revenge against him, unaware of the dangers within the attack range of the large spatial forbidden spell.
As he struck the fire giant dragon, Morin put the dragon flute tightly against himself and shouted, "No! Not enough! Gold Coin, blast the Void Magnetism! If we survive, my life belongs to you!" He felt the immense pull of the Spatial Crack exceed his expectations. To save Akka, he was willing to risk everything; he could not stand by and watch Akka and Misael swallowed into the Spatial Crack.
As for Glan, that insignificant creature, Morin had zero interest in his fate; the second-generation heir’s life or death was of no concern to him.
"Morin! You are going to have a terrible ending!" The gold giant dragon’s furious roar reflected despair. How did it end up with such a reckless knight partner? Was it truly paying back a debt from a past life all at once? It knew better than anyone that Morin was not someone the golden dragon could control, not just any Little Chicken.
Though filled with fury, Gold Coin felt helpless. The dragon flute that bore witness to the Dragon Knight pact was firmly in Morin’s possession; it clearly understood the consequences of saying ‘no.’ Given that they were already trapped, the situation could not get any worse.
The fragile Glan could hardly bear the intensity of Morin and the gold giant dragon’s escalating power, as if the Reaper itself were raising a scythe to harvest lives above him. He let out a scream, and from inside his gleaming magic silver armor, a foul odor began to seep through the seams, making those around him gag.
The gold giant dragon, shimmering with a metallic gleam, trembled as its electric field barrier exploded, unleashing a chaotic wave of magnetic force that spread in all directions, visible as rippling patterns with strange light curves.
Morin’s light battle energy almost burned with a tangible golden flame, exploding with a roar that surpassed that of the fire element; the intensity eclipsed even what the gold giant dragon, Gold Coin, was feeling on its back, turning its unique armor bright red, smoke rising as if it were on the verge of melting.
Even so, the gold giant dragon was significantly harmed by Morin’s explosive energy, but its thoughts were consumed by a single goal: to escape the pull of the gravitational field behind them, fiercely seeking the slim chance of survival.
After being struck, the fire giant dragon Misael and the Dragon Knight Akka were propelled like cannonballs away from the Spatial Crack’s grasp due to the two successive explosions of energy.
The pitiful Glan and the unfortunate two-legged dragon were knocked out, completely unconscious, and from the start, Morin never considered their fates.
"Morin… you bastard!" Akka did not feel a shred of joy at escaping death; filled with sorrow, he shouted at Morin and Gold Coin, stretching his hand far toward them.
The Spatial Crack that had just drawn Akka and Misael in seemed to erupt in fury after the gold giant dragon exploded the magnetism field, suddenly expanding multiple times. The powerful pull from the chaotic dimensional space far exceeded what had previously drawn in Misael. Even as Morin burned the last of his battle energy and Gold Coin exerted every bit of its strength, they could not withstand the force.
"Ha! Akka! If you want to live, you better take good care of your Onisha and your sister Luna!" Morin smiled with a sense of accomplishment, waving goodbye as he saw a shadow flash behind the fire giant dragon Misael. The silhouette of the shadow dragon and its rider, Geldael, appeared behind Misael. The shadow dragon swiftly grabbed Misael with its front claws and quickly escaped the pull of the great forbidden spell’s gravitational field, flying further away alongside the other Dragon Knights, with Glan and his cohort of misfortune dragged along, fortuitously escaping the danger zone.
The shadow Dragon Knight Geldael gazed at Morin with distant, silent emerald-green eyes filled with regret.
At this moment, saving one meant saving another; having rescued Misael was already a stroke of luck. He could do nothing more for Morin and Gold Coin. The Su Lan Empire had no silver Dragon Knights of the space element, and even if there were, they could not freely rescue people in such a frenzied Spatial Crack. He had only managed to rescue the fire giant dragon and its knight thanks to the explosive power unleashed by the Void Magnetism.
"Akka has her Onisha and sister Luna, while I have nothing. Being unburdened isn’t bad; at least not too many people will mourn for me, so it feels like I’ve gained something!" Morin smiled liberatingly, never imagining that his humble life could bring forth such a bold and explosive act.
The gold giant dragon Gold Coin was now completely panicked, roaring wildly as it desperately flapped its wings to escape the gravitational pull. Suddenly, a vast darkness enveloped the gold giant dragon and Morin…
Boom…
The "Absolute Spatial Prison Forbidden Spell," bursting with countless crackling textures, transformed into a colossal black sphere, reaching up to the sky and down to the ground. Once the Texi Empire’s mage corps could no longer provide any magical energy, the sphere seemed to tremble and gradually become transparent, disappearing as if it had never existed.
The previously dark clouds in the sky revealed a large void, disclosing a clear blue sky once more. Under the devouring power of the space, brilliant sunlight poured down unobstructed, and countless people raised their hands, squinting and slowly adjusting to this sudden light.
The clash of the two forbidden spells, combined with the explosion of the large spatial forbidden spell, created a circular pit on the ground that nearly spanned the entire battlefield. Years later, it would likely transform into a beautiful lake.
A mournful wind swept across the silent battlefield; the surviving soldiers of the two empires no longer had the strength to fight, staring blankly at the enormous circular pit, as if the world had crumbled into nothing.
In the sky, a still-frightened dragon’s roar echoed, and both sides’ highest commanders found their minds blank. However, it could be expected that the ministers and the emperor would soon share their confusion, as everything that was to unfold would have nothing to do with what had vanished within the "Absolute Spatial Prison Forbidden Spell."
Perhaps this was an ending? Or maybe it was just the beginning!
