Chapter 240: Night Attack on the Dragon Knight (Part 2)
Lin Mo didn’t realize that his words, “back to the sky,” were completely misunderstood by Sally.
For Lin Mo, flying a fighter jet was indeed a way to return to the sky, which wasn’t surprising. But for an Afghan woman who lacked education and skills, her responsibilities were limited to herding sheep and doing household chores, with a bit of gunplay mixed in.
Could she really join him in formation flying? In fact, whenever Lin Mo flew a two-seater, the backseat always earned the label of misfortune, not even a trained pilot was exempt.
However, oblivious to Lin Mo’s identity as a pilot, Sally immediately infused his true nature with a religious tone.
A shield in one hand, and a sword in the other, he ignored the hail of bullets and cleaved through enemies, causing rivers of blood to flow. He was indeed no ordinary person.
The heroic, unbeatable figures in the epics she chanted were exactly like Lin Mo.
It was no wonder Sally was caught up in her thoughts. However, Lin Mo was unaware of her feelings and didn’t bother to explain further.
“Hmm, I need to return quickly. I can’t stay here too long.”
Lin Mo understood the feelings of the Pashtun girl, but just leaving after the meal wasn’t his style. Returning with a family wasn’t feasible; “Night” wasn’t a place for settling families, especially with no emotional connection.
Using an Afghan girl as a fling felt improper.
Their differing values and worldviews meant they were from the same "world," yet they were not truly of the same "world."
It was hard to continue this conversation.
Lin Mo’s reaction struck a heavy blow to the lovesick girl; in the end, it was just his own wishful thinking.
Sally fell into sadness, wrapping her exquisite naked form in a blanket. Silently, she stood up and exited the tent.
Lin Mo shook his head, pushing the chaotic thoughts from his mind.
When a round of bombs dropped from a fighter jet, who knew how many lonely women and mothers were avenged.
If every time he saved a damsel in distress meant he had to give himself away, he would truly have to build a harem.
“Ah…”
It seemed he heard a barely restrained cry nearby.
Lin Mo jumped up from the blanket bed.
“What’s going on?” he asked the watch on his left wrist, shaped like a gold giant dragon.
“How would I know? It seems a few guns are aimed at you; I can’t tell if it’s intentional or just careless.”
The gold giant dragon replied lazily, clearly upset that Lin Mo had not fed it well recently, so its performance was lacking.
“Damn it, why didn’t you warn me? What are you doing, you foolish dragon?”
“How would I know? Almost everyone here has a gun, some may even have more than one. There are guns all around you, and if a couple of them occasionally point at you, how should I know if it’s malicious or accidental? If I reported every time you were in danger, you wouldn’t get any sleep at all.”
The gold coin expressed its frustration. It was true that it was sensitive to metallic weapons, but it couldn’t react specifically to humans. With the rampant gun ownership in the Pashtun tribes, it was similar to how aluminum foil interfered with radar—too many firearms nearby completely overwhelmed the gold giant dragon’s ability to sense them, making it impossible to determine which were aimed at Lin Mo.
“Humph, let’s get past this first. I’ll make sure to feed you well afterward,” Lin Mo responded coldly. He understood that this uncooperative dragon was only in a survival partnership with him; if he didn’t feed it well, he couldn’t expect it to be of much help.
The dragon’s agreement was merely to protect his life, and it had never promised to help him deal with troubles.
Activating the Light Mirror Technique!
Lin Mo quickly donned his gear and gently pushed aside the curtain.
Five steps away, he saw Sally half-wrapped in a thin blanket, being half-dragged and half-held by a man.
In no time at all, the Pashtun girl was bound up like a rice dumpling, with a torn towel tied around her mouth and a knot at the back of her head. Her hair was disheveled, and her face showed panic and fear, while a black phone pressed against her head.
"Long time no see, Chu Zhongtian!"
The man controlling Sally showed no concern for the enticing form in his arms, pulling her closer and revealing a glimmering white smile, illuminated by the campfire and the cold moonlight for Lin Mo to see.
His face was covered in scars, suggesting he had endured great trauma. The flesh was torn, exposing tangled muscles and blood vessels, looking quite terrifying. However, from the shape of his face and voice, Lin Mo quickly recognized who he was.
“Ma Jun!”
Lin Mo was taken aback, clearly surprised to see someone who shouldn’t be here.
Goodness, this “Red Scorpion” remnant hadn’t died after all. Whether this “Red Scorpion” intelligence leader had been at the airport back then was unclear, but it was evident from his complexion that he, too, had managed to survive a deadly encounter.
"Hehe! I’m back from hell!" Ma Jun’s half-terrifying face broke into a sinister grin, releasing a chilling laugh.
While in the tent, he had used the Light Mirror Technique to scout the area, discovering at least a dozen armed personnel nearby, including a sniper aiming at him.
He was almost completely surrounded, creating a trap-like situation. The nearby Pashtuns had fallen to the ground, sleeping soundly, presumably drugged and unharmed.
“Let her go. If you have guts, come at me instead.” Lin Mo pointed his long sword at the ground, twisting it slightly, showing no fear of the guns aimed at him.
Ma Jun pressed the gun’s muzzle against Sally’s head, twisting it gently as he let out a strange laugh. “What’s this? Protecting her now, are we, flower protector? You can try it; let’s see if your sword is faster than my gun. Either way, all I have to do is pull the trigger, heh, you know what that means.”
Ma Jun lowered his head but kept his gaze fixed on Lin Mo, inhaling the fragrance of the Pashtun girl in his arms with feigned delight. “It seems like, Brother Chu, you have quite the charm; such a beauty willingly throws herself at you.”
“Too bad. If you want her to live, then put down your weapons and armor.” Ma Jun’s tone suddenly turned cold as several armed personnel in black masks approached, their MP5 submachine guns ready to unleash deadly fire.
The outstanding reliability, controllability, and precision of the MP5 made it a lethal tool for close combat.
They had clearly come prepared, which made Lin Mo very uneasy. Facing him was the craftiest intelligence leader of the “Red Scorpion” organization, and had he not inadvertently exposed the man’s identity, the vast intelligence network in the country would likely still be unaware of him.
It was easy to dodge a bullet, but elusive arrows were hard to foresee. Compared to those foolish bandits, this guy was much tougher to deal with.
“I know you’re powerful, taking down many with just a sword. Those frightened souls gave you the nickname ‘Silver Devil.’ It’s a fitting name, I must admit; I’m scared of you too, so I have to keep my guard up. I just hope we can find a suitable way to communicate, don’t you think?” Ma Jun grinned, openly acknowledging his fear of Lin Mo, but showing no signs of weakness, delivering a perfectly timed threat.
“Don’t hurt her; otherwise, I’ll kill you all, even if you flee to the ends of the earth.” Lin Mo warned Ma Jun coldly, while loosening his grip, showing his willingness to continue. The long sword, made from the materials of a J-10, fell from his body.
He made no hesitant moves; the threat of a Dragon Knight was not mere words.
“Mmm!” Sally struggled, shaking her head vigorously. The cloth covering her mouth prevented her from speaking, and her bonds kept her immobile. Tears filled her eyes, showing her unwillingness for Lin Mo to give up his weapons for her sake.
The clanking of armor echoed as the armed personnel removed his full set of armor piece by piece, along with the shield and sword, tossing them far away.
“Hahaha! Truly, you are both a lover of beauty and a man of integrity; I really admire you.” Ma Jun waved his hand, and seven or eight armed personnel in black surrounded Lin Mo, their gun barrels aimed steadily at him.
Without support, Sally lost her balance and tumbled away, rolling a few times until she ended up in a position where she could no longer see Lin Mo.
She heard Ma Jun say, “I won’t do anything to your little woman; she’s not my target. For safety’s sake, you might want to wear these first. Oh, and let me remind you, you need to move slowly. If you hurry, my guys might get scared and accidentally fire; ‘Silver Devil,’ heh heh!”
Ma Jun’s laughter sounded like an owl’s screech in the night, grating on the ears.
The sound of clinking metal and heavy thuds reached Sally’s ears, and her eyes widened in alarm. By the sound, it had to be shackles. If the “Knight” were to wear those, that would truly be disastrous.
Even a hero could not escape sturdy shackles.
“I hope you keep your word.”
Lin Mo glanced at the metallic shackles dropped at his feet, complete with both leg and handcuffs, linked together by a thick steel chain.
He gradually bent down, picking them up, and complied as he shackled his own hands and feet. With a few clicks, his wrists and ankles were securely bound.
“Good. Since Brother Chu is such a straightforward man, I’ll speak frankly. Your worth has skyrocketed; guess how much you’re worth?”
Seeing Lin Mo cuff himself, Ma Jun finally let out a heavy sigh of relief, lowering his gun. Only those who viewed him through a telescope could truly grasp this guy’s formidable nature; he was like a deadly star descended to earth.
