Chapter 461
by 林方方Chapter 461 Sent to the Cold Palace
Can this men’s health clinic actually fix his problem?
Hearing that, Su Rui wanted to find a crack in the floor and disappear into it!
It really was a case of fearing the worst and having it happen — he had only just started suspecting that certain functions of his body might be on the fritz, and Lin Aoxue had already thoughtfully tracked down a hospital for him!
Should he feel grateful, or should he break down and cry?
Was this a helping hand in the snow, or a kick while he was down?
What kind of deal had Qin Yueran and Lin Aoxue struck? Why did the other party seem to know his every move?
Staring at the ad copy on the computer screen, Su Rui felt like crying but couldn’t shed a single tear.
“Do you come home after work, take one look at your beautiful wife, and feel not the slightest bit of interest — only worry and dread?
Does every encounter leave you utterly drained, feeling like you can’t hold your head up in front of your wife?
Do you want to reclaim your manhood? Do you want to find your dignity again? Do you want to see your wife become devoted to you once more?
What are you waiting for? Come to Dongjiang Men’s Health Hospital — the most professional solutions, the most dedicated approach, treating all your unspeakable troubles, with a 100% success rate, and absolute confidentiality guaranteed!”
“I want to die.” Su Rui tore his gaze away from the screen and looked at Lin Aoxue’s delicate, pretty face, his heart full of bitterness.
Strangely enough, Lin Aoxue couldn’t quite put a name to what she was feeling right now. By all rights, faced with something like this, she should have been furious, should have been angry, should have thrown a glass of water in Su Rui’s face — yet she found that beyond a faint sense of gloom and jealousy, she felt surprisingly little outrage.
What was going on?
Lin Aoxue was equally puzzled.
She looked at Su Rui with a complicated expression. Truth be told, she didn’t know much about the matters between men and women — she hadn’t even tried to find out through indirect channels, which put her far behind Qin Yueran in that department.
Qin Yueran, in her determination to handle Su Rui, had spent many days studying a certain country’s action films, convinced she had become a grandmaster of theory — only to find that everything she’d learned was completely useless against a Su Rui in full frenzy. The man had been like a boiling furnace, tossing her around until she was half dead, nearly foaming at the mouth… thinking back on it now, there really wasn’t much to romanticize about.
“Seven or eight hours — weren’t you exhausted?” Lin Aoxue said at last, after a long silence.
Su Rui felt strange too. Was he really exchanging notes with Lin Aoxue about sleeping with Qin Yueran?
“Exhausted beyond belief.” Su Rui said as much.
“So the drug was… powerful?” Lin Aoxue asked, eyes fixed on the tabletop.
“They claim half a bottle can knock out a full-grown elephant.” Su Rui felt his whole body heat up just thinking about it: “I drank two whole bottles.”
Lin Aoxue couldn’t hold it together anymore — a smile broke across her face in an instant.
Su Rui was nearly dumbstruck. Ever since he’d known Lin Aoxue, this woman had always given off an icy, distant impression. This was the first time he had ever seen her smile like this.
But his next words froze that breathtaking smile right on her face.
“I slept with another woman, and you actually find it funny?”
…………
“Rui-ge, why did you come out so fast?”
Xiaoyu watched Su Rui pull Lin Aoxue’s office door shut behind him with a dejected look, and asked curiously in a low voice.
“Where’s that bastard Zhou Xianwei?” Su Rui said helplessly. “Tell him he’s in charge of picking Lin Aoxue up and dropping her off for the next few days.”
During the time Su Rui had been away, Zhou Xianwei had been responsible for Lin Aoxue’s personal safety.
“Did the president fire you?” Xiaoyu said with a gossipy grin.
“Fire my ass, stop asking questions when you don’t know what’s going on, just go contact Zhou Xianwei.” Su Rui said irritably.
It was clear that Su Rui had said the wrong thing and been banished to the cold palace by the domineering female president.
“This mouth of mine.”
As he walked, Su Rui slapped himself hard across the mouth several times. He was genuinely beside himself with regret, and heaven only knew when the young Miss Lin would cool down.
So distracted was he that Su Rui rounded a corner and walked straight into someone.
“Oh!”
The other person let out a soft cry and stumbled backward, the documents in their hands scattering across the floor.
Su Rui had no time to register exactly what he’d collided with — with quick reflexes, he grabbed the person’s hand and pulled them into his arms.
The feeling was entirely different from Lin Aoxue or Qin Yueran.
The moment he felt that full, pressing softness, Su Rui realized that in the entire Bikang headquarters building, the only person with a figure like this was probably Xia Qing.
Ever since the last time things had nearly gone somewhere with Qin Yueran and been interrupted, Su Rui hadn’t seen this girl for quite a while.
Seeing Su Rui again, Xia Qing’s face lit up with undisguised delight.
But when she realized she was being held in his arms, two rosy blushes rose on her cheeks, and she instinctively stepped back.
“It’s only been a few days and I feel like your figure has gotten even better.” Su Rui said with a meaningful smile. Xia Qing was one of the few friends he had in Ninghai, and a little teasing between them was perfectly fine.
This girl really did have her own special qualities — he didn’t know how she’d developed the way she had, but she was far more impressive than Lin Aoxue, and could even surpass Xue Ruyun, who had already left Ninghai.
“Your focus is always so lowbrow.” Xia Qing smiled slightly. “Long time no see — how about we go have dinner at Yueran’s place tonight? My treat.”
The moment Su Rui heard it was the Junlan Kempinski Hotel, his legs nearly gave out. “No, no, no — I have no interest in seeing that she-devil. Can we go somewhere else?”
In his eyes, the Qin Yueran who had poisoned him with two bottles of ultra-strength aphrodisiac was no different from a she-devil.
“I really don’t know what’s going on with you two — you’re like natural-born enemies.” Xia Qing said helplessly upon hearing Su Rui’s complaints.
She liked Su Rui, and Qin Yueran was her best friend, so naturally she wanted to see her closest girlfriend and her secret crush get along well. But these two couldn’t meet without going at each other’s throats, which gave Xia Qing quite the headache.
Little did she know that these two sworn enemies who loved to bicker had already spent an entire day bickering in bed just yesterday.
“How could we not be enemies? That woman nearly finished me off, I…” Su Rui caught himself mid-sentence. Just bringing it up got him worked up, and he’d almost let something slip.
Xia Qing’s mind was far too pure to go anywhere near that interpretation — she assumed Qin Yueran had used taekwondo on Su Rui.
“Yueran can be a bit aggressive sometimes, but she has a good heart. If you got to know her better, I’m sure you’d think she’s great.”
“Great my ass! I’ve already gotten to know her very, very deeply!” Su Rui said through gritted teeth, deliberately stressing the words “very deeply.”
“Then come to my place — I’ll cook for you?” Xia Qing said helplessly, left with no other option.
“That works for me.”
Su Rui thought about how he’d already been banished to the cold palace by Lin Aoxue, and figured having a girl with a killer figure to keep him company through the long night ahead wasn’t a bad deal at all.
Seeing Su Rui agree so readily, a small flicker of joy passed through Xia Qing’s heart. She was just starting to think about what to cook for him that evening when her phone suddenly rang.
“It’s my mom.” Xia Qing didn’t step away from Su Rui, and answered: “Mom, what’s up?”
As she recalled, her mother almost never called during work hours — today was a little unusual.
“Xiaoqing, your dad and I have arrived in Ninghai, we’re about to get off the train.” Xia Qing’s mother’s voice came through the phone, as though something wonderful had happened, her tone full of happiness.
“How did you end up coming? You could’ve given me some warning so I could be prepared!” Xia Qing was caught off guard. Su Rui stood to the side with a quiet smile — it was obvious that Xia Qing’s parents had come to surprise their daughter and check in on how she was living.
“Of course we wanted to surprise you. You don’t need to come pick us up — we’ll just take a cab straight to your office.”
“You don’t have to do that, wait at the station and I’ll come get you.” Xia Qing said.
“It’ll be too congested during the evening rush if you come out. It’s settled — wait at your office, we’ll be there before you get off work.”
Watching the call end, Xia Qing was at a loss. “Those two, honestly — why did they have to show up now of all times? I’m completely unprepared.”
“It’s fine, spend the evening with your uncle and auntie — we can do dinner another day.”
“No need to push it back, we can all have dinner together tonight.” Xia Qing said without thinking.
“Have dinner together, and they’ll think their daughter brought her boyfriend home to meet the in-laws.”
Su Rui burst out laughing, sending two rosy clouds drifting across Xia Qing’s face — a charming sight.
“I wouldn’t have any objections if you became our family’s son-in-law.”
Xia Qing thought it to herself, but didn’t dare say it out loud. Ever since she’d met Su Rui, he had helped her so many times, and she had long since fallen deeply for this man who seemed so carefree on the surface.
“Alright, go get back to work — I’ll go take a look around the marketing department.” Su Rui pointed at the stack of documents in Xia Qing’s hands.
“Oh no, the chairman needs these urgently and I almost forgot.”
With that, Xia Qing quickly said goodbye to Su Rui and hurried off. She had been completely smitten just now — the moment she saw Su Rui, she had put all her work out of her mind.
Watching Xia Qing’s graceful figure disappear around the corner of the hallway, Su Rui then leisurely made his way toward the marketing department.
But the moment his figure appeared in the open-plan office, a wail erupted from the direction of Business Group One.
“Su Rui, my dear ancestor, you’re finally back!”
And then Su Rui saw a fat guy rolling toward him.
How had Cao Tianping gotten even fatter in just a few days? He remembered when they first met, the guy had only been slightly chubby — now he looked like he’d been inflated with a pump.
The “dear ancestor” made Su Rui break out in goosebumps all over. He was still young — he had no interest in having such a useless grandson.
“Don’t call me that like we’re so close.” Su Rui looked at Cao Tianping with undisguised disdain. “Do we even know each other that well?”
“You’re finally back, you’re finally back.” Cao Tianping was beside himself with excitement, tears already glistening in his eyes.
Seeing this, Su Rui felt every hair on his body stand on end. Had this fat guy gone and changed his preferences while they were apart?
“Stay away from me.” Su Rui saw Cao Tianping moving in for a hug and nearly kicked the guy aside.
“Do you have any idea — Tang Ni Landor’s concert is in just three days! I listened to you and didn’t buy tickets in advance, and then you vanished for days with your phone off. I’ve been going out of my mind! My dear ancestor, hurry up and get me a ticket!”
