Chapter 210: The Sky Falls
In the desolate village, the mist churned.
The aura of malevolence was so thick that it almost became tangible, and the wild grass on the ground turned to black ash under the assault of dark forces.
A crimson light erupted from Zuo Yongjun’s body.
This was his protective true energy resisting the invasion of evil energy.
But the real threat wasn’t the malevolent aura saturating the surrounding space; it was a giant skeletal centipede!
Its head and claws were made entirely of white bones, and its long body was covered with naked corpses, with a pair of curved jaws that resembled sharp crescent blades, grinding against each other with an agonizing sound.
The back half of this skeletal centipede was hidden within the thick fog, making it impossible to determine how long it truly was, but the bloodthirsty mouth that peeked between its fangs could easily swallow a person whole.
Faced with such a monster, Zuo Yongjun’s expression became gravely serious.
He had been part of the Imperial Guard for many years and had encountered all kinds of Evil Spirits.
Without a doubt, this skeletal centipede was one of the most terrifying creatures Zuo Yongjun had ever encountered!
However, this did not instill fear in the innate martial artist; his battle intent boiled within him like the true energy flowing in his veins.
Within Zuo Yongjun’s body, five great bloodshed wheels—Corpse Dog, Hidden Arrow, Sparrow Shade, Thief Swallowing, and Non-Poison—were activated by his innate true energy, granting him different powers that reinforced his entire being.
He practiced the most orthodox techniques of the martial arts, and with five of the seven bloodshed wheels already formed, his strength stood unrivaled across South Shao.
Others could flee or hide, but he would never take a step back when facing Evil Spirits!
For Zuo Yongjun’s parents and wife and child had all fallen victim to such evil, and he had vowed to extinguish these horrors from the world, his resolve hardened to the utmost.
The skeletal centipede sensed Zuo Yongjun’s soaring battle intent, as well as the aura of bloodshed emanating from him.
A flicker of caution appeared in the creature’s eyes.
It suddenly shrank back, vanishing into the thick mist, disappearing from sight.
But Zuo Yongjun did not relax his guard; instead, he heightened his vigilance.
The retreat of the skeletal centipede was clearly not out of fear—it was avoiding a direct confrontation.
This creature was exceedingly cunning!
At that moment, Zuo Yongjun began to hear rustling sounds from around him.
One corpse after another encircled him from all directions, intermixed with countless white skeletons, a dense mass that was far too numerous to count!
And in the depths of the mist, the form of the skeletal centipede flickered in and out of view.
Suddenly, accompanied by a sharp shriek, the previously slow-moving corpses lunged toward Zuo Yongjun with great force.
They clawed and howled, their gray eyes gleaming with a bloodthirsty light.
Seeing this scene, Zuo Yongjun suddenly thrust his long sword into the ground.
He brought his palms together and shattered a talisman.
With a whoosh!
A pile of hundred-forged long swords appeared out of thin air, landing before Zuo Yongjun.
He opened his arms and swiftly grabbed a sword in each hand, tossing them to the left and right.
Puff! Puff!
The hilts of the two long swords, along with parts of their blades, plunged deep into the earth, leaving only the sharp edges standing upright on the ground.
This innate martial artist moved with lightning speed, hurling more than a dozen long swords in the blink of an eye.
He formed a circle of blades around himself.
As the sword formation took shape, the corpses charged forward, only to have their legs severed by the razor-sharp blades, collapsing in a heap.
The horde of corpses descended into chaos.
Some corpses clambered over their fallen comrades, advancing toward Zuo Yongjun.
And what awaited them was the gleaming edge of his sword!
Sword light flashed, sword energy surged, severed limbs and shattered bones flew in all directions, and grayish heads soared into the sky.
The sword formation surrounding Zuo Yongjun greatly slowed the onslaught of the corpses, allowing the innate martial artist to wield his twin swords with ease, cutting down his enemies as if slicing through vegetables.
Corpse after corpse fell before him, skeletons turned to dust, and Zuo Yongjun stood unyielding, like a rock amidst a raging sea of the undead.
As time silently passed, the innate martial artist grew more ferocious in battle, the aura of bloodshed radiating from him intensifying.
Yet, the number of corpses around him continued to grow, piling higher and higher.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Zuo Yongjun once again planted his twin swords in front of him, alternating his palms to deliver powerful strikes.
His formidable true energy surged forth, transforming into a fierce palm strike that sent the corpses on the ground flying out of the sword formation.
Splat!
At that very moment, a wave of venom, reeking with a pungent stench, pierced through the mist barrier like arrows, hurtling toward Zuo Yongjun.
The skeletal centipede lurking in the fog could no longer restrain itself!
But Zuo Yongjun was prepared; he joined his palms together and struck out at the incoming venom.
The palm strike collided with the venom, causing it to explode mid-air, scattering into countless droplets that rained down on the corpses and skeletons.
A thin gray smoke rose instantly, as the Evil Spirits writhed in agony, their bodies corroded and riddled with gaping holes.
The toxicity was so severe that it was shocking beyond description!
"Die!"
Zuo Yongjun bellowed, grabbing a long sword and raising it before him.
He opened his mouth and sprayed a mist of blood onto the blade.
The gleaming sword was instantly shrouded in a thick aura of bloodshed.
In the next moment, Zuo Yongjun hurled the long sword with all his might.
The sword shot through the air like a meteor, following the path of the venom, and vanished into the mist in an instant.
"Hiss—"
A piercing scream erupted as the mist churned violently, revealing the skeletal centipede’s writhing body, clearly wounded by the hurled sword.
Yet, Zuo Yongjun felt no joy; his expression shifted abruptly as he grabbed another long sword and drove it forcefully into the ground.
Splat!
A gush of foul blood sprayed from the blade, causing the ground to tremble violently.
The skeletal centipede, now thoroughly enraged, ceased commanding the corpses to drain Zuo Yongjun’s strength and abandoned its ambush tactics, revealing its true form.
Its long skeletal tail suddenly swept toward Zuo Yongjun!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The blades blocking its path and the corpses on the ground shattered under the force of the tail’s strike.
Even Zuo Yongjun, with his immense strength, dared not face it head-on; he swiftly activated his movement techniques, leaping high into the air.
Then, the skeletal centipede lunged upward, its sharp, curved jaws snapping open, aiming to seize Zuo Yongjun mid-air with unimaginable speed!
Caught in mid-air with no means of escape, Zuo Yongjun instinctively thrust his sword into the bloodthirsty mouth of the Evil Spirit.
He channeled all his power, determined to fight back, even if it meant mutual destruction.
In this life-and-death moment, the innate martial artist’s expression was unshakably resolute.
Just as both sides were about to inflict fatal blows upon each other, a blazing flame suddenly descended from the sky, piercing through the massive head of the skeletal centipede and pinning it to the ground!
