Chapter 8: The Absolute Spatial Prison Forbidden Spell
Even the earth element giant dragon, known for its defense, couldn’t withstand the tearing of the spatial cracks. The silver dragon, a spatial mage, caught in the violent spatial turbulence, was destined for permanent banishment.
Suddenly, the sky darkened as an immense force of attraction rushed forth from behind, causing the aerial knights in the sky to momentarily falter, their speed visibly reduced. Some flying beasts, not accustomed to speed, roared in frustration, flapping their wings desperately, but their efforts were futile against the force pulling them back. The knights shouted hoarsely, infusing every ounce of battle energy into their mounts, yet they still couldn’t resist the backward pull, inching slowly away.
On the ground, various lighter objects began to shake and rise into the air.
The bizarre, thick black cracks stretched out unrestrained, expanding far beyond anyone’s expectations. Aerial knights were suddenly engulfed by the dark spatial fissures, even being torn apart by a mere brush. The rapid growth of these spatial cracks offered no opportunity for defense; wherever they spread, everything was devoured into a void. The lethality of spatial magic ignored distinctions of power; as long as one was within striking distance, they would perish upon contact.
Both the Su Lan Empire and the Texi Empire’s aerial warriors were terrified, their souls flying away in fear. Their escape speed couldn’t even match the spreading speed of the "Absolute Spatial Prison!" It was utterly horrifying.
Roar…
Just a few meters away, a dragon from the Su Lan Empire and its knight were unexpectedly swept away by a spatial crack as slender as an arm. The massive dragon was silently severed in two, its desperate wail fading from loud to weak. The flung-knight didn’t even have time to be rescued before a second spatial crack obliterated his head, his body helplessly pulled into the void.
The Su Lan Empire’s dragon knight formation was thrown into chaos by the sudden eruption of spatial cracks.
“Fly quickly!”
“Give it your all!”
“Break through!”
More than one dragon knight poured all their battle energy into their giant dragon partners, hoping to gain even a slight increase in speed. The sky echoed with furious dragon roars as everyone’s eyes turned crimson, desperately urging their battle energy. This was far more perilous than the earlier chaos; rather than being shred to pieces by the spatial cracks, they’d rather perish alongside the Texi Empire’s aerial knights.
Meanwhile, the Texi Empire’s aerial force faced even greater hardship. With weak individual combat strength, they lacked the speed and endurance of the giant dragons, and within moments, they lost more than half their numbers to the spatial cracks, nearly facing total annihilation.
In the ground command center, the Texi Empire’s highest commander nearly tore out his own beard. Once the great forbidden spell was unleashed, chaos reigned. Even with a group of spatial mages, they couldn’t control its force, or else the battlefield would have long turned into a one-sided massacre.
The soldiers amidst the chaos were horrified to realize their bodies suddenly felt weightless. Initially thrilled by their ability to leap far and infiltrate the enemy, they soon discovered that once they left the ground, they couldn’t return. They flailed helplessly, rising towards the sky, and upon seeing the deep “Absolute Spatial Prison!” descending upon them like a monstrous black hedgehog, they all shrieked in despair.
“Stop the mage corps immediately!” The Texi Empire’s highest commander ordered as he witnessed a significant number of his soldiers caught in the grip of the forbidden spell’s power.
“It can’t be stopped! The forbidden spell is completely out of control! We’re finished; we are doomed!” The battle mage, Master Magnus, rushed before the Texi commander, his face pale and voice trembling.
The leader of the Su Lan Empire’s mages mirrored that despair; the key to a forbidden spell lies not in its release strength, but in its control. A forbidden spell without control meant mutual destruction; how could it still be deemed a forbidden spell?
Looking toward the formation of spatial mages, those valuable spatial mages hovered in the air, their earlier calm vanished. Their faces turned ghostly, eyes rolling back, bodies twitching, as if suspended like chickens with their necks caught, being relentlessly drained of magic by the uncontrollable forbidden spell. Some mages couldn’t withstand the extraction and rapidly aged, wrinkles, age spots, and white hair appearing as they withered into dust.
“Absolute Spatial Prison!” True to its name as a great forbidden spell, within just a few dozen breaths from its eruption to its expansion, it had already engulfed nearly half the battlefield, countless soldiers swallowed and disappearing into a sea of despair.
The dragon knights of the Su Lan Empire found themselves in desperation and chaos. They dodged left and right, desperately avoiding the spatial cracks around them, striving to flee beyond the range of “Absolute Spatial Prison!”
“Morin! Morin!” Morin heard someone calling his name. Turning toward the sound, his face changed drastically. The fire giant dragon Misael and Akka were exhausted, bearing serious injuries, and now burdened by Glan, were slowly being pulled toward a black spatial crack.
Though Glan was clutched in the fire giant dragon’s claws, his mount, the two-legged dragon, was not foolish. It flapped its wings vigorously, attempting to lighten the load for Misael. This was also the reason Akka refused to abandon his two-legged dragon. Glan, once proud, now looked pale and lifeless, unable to muster the strength to utter any sounds in the face of the looming spatial crack.
“Akka! Hold on! Throw that damned Glan away! He’ll drag you down!” Morin shouted at Akka, knowing he could never leave his best friend behind while escaping.
Morin felt an unprecedented urge to kill towards Glan. If it weren’t for this scumbag’s reckless pursuit of credit, dragging others down with him, Akka and Misael wouldn’t have found themselves in such peril.
“No, don’t give up on me! Akka, please! Don’t abandon me! I can offer you so much money, and beautiful women! I can persuade my father to promote you to a duke or earl, just say the word, a territory and castle would not be a problem! I can provide your family with ample benefits! You know my father is one of the four great ministers of the empire, he can surely make it happen. Please don’t give up on me, Akka!”
Hearing Morin’s words, Glan’s previous arrogance disappeared completely; terrified, he placed all his hope for survival in Akka and the fire giant dragon. He understood that, on his own, the little claws and wings of his two-legged dragon were a death sentence in this chaotic forbidden spell environment.
Glan even cast aside his former pride, pleading desperately with a voice close to tears, abasing himself like a lowly dog begging for a chance to survive. Money and beauty meant nothing to Akka, but titles and benefits for his family’s future mattered. A bitter smile surfaced on Akka’s face as he realized how much he was tempted by this scoundrel’s offerings. He couldn’t ignore the potential benefits for both himself and his family; it seemed he had to take a leap of faith.
With newfound resolve, Akka gritted his teeth and shouted to his dragon, “Misael, give it your all! No matter what it takes, we must break free today! I will repay you!” As he released his battle energy at full capacity, he poured it into the fire giant dragon’s body, maximizing the advantage of their shared element.
Fire giant dragon Misael let out a long roar, its flames intensifying under its wings as it fired powerful fireballs, creating thundering explosions. For the sake of its fellow dragon rider, it chose to trust wholeheartedly and support Akka without reservation.
“Gold Coin! Go save Akka and Misael!” Morin shouted as he patted the gold giant dragon’s armored back, realizing Misael’s speed still couldn’t escape the pull of the spatial cracks.
“Have you lost your mind?! That’s a great forbidden spell! I can’t guarantee my own escape, and you want me to go and do this?” Gold Coin roared back at Morin.
“Misael, use all your strength! You stubborn dragon, push harder! You must break through! I promise you a hefty reward,” Glan yelled crazily, reaching a desperate state of seeing a lifeline.
But even as Misael fought against it, it continued to roar in frustration. It had given its all, its flames burning fiercely, yet still couldn’t break free from the strong gravitational force of the spatial crack, its enormous eyes filled with despair, emitting powerful roars of anger.
“Morin, if you make it out, take good care of my sister Luna, and my Onisha. Tell her to find someone better than me to marry. I wish them happiness! I will always love her and Luna!” Akka, on Misael’s back, removed his helmet, tears brimming in his eyes as he shouted at Morin not far away.
Misael had done its utmost, but still found it impossible to escape the draw of the forbidden spell’s spatial cracks.
“Help! Who will save me! Akka, you scoundrel! I will make your entire family pay for this!” Glan screamed, lost in madness, revealing his ungrateful nature again, cursing Akka and Misael relentlessly, completely disregarding how they had risked everything to save him.
“Save them! Now!” Morin demanded with unprecedented determination, staring down the gold giant dragon with unyielding intensity.
“Absolutely not!” Gold Coin bellowed, appalled that his knight companion had the audacity to command him in such a tone, recklessly risking a dragon’s life on such an impossibly stupid escapade.
