Chapter 147: AH-64D Apache Longbow

“Grenade!”

Lin Mo shouted, hoping the others could understand English.

His plan worked; the enemy hesitated, momentarily stunned. That brief instant was enough for Lin Mo.

In a swift slide, he dashed to the side of the black soldier, who had been pierced in the head by his parachute knife, slowly falling over. Lin Mo snatched the AK-47 and unleashed a sweeping volley.

The fierce 7.62 caliber bullets caught the remaining soldiers off guard. They shuddered violently with the impact and stumbled backward, crashing to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, the fight from start to finish lasted only two or three minutes. Eleven black soldiers went from having the advantage to complete annihilation. Without a scratch on him, Lin Mo secured victory, holding the warm AK-47 barrel and letting out a long sigh of relief.

It wasn’t easy. Several times, Lin Mo had to resist the urge to summon Gold Coin for assistance. He knew he couldn’t rely on the special combat techniques from another world every time. To truly integrate into this world, he had to use the same tactics that most people could employ. The more he showcased his powers, the greater the chances of being exposed. Having finally secured a powerful nation to belong to, Lin Mo didn’t want to lose it. Without the support of a nation, he would be just slightly better off than an average person. Given his past life, where he struggled to survive in heaps of garbage, he certainly didn’t want to return to that miserable existence.

After resting for a moment, Lin Mo chose the best-condition AK-47 and gathered all the bullets. He fed the remaining weapons to the gold giant dragon; the cooperation between one man and one dragon was extremely efficient.

He searched the bodies of the black soldiers, but aside from some cigarettes, dried rations, and Congolese francs, there was no other identification.

With his survival pack on his back, Lin Mo approached a jeep. He heard the vehicle’s walkie-talkie continuously calling out in a language he couldn’t understand. Lin Mo simply raised his gun and shot the walkie-talkie, then flicked his wrist toward another jeep. The wristwatch-shaped Gold Coin slipped from his grasp, launching towards the jeep. In an instant, only non-metallic materials like tires and plastic remained, as the gold giant dragon reduced everything else to fragments.

What an unexpectedly tumultuous journey! Lin Mo didn’t expect a combat drill would lead to so many surprises. Was he catching bad luck lately? He pressed down hard on the gas pedal, eager to leave this troublesome place. In the distance, he saw a continuous mountain range; perhaps crossing over it would lead him back to Zambia.

While driving, Lin Mo suddenly perked up, gazing at the sky. A slender white figure zoomed past—an unmanned reconnaissance drone. As a pilot, Lin Mo instantly recognized what it was. Damn, it was watching him! He was just passing through; did it have to make such a commotion?

Little did Lin Mo know that his recent extermination of a dozen experienced black soldiers had already drawn attention. Not everyone could casually kill so many soldiers and come out unscathed.

“Deploy the AH-64D armed helicopter! Erase the target directly, as per the old rules.”

In a hidden chamber deep within a mysterious complex in the mountains of the Mibatong range at the edge of the Congo Basin, orders were given. A massive 50-inch screen displayed Lin Mo on the jeep, even identifying the colors of the Zambian flag on his pressure suit.

To them, the intruder was merely a one-man operation. No matter how strong an individual’s combat ability, they couldn’t contend with an armed helicopter—a professional combat weapon. They intended to eliminate him using overwhelming force, as they usually did.

With the confiscated jeep, Lin Mo’s journey became much simpler, but after being attacked by unfamiliar soldiers, he heightened his vigilance, occasionally using the Light Mirror Technique for reconnaissance.

“Damn it!” Lin Mo grabbed the jeep’s wheel and spun it sharply to the east toward a patch of forest. Moments ago, he’d spotted two AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopters heading in his direction with his Light Mirror Technique.

Who were they? What organization was behind this? Lin Mo was greatly shocked; he couldn’t believe that such a poor country as the Democratic Republic of the Congo could afford these weapons. The appearance of F-22s and now armed helicopters was ridiculous.

He even suspected that this so-called animal conservation area was actually a mysterious military buffer zone; having inadvertently stepped in, he was now being hunted. That reasoning might better explain his situation.

A dragon doesn’t show strength only to be treated like a lizard!

When someone wanted his life, Lin Mo wouldn’t hold back. He glanced at the back seat of the jeep, where an RPG rocket launcher and four rockets were stored, and knew that should be enough. The eastern forest was dense, providing the perfect terrain for his plans.

As he drove, he carefully secured the RPG rocket onto the co-pilot’s seat.

The two AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopters approached rapidly. Just as the jeep entered the trees, a barrage of cannon fire chased after it.

Boom, boom, boom, boom!

The powerful sound of the 30mm anti-tank cannon rang out, and the bullets ricocheted angrily.

The AH-64D Longbow’s chain gun had 1200 rounds of ammunition, sustaining firepower for up to two minutes. Dark red lines of bullets struck the jeep closely behind, threatening to send it flipping if even one round connected.

Lin Mo pressed down hard on the gas, his eyes focused ahead as he quickly maneuvered the vehicle in a serpentine pattern, diving into the forest just in time. He jumped from the jeep, clutching his gear and weapons as he plunged deeper into the woods.

The two AH-64D Apache helicopters swiftly flew over the treetops, circling the smoke-emitting jeep that had crashed into a tree, searching for Lin Mo’s position. The 30mm rounds shredded the jeep into bits.

Perhaps equipped with infrared detection devices, the dense forest couldn’t fully conceal Lin Mo. A hail of cannon fire pursued him as he sprinted through the woods, sending bark and leaves flying.

Unabashedly, Lin Mo fired back with an RPG rocket launcher.

The fiery rocket struck one of the AH-64D Longbows directly, causing its missile racks to explode in a chain reaction. A series of violent explosions occurred, dropping several missiles into the forest, which also erupted with fierce blasts. The damaged Apache swayed as it flew off in another direction, but its sturdy armor prevented an immediate airborne explosion; however, it billowed blue smoke and fire, still managing to maintain some balance.

Meanwhile, the other intact AH-64D Longbow helicopter retaliated fiercely, targeting the spot where the RPG had been fired from. Its air-launched swarm missiles unleashed a saturated attack, engulfing the forest in a massive sea of fire.

As if that weren’t enough, the missiles once again screamed through the canopy, creating a wide-open area in the woods amid the flying debris and rising flames.

Just when it thought it had eliminated its target, a rocket took off from the edge of the inferno, striking the helicopter right beneath the nose. The cannon was blown into a twisted wreck.

As the AH-64D Apache struggled to adjust its trajectory to escape, Lin Mo clearly wasn’t one to let a cornered enemy off easily. Another two rockets flew out from the woods, pummeling the helicopter in the same spot. Even if the Longbow had tough armor, it couldn’t withstand such concentrated explosives. While the airframe might hold, the continuous shockwaves from the explosions could very well incapacitate the pilot inside.

The second AH-64D Longbow helicopter tilted and crashed into the woods, producing a terrifying noise upon impact, with broken rotor blades flying everywhere, followed by an earth-shaking explosion that sent thick smoke billowing into the air.

Lin Mo raised a massive metal shield in his hand, effortlessly absorbing the flying metal shards from the explosions.

The AH-64D Longbow, previously hit by Lin Mo’s rocket, barely managed to stabilize. But it was horrified to see its companion crash, causing the pilot to urgently turn away to escape.

However, escaping wasn’t so easy. A beam of intense green light, packed with high energy, hit the helicopter’s fuel tank silently, heating it to an incredible temperature in mere seconds, causing catastrophic damage.

Before the pilot could utter a word, the helicopter exploded into a fireball.

Some damaged parts fell heavily to the ground, while the remaining ammunition and fuel exploded rhythmically, triggering even more violent blasts.

Lin Mo summoned the gold giant dragon and transformed it into an enhanced laser rifle; the output power could rival an 88mm anti-aircraft shell. With the dense forest and thick smoke providing cover, this was his first time using the new high-energy weapon coalesced with the gold giant dragon in real combat.

The power turned out to be unexpectedly strong; hitting a critical area could create astonishing damage.

Lin Mo felt a surge of anger; first, a small squad of soldiers attempted to kill him without a second thought, and then two armed helicopters came looking for him. This was crossing the line for a Dragon Knight.

So what if it was the Congolese government? The dragon doesn’t show strength only to be treated like a lizard! Lin Mo’s heart surged with intense killing intent.

Lin Mo looked up at the sky and stepped into the open space left by the blasts. He raised a middle finger defiantly toward the heavens, knowing that satellites were likely monitoring him. Otherwise, how could he remain undetected by any surveillance equipment on the ground while they still found him?
