Chapter 58

"Cutie, transform... transform!"

Titus continued to wag his tail, showing how happy she was.

Sylas was very puzzled because Titus had always been a good footstool. Whenever they went shopping together every two or three months, he would conscientiously transform back into a magic wolf and put on a harness to carry things.

I'll go... and help him...

Before she could speak, Xerath discreetly grabbed her wrist. Confused, she looked up and saw Xerath glance at her, winking her right eye.

"Shh..."

The subtle movements didn't distract the young man. He looked a bit anxious and nervously glanced at Sylas, unable to bring himself to meet Xerath's eyes – she looked cold and ready to lose her temper.

"Ladies, please be patient. This is how the magic wolves stools are delivered. They have been in stool form for too long, and they've forgotten how to transform. I will handle it, but it will take a little time."

Sylas nodded thoughtfully, while Xerath remained enigmatic.

The young man brought a large dog bowl and a bucket of milk, smiling at Titus. "Titus, my adorable little one, come, come, drink the milk!"

Titus happily followed, behaving like an innocent puppy. After the bowl was filled with milk, he wiggled his bottom and gulped down the forbidden treat he usually wasn't allowed to have at home.

Once Titus had his fill, the young man spoke softly to him and massaged his back with a gentle touch. The cunning little stool sprawled on the ground, humming along with the man's actions and swaying back and forth. Before long, it flipped over to expose its belly.

A hand gently stroked its belly as it kindly asked, "Sweetie, relax a bit. Do you remember how to transform?"

Titus tilted his head and let out a puzzled "woof," as if he didn't understand the word "transform" at all.

The young man was in a dilemma. He quickly glanced at two beautiful women standing nearby - one with cold gray eyes and pale golden hair that made her seem distant and icy, exuding a chilling aura. The other lady appeared much warmer and looked concerned as she watched in his direction. The young man couldn't help but flash a kind smile in her direction, hoping to calm himself down.

He swiftly extended his hand - Xerath noticed that his wrist was covered in writing, presumably cheat notes of some sort. But she pretended as if nothing had happened and pulled his sleeve down. He quickly left the area and returned with another dog bowl, inside of which... Sylas couldn't quite make out what it was before Titus suddenly became excited, wagging his tail even faster than usual.

The dog bowl was placed down, revealing a steak. Titus shouted with joy, burying his head and hungrily devouring it. After finishing, he sat down on his hindquarters, contentedly letting out a belch.

It seemed like this steak was even better than the ones at home, as Titus even showed his fluffy ears. The young man was ecstatic - at least this little cutie hadn't completely forgotten what it felt like to be a magic wolf, right? He reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue-green stone, gently calling out to Titus. Titus turned his head and, at the sight of the stone, stumbled for a moment.

Xerath pulled Sylas once again and whispered, "It's almost time, let's go." She then turned to the young man and said, "We'll leave it to you here. We have something to attend to."

"Take care, see you later!"

As Sylas was being pulled along, she looked back at Titus in confusion. But in one of her glances, she saw him raise his head and let out a howl, transforming into a majestic desert-colored magic wolf.

"Did you see it?"

"Um... was it deliberate by Titus earlier?"

"Yes."

"...just..." she frowned, "just to trick it into eating?"

"Of course."

Sylas giggled softly, shaking her entire shoulder. Titus was really clever.

"It's quite naughty. But after all, I tricked it to come here, it was supposed to come after a month."

"Because it's getting its hair shaved, taking a bath, getting shots, and taking medicine today, that's why we're indulging it?"

Xerath chuckled softly, "Sort of. Shall we go to the library?"

"Okay!"

"Um... I have some magazines to read. Would you like to do your own thing?"

"Of course, I don't want to disturb you."

"No, no. If you have any special trouble, you can come find me."

Sylas nodded and thought it was great that Xerath was busy with something. This way, she could sneak around without Xerath noticing. She happily bounced twice. Xerath glanced at her and softly reminded, "Pay attention to your behavior."

"Since we're not wearing wizard robes today, can't we make an exception?"

"Okay, just for today."

They walked into the state library. There weren't many people today, so the lobby seemed very spacious. The staff were organizing things at the front desk. Xerath pointed to the side and said, "I'll be in the periodical reading room. If you need me, come find me. Let me know before going somewhere else. Don't wander off on your own, alright?"

"Okay, teacher," Sylas obediently replied, secretly hoping that Xerath would go inside quickly. But she couldn't reveal her true intentions right now.

Xerath took two steps forward, then suddenly turned around. Sylas, who was about to run away, luckily still had some attention on Xerath and quickly turned back to stand in place.

"Sylas, promise me, don't run around."

"Of course, of course, you go ahead! I'll just stay in the library, not going anywhere, I promise." She pointed to her collarbone, where her contract mark was, which was a very formal promise. She purposely showed a cute smile, but couldn't help gripping her own backpack tightly. Xerath nodded and walked into the periodical reading room.

Sylas kept watching Xerath disappear behind the door, making sure the door to the reading room was closed properly, blocking Xerath's view perfectly. Then she turned and ran to the counter at the entrance of the borrowing room.

A lady with a grand figure smiled and said to her, "What do you need?"

Sylas was a bit nervous, looked around, and whispered, "Do you know if there are any books about 'Endless Water Realm'? Anything, not limited to children's books.

"Oh," the grand lady frowned involuntarily, "Of course we have, you asked the right person. This book, even though it's been a while, is undoubtedly perfect for you. 'Endless Water Realm Fantasy,' published fifteen years ago, my younger siblings loved it a lot."

It sounds like a novel, doesn't it? Sylas was a bit disappointed. "Um, is there...a more adult book?"

The plump lady showed an understanding smile, "I'm sorry, I haven't read all of our collection, but as for books with 'Endless Water Realm' in the title, there is no doubt that this is the only one. We're not a strictly professional library, so you might need to go to the reference room and look for more information yourself. Would you like to go there now?"

"I think I should go and take a look at the book you recommended."

"Okay, please wait a moment." She turned and walked into the catalog room behind her. After a while, she came out and wrote a line on the library bookkeeper next to her, then the feather pen, which looked very similar to the one at home, flew into the depths of the library and then flew out with a book.

The plump lady took the book, politely said "Thank you" to the feather pen, and turned to ask Sylas, "Do you want to borrow it now or read it in the reading room?"

"Thank you, I think I want to read it inside."

"That's great," the plump lady waited for Sylas to walk to the other side of the counter and handed her the book.

Sylas walked into the reading room with the book, found a table where no one was sitting casually - the library was rarely full, most of the time everyone occupied a table, quietly reading. Sylas opened her notebook and the book at the same time.

Without a doubt, this book was a novel, it was even in paperback, the cover was beautifully illustrated, and there were many vivid illustrations inside. The style was different from the Book of Elements, it had a very artistic style, but it accurately depicted the features of the water elemental creature.

She spent the whole morning reading this novel, completely forgetting to take notes. The reason why she temporarily forgot her task to read this novel was because it seemed to answer some of her questions about the social structure of elemental creatures: the protagonist, Dismis, was born from magical hatching in the water tribe - this magic accelerated the enrichment of water elementals. From a very young age, it knew to accumulate magic power to accelerate its own enrichment process. It often worked in the human world with its brothers and sisters - washing dishes or clothes and gradually grew into a water child. It got more and more jobs and entered a period of rapid growth.

But the good times didn't last long, its living water was disturbed by the stones thrown by the Sons of the Wind, and it had to put on frost armor and join the war.

But it still couldn't do anything! The most powerful water lord in the tribe, Dexus, organized everyone to unite. But the power of the Son of the Wind was too strong. Many water children that floated to the surface were directly dispersed, turning into tiny particles and entering a new cycle. Unprecedented fear shrouded this prosperous water area.

War is really terrible. The massive collision of wind and water caused thunderstorms. The entire sea was filled with lightning and storms, and the huge waves stirred up were fifty yards high. The entire sea was in chaos.

What's worse is that the messengers sent out by Lord Dexus have also returned. War is everywhere, and Grand Lord Akuiang is too busy to provide any effective support.

Oh my, is every single wind from the Wind Elemental Realm on the move?

But things finally took a turn. Dismiss and a few cousins formed a special attack team. Led by a water lord aunt, they braved the risk of being scattered by strong winds and dispersed by lightning as they rushed to the surface of the sea. With the help of magic, they captured a powerful Son of the Wind from the north and imprisoned it. This raging Son of the Wind was truly ferocious. The freezing cold wind it generated could even freeze water droplets. If one wasn't careful, the sea surface would be frozen. Sometimes, its rage even froze the water children responsible for guarding it.

But there's no choice. The powerful water lords cannot stay in shallow waters for too long. These tasks must be completed by the water children.
