Chapter 150: Battling the Gray-Eyed Thieves Again

The stout fingers clenched, grasping a handful of dirt from the ground.

A massive head leaned in, its flat nose sniffing intently, its murky eyes—filled with puddles of pus—gazing in the direction where Wang Chen had fled, a greedy gleam in its dull yellow pupils.

“Man, you smell delicious!”

It emerged from the earth, its enormous body shedding clumps of dirt.

Standing upright, it towered over five zhang in height!

This giant, unmistakably female, strode forward, each step leaving deep imprints in the ground.

Its skin was a dark gray, covered in folds resembling the bark of an ancient tree.

Upon closer inspection, each fold appeared to be a twisted, agonized human face, silently screaming in torment.

Upon reaching the edge of the market town, the giant came to a halt.

It seemed to hesitate, as if wary of something.

Yet, it clearly wasn’t ready to give up. Suddenly, it opened its bloodthirsty mouth wide.

“Whoa~”

A torrent of muddy liquid gushed from its mouth, cascading to the ground like a waterfall.

Mixed within were dark red blood cocoons.

The force of the impact shattered the blood cocoons, and the figures hidden inside sprang to life one by one.

They wore gray tunics, their bodies lean and their expressions vacant, their gray eyes lifeless and dull.

“Go!”

The giant opened its palm, scattering the dirt it had gathered earlier over the gray-clad individuals, its voice booming, “Bring him back to me—alive!”

No sooner had it spoken than dozens of gray-clad figures shot forward like arrows loosed from a bow.

Their movement techniques were astonishingly swift.

“Cough, cough!”

The giant suddenly choked, coughing up a blood cocoon that it held in its mouth.

It hesitated briefly, then began to chew with force.

Crunch! Crunch!

Blood and viscous fluid dripped from the corners of its mouth.

The faces etched across its body surface twisted even more grotesquely.

Darkness once again enveloped the market town.

Meanwhile, Wang Chen, driven by a sense of impending danger, sped across the desolate wilderness under the night sky.

Though he was already far from the market town, the feeling of danger lingered in his heart, refusing to dissipate.

And it was growing stronger by the moment!

As Wang Chen ascended a hill, he glanced back.

In the distance, he saw gray shadows swiftly approaching from the direction of the market town!

Evil Spirits?

A chill ran through Wang Chen’s heart.

He hadn’t anticipated that a horde of Evil Spirits would emerge from the market town, relentlessly pursuing him.

His slaying of the ghost groom had evidently provoked the BOSS lurking within the Evil Nests.

Much like the Tree Granny from the graveyard.

But the colossal entity that had surfaced from the ground exuded an aura ten times more menacing than the Tree Granny.

It was undoubtedly a Grudge level Evil Spirit.

Likely a white resentment, or even a Black Resentment level entity!

Wang Chen knew he couldn’t afford to provoke such a formidable Evil Spirit, so he opted for a tactical retreat.

If the pursuer was indeed this Evil Spirit, his only option was to continue fleeing, drawing it toward the inner mountain gate of the Yunyang Sect.

By then, not even a Grudge level Evil Spirit, let alone a Ferocious Level Evil Spirit, would stand a chance!

However, the current pursuers…

Wang Chen suddenly felt a wave of calm, even a flicker of excitement.

One of the main reasons Wang Chen had ventured into the outer regions was to accumulate Virtue points.

Though he had amassed over three hundred points from the battle with the ghost groom, it was still far from enough to elevate all his crucial skills to perfect mastery.

The Evil Spirits now chasing him seemed like nothing more than experience bundles delivered straight to him!

Of course, Wang Chen didn’t underestimate his foes.

The pursuers numbered at least thirty, and even if they were all white-level Evil Spirits, the situation was perilous.

If they were stronger, and managed to encircle him, the hunter could swiftly become the prey!

With this mindset, Wang Chen swiftly drew a handful of legal symbols.

He spread his arms wide, flinging a dozen Exorcism Talismans in various directions.

Bursts of spiritual light silently erupted around Wang Chen, the intense, pure Yang energy quickly infusing the surrounding air and soil.

It wasn’t that Wang Chen had an excess of talismans to burn for amusement.

Rather, he sought to use these Exorcism Talismans to craft a battlefield environment advantageous to him.

The pure Yang energy released by the Exorcism Talismans could linger briefly if not neutralized by malevolent forces.

Any low-level Evil Spirit that ventured into this area would surely be affected!

It was a pity Wang Chen lacked knowledge of formations; otherwise, he could have used the Exorcism Talismans to set up a one-time Exorcism formation.

The destructive power against the Evil Spirits grew even stronger!

After casting the talismans, Wang Chen immediately formed a spell and activated the Fire Crow Technique.

With robust magical energy swirling around him, a burning aura radiated from his body, and Fire Crows quickly took form in front of him, spreading their wings that glimmered with intense light.

"Kill!"

Wang Chen commanded with a sharp shout, and his arms suddenly shook.

The six Fire Crows that had just materialized immediately soared high into the air.

They traced bright trails of fire in the night sky as they swooped down from above towards the pursuing Evil Spirits!

Defeating enemies within the range of magical assaults was the most orthodox Fighting Method for a cultivator.

Engaging in Close Combat was more of an alternative or a last resort!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The Fire Crows, formed through the master-level Fire Crow Technique, flew at incredible speed and crashed into the foremost Evil Spirits with a tremendous impact in the blink of an eye.

Fireballs exploded in bursts.

Using the light from the explosions, Wang Chen clearly saw the appearance of the pursuers.

Gray-eyed thieves?!

Wang Chen was quite familiar with the gray-eyed thieves.

He had faced them when he was at the fourth realm of Qi Training and had even killed one of the evil cultivators.

Later, Wang Chen obtained several heads of gray-eyed thieves from Lu Defang and exchanged them for rewards to enter the inner sect.

Moreover, he had taken on a bounty mission related to the gray-eyed thieves for this adventure.

Indeed, Wang Chen had a connection with the gray-eyed thieves!

But he never imagined that these evil cultivators had hidden in the market town and colluded with other Evil Spirits.

"Ah!"

Three gray-eyed thieves were struck by the Fire Crows, instantly turning into torches, letting out hoarse screams.

However, out of the six Fire Crows Wang Chen released, only half hit the targets.

The other three Fire Crows were dodged by the gray-eyed thieves.

They reacted extremely quickly, launching a fierce counterattack as they avoided the strikes!

Flashes of grayish wind blades whistled through the air, densely racing towards Wang Chen, who was standing on the hill, from a distance of over a hundred steps.

These wind blades were nearly translucent, spinning at high speeds, and there were countless of them.

In an instant, they sealed off the space around Wang Chen.

He had no retreat!

Faced with the Powerful Counterattack from his enemies, Wang Chen’s expression remained unchanged as he raised his right palm to shield himself.

A Spirit Light Shield suddenly materialized!

Puff! Puff! Puff!

Countless wind blades struck the shield, creating Rippling Waves, yet they failed to penetrate this thick and resilient defense.

But more gray-eyed thieves appeared around Wang Chen!
