Chapter 30: The Revived Metal Giant Dragon

Lin Mo couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine. He turned his head and saw the dragon flute quietly resting on the TV cabinet nearby, almost like a piece of art. If it had been back in his previous world, he could have burned battle energy to reclaim the dragon flute and no longer feared the Gold Coin. But now, he was only slightly stronger than an ordinary person and could do nothing against the Gold Coin that had transformed into a metal beast. Its sheer weight rendered him immobile.

"Hey! The dragon flute?!" The Gold Coin followed Lin Mo’s gaze to the flute just out of his reach, sneering smugly, "Morin, do you have any idea how long I’ve waited for this moment?" The Gold Coin then looked down at its own body, no longer the massive dragon it used to be, but a strange beast whose form was unrecognizable. It glared at Morin, its voice filled with fury, "Look at what I have become because of you! Damn it, Morin, for a tiny human like you, I nearly lost my life! I am a proud dragon kin, a glorious gold giant dragon. You have reduced me to this state, and I want your life!"

Lin Mo seemed to accept his fate and relaxed his body, forcing a sorrowful smile, "You’re right, Gold Coin. I have said it before, my life is yours, so take it back!"

"Morin, if you kill me, I’ll be free! Hahaha! This is so exciting!" The Gold Coin howled as it tightened its four claws, causing Lin Mo to let out a pained groan, clearly injured.

The beast’s fierce head turned back to Lin Mo, its cruel eyes filled with malice and brutality. The inherent ferocity of the gold giant dragon was fully exposed. Lin Mo closed his eyes slightly, bracing himself for his dragon mount to tear him apart, just like those historical gold dragon knights who once defied fate, only to be consumed by their own dragons. Although the gold giant dragon was incredibly powerful, one of the strongest mounts, it felt like a curse. Lin Mo could hardly escape this predestined fate.

Hiss! Compared to its previous dragon form, the Gold Coin, now unrecognizable, had barely time to rejoice when suddenly, its entire body stiffened, as if its soul were under great constraint, and it began to tremble uncontrollably.

"No, no, no! Stop!" The Gold Coin couldn’t control its form, shaking its head and screeching sharply, shaking violently as it began to decompose and shrink, ultimately reducing itself to a egg-sized metal coin.

"Morin, wait for me; I will return! I want more magic silver!…"

The Gold Coin’s final cries echoed within the room as it transformed into a metal coin, resting on Lin Mo’s chest. Lin Mo widened his eyes, a look of survival etched across his face.

Knock! Knock! Knock! There came a loud knocking on the door to Lin Mo’s room.

"Lin Mo! Lin Mo! Are you okay?!" Chen Haiqing, assigned to the adjacent room, seemed to have heard the commotion.

“Nothing! I’m fine! Just watching TV! I’ll wash up and go to bed soon!” Lin Mo hurriedly replied, knowing that the noises from his room were loud enough to be heard throughout the building.

"Oh! What are you watching? You should share it with the rest of us sometime. The TV’s volume is so high, I thought there was a monster in your room!" Chen Haiqing called from outside, causing Lin Mo to break out in a cold sweat. This guy was too sharp; he nearly guessed what had almost cost Lin Mo his life.

“Sure! My remote seems a bit off, I’ll fix it right away!” Lin Mo responded loudly.

“Wow, I didn’t expect the TV at the base to have such good sound! Truly military grade!” Chen Haiqing muttered as he returned to his room. He had been taken aback by the noises from the adjacent room, initially thinking Lin Mo was in danger.

Lin Mo let out a deep sigh of relief, utterly exhausted, collapsing on the ground, unable to move. He certainly didn’t want anyone to discover his secret, as it would bring immense trouble. After a while, he mustered enough strength to get up and bandage his wounds. Thankfully, he had only sustained some superficial injuries and bruises. Though his battle energy was weak, it had at least prevented him from becoming too embarrassed.

Ah… Lin Mo suddenly sat upright in bed, breathing heavily. His blurred eyes scanned the room, realizing he had just experienced a nightmare in which the Gold Coin, transformed into a skeletal metal beast, ripped him to shreds, consuming him piece by piece in blood and bone. In the end, it wreaked havoc in this world, unleashing turmoil before being destroyed by the advanced forces, forces capable of devastating entire cities, akin to a super great forbidden spell, shrouding the sky in blood and fire, leaving no escape.

Morning light streamed through the curtains, illuminating the bed. In the distance, the roar of aircraft grew louder, typical of an air force base, where the sounds of fighter jets taking off and landing echoed throughout the day.

Another new day began.

Lin Mo glanced at the metal coin left on the dresser in the corner and the dragon flute beside it, still feeling uneasy, his heart racing. He hadn’t expected the Gold Coin to evade the grasp of the Absolute Spatial Prison Forbidden Spell in this form, magically arriving with him in this new world through the chaotic spatial currents. Yesterday’s sudden awakening was closely tied to the large amount of metal he had fed it, especially that titanium chain—referred to as magic silver in this world. This creature had insisted on more magic silver before transforming back into a metal egg.

“Gold Coin, I will tame you and make you my true mount!” Lin Mo clenched his fists tightly, refusing to dispose of this dangerous metal egg filled with hatred lightly. Given the extensive metal refining technology in this world, metal products were everywhere. If left unchecked, this metal egg, having once been a gold giant dragon, would inevitably regain its form and come back to haunt him. Besides, keeping such a threat close would serve as a constant reminder for himself.

A faint, almost imperceptible trickle of battle energy flowed through his veins as Lin Mo steadied his breath. Choosing to join the military after coming to this world remained a sound decision; no matter the realm, the essence of the military would never change. Rigorous military life continuously honed him, ensuring that even in peaceful and comfortable times, he wouldn’t lose his edge. From beginning to end, he viewed himself as a warrior who valued honor above life, not as a complacent commoner.

Danger and opportunity coexisted, and Lin Mo was not afraid of this berserk dragon. The Gold Coin likely had no idea that in this new world, there was a saying: "When the dragon wanders on shallow ground, it becomes a plaything for shrimp; when the tiger falls to flat lands, it is bullied by dogs." The Gold Coin had no realization that it was no longer in its original world but had arrived in a new one, where Lin Mo could be considered a local.

Having had this experience, Lin Mo planned to awaken the Gold Coin again whenever he had the chance, determined to tame this disobedient creature. A confident smile appeared on his face as the proud Dragon Knight; he wouldn’t back down but march forward.

Though he had been upgraded to a formal pilot, Lin Mo continued to train alongside those still seeking qualification. Passing the assessment meant he was merely preparing for his own combat eagle. Compared to the other students, Lin Mo, Chen Haiqing, and the other new pilots from their flight school, such as Deng Zhan, Yang Luo, and Wang Jihan, who had passed the assessment, only had their official ranks and independent takeoff and landing qualifications. They still needed to continue flying the L-15 Falcon for training, focusing more on team and attack flying, while those remaining in the student phase continued foundational operational training.

At the airfield, the runway was divided into two groups. The five new pilots had a model airplane each, practicing flight formations while listening to the instructors share their flying experiences, combining theory and practice. The instructors would occasionally pose questions for them to answer.

Their instructor was Major Wei Chi Song, a slender man with a wealth of flying experience amounting to two thousand flight hours. He was exceptionally skilled, responsible for training newcomers, and had undertaken numerous special missions with combat experience.

In peacetime, air force pilots with practical combat experience were quite rare. Typically, very few special military operations ever involved fighter jets, as these were usually classified missions. When China deployed fighter jets, it meant they were no longer planning to negotiate but were ready to use military force directly.

Out of the corner of his eye, Lin Mo caught a glimpse of Lei Dong, his former roommate from the flight school, still in the student phase, casting envious glances his way. This guy had failed his last assessment and was still sharing a cramped dorm room with the others.

Of course, this guy had caused plenty of trouble, so he still had a lot to learn. Neither students nor instructors had reached a level that would allow them to relax! Lin Mo couldn’t help but smile slightly.
