Chapter 149: Battle Energy Constricting Formation
Lin Mo felt a chill in his heart. He had run into tough opponents. The equipment of the other side resembled that of the Night Special Forces, or even better, an elite special operations unit. Though there were only eight of them, they posed a daunting challenge for Lin Mo.
They actually had individual exoskeleton mechs. Lin Mo had only seen this in the internal documents of Night, still under research and development, not yet finalized, and never equipped. Coupled with the earlier Apache armed helicopters, the identity of his opponents became clear. Lin Mo realized this was definitely not a unit from a tiny country like the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They must have invaded a highly classified military base, recklessly attempting to eliminate him. Only a silent corpse could keep secrets.
What should he do? It would be easier at night, but during the day it was troublesome. The unmanned reconnaissance drone above would surely spot him; there were no dense forests to help him hide.
The drone had yet to attack. Lin Mo only spared a fraction of his attention for it, focusing the rest on the eight heavily armored soldiers encircling him in a wide arc.
The eight soldiers moved in alternating patterns, shouldering their rifles, keeping them pointed forward, constantly switching positions to cover each other. Even though there were trees and hills providing some concealment, they were clearly heading straight for Lin Mo, having likely already located him.
Suddenly, Lin Mo dodged to the side as a bullet whizzed past him with a gunshot. He quickly moved again, narrowly avoiding another bullet that struck the ground behind him, sending dirt flying.
Snipers! There are two of them!
If Lin Mo hadn’t reacted quickly and evaded in time, those shots would have hit him. This was merely their testing shot. A 12.7 mm steel core sniper round hitting him would be something only the gold giant dragon would relish, but Lin Mo certainly wouldn’t accept such a "gift."
Lin Mo moved like the wind, dodging left and right, constantly changing positions. He momentarily activated the Light Mirror Technique, confirming the positions of the snipers.
Their aim, timing, and formation were nothing short of perfect. These weren’t novices; the threat from each shot fired by the snipers severely limited Lin Mo’s mobility.
Raising his AK-47, he fired three rounds. The soldiers didn’t even bother to dodge, standing firm and taking three 7.62 mm bullets directly to their chests, continuing to fire back at Lin Mo as if nothing had happened.
Lin Mo could clearly see that when the bullets hit their armor, it only caused a slight indentation before the bullets rebounded. This amazed him; their defense was astonishing and completely unexpected.
There must be a significant secret nearby. As the veterans in Night had said before, the technology and weapons possessed by national-level special forces far exceeded what ordinary citizens could imagine.
While the general public might have learned about such sci-fi products, the military had likely already discarded them in favor of more advanced technology, allowing for the release of information. On a technological level, civilian advancements were always two generations behind the military. Just like the soldiers wearing individual exoskeleton mechs before him, the rumors in the outside world about abandoning or still developing them were false—they had already begun formal deployment, and possibly even versions far beyond what the general public knew.
Lin Mo discarded his AK-47. Its recoil was severe, and its accuracy was lacking. He grabbed an RPG, loading the last rocket in search of a firing opportunity. Suddenly, a chill crept up the back of his neck; a warning flashed. He pushed off the ground powerfully, retreating over a hundred meters in the blink of an eye as his Battle Energy surged to its peak, forming a protective energy shield around him.
Boom!
A massive fireball erupted from the spot he had just vacated, the shockwave sending violent waves of air rushing outward. Amidst the flying dust, Lin Mo could vaguely see a translucent energy dome shaking where he stood.
The AGM-114 Hellfire missile targeting infantry was clearly underestimating Lin Mo. This was a classic example of a brutal, unreasonable tactic of overwhelming firepower for efficiency.
The true combat style of an ace fighter jet pilot involves seamlessly switching between offense and defense. Without waiting for the dust to settle, Lin Mo took the initiative.
Continuing to hide wouldn’t work anymore. Lin Mo ignored the powerful shockwave from the missile and, with his Battle Energy shielding him, quickly aimed at one of the soldiers, firing off the last RPG rocket.
As the RPG soared towards the soldier’s head, he suddenly raised a small shield on his wrist to block the rocket. The explosion sent him flying ten meters away, tumbling on the ground.
As soon as the rocket cleared, Lin Mo hurled the launcher at another soldier, sprinting into their midst with lightning speed. He delivered a powerful punch that sent one soldier flying while the thrown launcher knocked another back several steps.
He couldn’t afford to underestimate the exoskeleton armor these opponents wore, holding nothing back as he unleashed punches ignited with lightly burning flames. Each blow had explosive force that surpassed the warhead of the RPG rocket, shattering all expectations of Lin Mo being unarmed.
The strong always prevail!
The stronger become even stronger!!
The power of Lin Mo’s Battle Energy even surpassed the defensive capabilities of the Future Warrior exoskeleton. Despite the armor holding firm under physical blows, overwhelming force could severely deform it, sending shockwaves that turned the internal organs of the wearer into mush.
It’s likely that the designers of the Future Warrior never imagined their battle armor would face such fearsome damage from pure physical might.
The soldier who was blown away by the RPG struggled to sit up on the ground, his bulletproof wrist shield severely damaged but intact, the surface charred yet unbroken.
Lin Mo was amazed at the soldier’s formidable defense. Without mercy, he delivered direct hits to his vital points. If the RPG couldn’t hurt him, then he would make the soldier feel the full force of a Dragon Knight’s fist.
Fragments of high-tech devices flew in all directions; even cutting-edge products couldn’t withstand Lin Mo’s unreasonable, overwhelming assault.
In the air, only Lin Mo’s afterimage remained as the soldiers panicked, losing their composure. Their frantic screams filled the air as they tried to catch a glimpse of Lin Mo, only to be a step behind. The XM29 assault rifles fired bullets into empty space, achieving nothing.
A figure appeared beside a fallen Future Warrior soldier, snatching the assault rifle and aiming it. Just as Lin Mo was about to pull the trigger, he realized the gun was locked out due to its owner’s death, rendering it useless.
FUCK! Lin Mo couldn’t help but mutter an American curse. He grabbed the corpse to use as a shield against the nearby soldiers’ gunfire and hurled it at them. His aim was always precise, knocking another soldier off his feet.
Like lightning, Lin Mo moved so quickly that the soldiers couldn’t track him with their eyes. He forcibly controlled one soldier, pressing down on his assault rifle while aiming it at his own team.
Before the XM29 could issue a lock command, rounds of 20 mm high-explosive ammo poured out, each shot hitting the head directly. Even the Future Warrior exoskeleton proved powerless against such precise, vital attacks. They staggered under the blows, their helmets suffering severe damage, yet shockingly, they didn’t break their necks from the impact. The protection offered was indeed formidable, but the electronic devices on the helmets were at least half destroyed, as many couldn’t withstand heavy firepower.
Taking advantage of their moment of weakness, Lin Mo sent punches flying, knocking soldier after soldier as if they were under a mass stun effect. He wouldn’t waste a second punch because the ordinary human body simply couldn’t endure a Dragon Knight’s heavy strike, especially one utilizing the “Penetrating Force” technique. Even a giant dragon would think twice about facing such power.
As the two snipers continued searching for Lin Mo, they suddenly realized someone new was among them. Two muffled thuds echoed through the air, and the world fell quiet.
Lin Mo was surrounded by a sea of bodies. The Dragon Knight was a high-end aerial force, but it didn’t mean he was weak on land. Even though the elite soldiers wore Future Warrior exoskeletons, they couldn’t compare to the Dragon Knight in terms of strength, speed, and reflexes.
Suddenly, Lin Mo’s wristwatch melted into the XM29 assault rifle, and in just a few seconds, he heard the sound of Gold Coins being collected. “Unlock complete, now available for use.”
“Thank you!” It was just what he needed. Lin Mo felt grateful to the gold giant dragon as he raised the assault rifle, firing continuously at the unmanned drone in the sky while sending 20 mm high-explosive rounds into the air.
The drone hovered at three thousand meters high, and the 5.56 mm rounds were ineffective, not to mention the 20 mm high-explosive shells. But would Lin Mo do something useless? No, of course not.
The MQ-9 Reaper drone transmitted combat footage back to base. The personnel watching couldn’t believe that their small team had just been obliterated. In the terrified eyes of the drone operator, Lin Mo looked no different from a ferocious beast, and he promptly initiated an attack, launching all remaining air-to-ground missiles at the ground.
The missiles released collided with the barrage of bullets shot at it, triggering massive explosions at an altitude of 500 meters.
For Lin Mo, the shockwaves from such explosions posed no threat at all.
As the fireballs cleared away, the MQ-9 Reaper drone was horrified to find that all the missiles it had fired missed their target, not a single one landing on the ground.
