Chapter 163: Yunyang Clearing the Demons (Part 2)

After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the Yunyang flying ship arrived above a valley.

This valley was nestled amidst towering mountains, surrounded by dense forests and jagged peaks, making its location exceptionally secluded.

Within the valley lay a town, densely packed with stone houses and wooden buildings, interspersed with several tall towers.

Moreover, vast stretches of spirit fields had been cultivated at the outskirts and the deepest parts of the valley.

From their elevated position, the residents of the town and the farmers toiling in the spirit fields appeared as tiny as ants.

The sudden appearance of the flying ship was akin to a falcon swooping down upon an anthill.

Instantly, it caused considerable chaos.

A nearly transparent barrier of light slowly rose from the valley, enveloping the entire town!

Evidently, the cultivators stationed in the town had activated the defensive formations.

Simultaneously, several cultivators, wielding magical artifacts, ascended into the air.

They gazed up at the Yunyang flying ship above and bowed respectfully, inquiring, “Higher Steward, your presence graces Wuhuzhai. May we know the purpose of your visit?”

Wuhuzhai was a town inhabited by over two thousand loose cultivators.

It ranked among the largest within a radius of several hundred miles.

The town was governed by five high-level Qi Training cultivators, three of whom had attained perfect mastery.

With the aid of large-scale defensive formations, they could rival even a Purple Palace master.

Yet, in the face of the Yunyang flying ship, these high-level Qi Training cultivators trembled, their tone and demeanor filled with reverence.

“It has come to our attention that Wuhuzhai has colluded with gray-eyed thieves, harboring evil cultivators within its walls.”

A moment later, an ethereal voice emanated from the flying ship: “Will you surrender and submit to an investigation, or will you stubbornly resist and determine your own fate?”

“We are wronged!”

A middle-aged cultivator below abruptly lifted his head, his eyes blazing with indignation: “Higher Steward, I, Fei Bin, swear by the heavens that Wuhuzhai has never colluded with evil cultivators!”

“Hmph.”

A scornful laugh echoed through the air: “If that is the case, then deactivate the formations at once and allow the investigation. The Yunyang Sect does not wrong the innocent, but neither shall we spare the wicked!”

A flicker of blue crossed Fei Bin’s dark countenance.

Deactivating the formations and submitting to an investigation was tantamount to kneeling in surrender, placing their lives and deaths in the hands of others.

If Wuhuzhai were truly innocent, surely the esteemed Yunyang Sect, the foremost sect of Tianyun, would not stoop to harming innocent loose cultivators.

After all, they still valued the reputation of a righteous sect.

However, only they knew the truth of their own affairs.

Fei Bin dared not allow the Yunyang Sect to conduct a thorough search of the town!

While Wuhuzhai might not have openly colluded with gray-eyed thieves, it was undeniable that some evil cultivators were concealed within its walls.

This was originally a very normal situation.

For loose cultivators like them, survival often forced them to make all sorts of compromises.

Wuhuzhai was no exception, and neither were the other loose cultivator towns.

As the saying goes, "punish not the crowd." With so many loose cultivator Gathering Points under the Yunyang Sect’s jurisdiction, conducting thorough investigations would not only be time-consuming and labor-intensive but would also provoke widespread resentment.

In the past, the Yunyang Sect had always turned a blind eye and never seriously pursued the matter.

After all, for centuries, the Yunyang Sect had reaped substantial benefits from these loose cultivator towns and absorbed countless new recruits.

As the leader of Wuhuzhai, Fei Bin, who had achieved perfect mastery in Qi Training, never expected that this time the Yunyang Sect would take such a serious stance.

They had dispatched their flying ship to the town, determined to achieve their goal and refusing to back down!

To fight or to surrender?

Fei Bin’s expression shifted, torn by the weight of the decision.

Fighting was out of the question—they stood no chance.

But surrendering would likely mean being condemned to hard labor in the mines.

His dream of breaking through to open a house would vanish in an instant!

“Have you made your decision?”

That lofty voice rang out again, dripping with disdain and scorn.

Fei Bin clenched his fists, swallowing his pride, and bowed his head. “This Lesser Steward is willing to submit to the investigation.”

He formed a spell with his hands, and a shimmering light flickered at his fingertips.

“That’s more like it…”

In an instant, the six tall towers within the town erupted with bright flames, and beams of light shot from their peaks, striking the Yunyang flying ship in the sky!

The ship’s surface was instantly enveloped in golden light, sparks flying as it shook violently.

But that was all.

The Purple Palace master controlling the flying ship roared in fury, “You dare seek death?”

A colossal palm materialized above the valley, as if swatting a fly, and came crashing down toward the town below.

By then, Fei Bin had already retreated to the valley with his comrades, shouting hoarsely, “Fellow travelers, the Yunyang Sect is fabricating charges and acting against all reason! They aim to exterminate us loose cultivators!”

“We must fight them!”

Boom!

The giant palm slammed into the defensive formations with crushing force.

The magical barrier protecting the town shattered instantly, and the six tall towers exploded simultaneously, sending shards flying in all directions.

Not only that, but many buildings surrounding the towers also collapsed in the aftermath.

Inside the valley, screams and cries immediately echoed.

The loose cultivators living in the town felt as if doomsday had come; some fled in all directions, some knelt down pleading, and others cast spells at the Yunyang flying ship above.

Streaks of light darted out from the valley, escaping into the dense forest in all directions.

“Surrender and you will be spared!”

The Yunyang Purple Palace stationed at the flying ship shouted sternly, “Those who resist will be killed without exception!”

At the same time, two rows of cabin doors in the middle and lower sections of the flying ship opened simultaneously, and a commanding voice entered the ears of all the Sunset Peak disciples.

Another Purple Palace master issued the order to pursue.

It was the same: kill without exception!

Immediately, dozens of cultivators rushed out of the cabins at the fastest speed.

As they leaped out of the flying ship, they threw their flying artifacts.

They chased after the fleeing Wuhuzhai loose cultivators with lightning speed.

Among these loose cultivators were certainly some evil cultivators.

Since they did not obey orders, there was no need for distinction, nor was there a need to show mercy.

The inner sect disciples participating in the hunt would be rewarded based on the heads they gained, with double rewards for the gray-eyed thieves.

Those who hesitated and avoided battle would face strict penalties according to the sect rules!

The three masters stationed on the flying ship would be watching closely.

In such circumstances, who would dare to slack off?

In just a moment, four to five hundred Sunset Peak disciples left the flying ship, eager to earn merits.

However, Wang Chen lagged behind.

Just as he was about to leap out of the flying ship, he found the handsome boy next to him clinging tightly to the neighboring cabin door, his eyes tightly shut and trembling, too terrified to jump!

Wang Chen was speechless.

What was he doing trying to join the inner sect with such a timid nature?

Wouldn’t it be better to stay at home as a wealthy idler?

The boy obviously didn’t seem to come from a poor background; Wang Chen had no idea which family he was from!

So useless, he probably had already been abandoned.

Wang Chen shook his head and immediately kicked the boy hard in the rear.

With that, he sent him tumbling out of the flying ship.

As the saying goes, a good deed should be done to the end; send the Buddha all the way to the west.

No need to thank me!
