Chapter 527
by fanqienovelChapter 527: The "Weaver of Life" Giant God, High Beyond Reach
"Who would have thought that we would one day learn from mortal farmers how to work the land?"
Gimmerly kept rolling her eyes.
As a noble ruler of the void, she felt very unhappy about having to bow to the "primordial" and "ether."
But there was nothing she could do.
This was the First Demon God’s command.
Also, the order made sense; unless they could trade more gains with Barbatos, they had to take on this job.
In the past, Gimmerly would have done everything to fight back against Barbatos’s orders.
But now…
The First Demon God had started "emergency measures," and its commands had the backing of the Will of Chaos, so no one could openly refuse.
Besides, Barbatos had told Gimmerly to plant and raise new "Fantasy Trees of Subspace." Finishing this task would give Gimmerly big rewards, as she could choose a few trees from the growing Fantasy Trees for her own lands.
If she kept resisting…
That would blow her cover.
Gimmerly had to keep pretending.
With her beak, she planted a "Fantasy Tree sapling" into the fallen forest.
"Zzzz…"
The sapling gave off a golden light never seen before from a regular Fantasy Tree of Subspace, and it grew strong and fast.
The Giant God’s scent spread through the void, then quickly disappeared.
The roots reached deep into the primordial, holding the tree firmly in place.
Neither the wild turbulent waves of the void nor the rushing flood of ether could knock it down.
These hardy "Fantasy Tree saplings" came from the ruined "City of White Heat."
Though the "City of White Heat" fell to the attack of the Star-Eater Plutonium Dragons, from its ashes rose a special "Fantasy Tree."
It was totally unlike the other Fantasy Trees of Subspace!
It pushed them away and took their place.
It even gave off a faint hint of the Giant God’s presence.
If it had grown as huge as before in the "City of White Heat," it would have caught the eye of Barbatos and even the Will of Chaos. Luckily, the new "Fantasy Tree of Subspace" did not stand out.
Instead of reaching up into the void, it sank roots deep into the primordial, fixing itself in this cruel world.
This plan worked.
Soon, this well-rooted "Fantasy Tree" made "golden seeds," and the Giant God Association members spread these seeds and grew new saplings.
Now, these hidden saplings were finally being used!
"Good!"
Watching a life sprout and grow should have been a happy thing.
However, this little happiness still couldn’t wash away the frustration and gloom in Gimmerly’s heart.
"Why?!"
She finally couldn’t take it anymore.
The question inside her demanded to be voiced.
"Since Valaharl joined us, eleven out of twelve seats in the Core Council of Chaos belong to the Giant God Association!"
That was indeed true.
Gimmerly, Xidi, Baimeng, Barbatos, Magaxia, Morax, Sotiko, Shaks, Amon, the King of Ether, and Valaharl—all bore the Giant God’s mark.
Though a few seemed reluctant, by now they’d all become those who complained but still obeyed.
Their divine bodies had been fully exposed to the Giant God, handled and reshaped into forms familiar to Him. Could they really claim reluctance?
"Barbatos is a commander without an army now."
"In every sense of the phrase."
"We could’ve overthrown that self-important ‘First Demon God’ ages ago!"
"Why keep up this charade?"
Before other deities, Gimmerly always appeared sharp-tongued and clever,
acting as if she understood everything and could see through any god’s will at a glance.
Yet before her elder sister Xidi, Gimmerly seemed like a clueless child.
Only a clueless child would whine like this.
Xidi first clumsily planted the golden-glowing "Fantasy Tree sapling" radiating Giant God’s aura, then slowly turned to look at Gimmerly.
"Gimmerly."
"Think deeper."
"Do you believe the Giant God doesn’t know these things?"
"Whether it’s our absolute majority in the Core Council of Chaos, or Barbatos’s malicious schemes against Him?"
"But can you sense any hostility from the Giant God toward Barbatos?"
Gimmerly pondered…
Her eyes widened in astonishment.
"It’s true!"
"The Giant God feels…"
"not a shred of hostility toward Barbatos!"
The Giant God had shown hostility before—
like during His first confrontation with Xidi.
Yet those who faced Him either joined His ranks or were devoured.
But with Barbatos…
The Giant God held no hostility towards Barbatos from start to finish.
“Even…”
“It seemed some completely ignored Him!”
“This…”
Upon thinking this, Gimmerly felt both astonished and fearful.
She envisioned the mortals, herself, Lady Xidi, and everyone in the Core Council of Chaos, even Barbatos, as mere puppets in the Giant God’s hands.
The web of fate had long been woven by the Giant God, and everything danced to His rhythm!
“No wonder… He felt no hostility towards Barbatos…”
“He even somewhat ignored him.”
“Right…”
“Who would bear hostility toward a grasshopper in their palm?”
Watching Gimmerly in her shocked contemplation, murmuring softly to herself, Lady Xidi nodded in approval.
“You realized it too.”
“The Giant God kept Barbatos because either He considered Barbatos insignificant to the Great Plan, or He simply enjoyed the clown’s performance, turning all Barbatos’s so-called ‘plans’ to His advantage.”
“The Giant God…”
“Deserved a new title.”
Lady Xidi looked up into the void.
Her eyes held a hint of helplessness and despair.
She once believed her intelligence was exceptional, that she stood at a high level.
But now, she couldn’t even gaze levelly at the Giant God.
Looking up, she saw only infinite threads of fate; the Giant God’s place remained unseen, no matter how high she looked, how hard she climbed, or how desperately she strained.
She had asked herself countless times—at what level was the Giant God?
That question stayed unanswered.
“With such intelligence…”
“The capability to toy with the First Demon God at will…”
“Only the title ‘Weaver of Fate’ could truly reflect His power!”
Just as the sisters lamented how high the Giant God was…
“Hiss…”
Strands of black and gray began to fall from the void above.
They landed around the saplings of the “Giant God Fantasy Tree” that had been planted.
“Zzzz…”
The saplings seemed to spring to life suddenly.
The speed of growth also quickened a bit.
—-
“Light! Why was there so much light!”
“Hurry, cast magic!”
“Can’t!”
“The scorching turbulent waves disrupted spellcasting!”
“Cough, cough…”
“What are these black particles? They mess with magic circuits when inhaled.”
“Ugh…”
The lesser demon gods wailed everywhere.
Just as they felt triumphant and prepared to charge into the shattered Bubble World "Valaharl" for another horrific mortal slaughter, burning turbulent waves suddenly engulfed them.
The currents carried strange black and gray particles that jammed their magic circuits, preventing escape spells.
Worse, those scalding particles burned upon impact. When hitting vulnerable spots like eyes, they caused excruciating pain.
These gods had rarely faced anything like this.
“What’s happening?!”
“Where did this damned void torrent come from?!”
“When will it end?!”
But they didn’t realize the torment wasn’t ending.
The suffering of the lesser Chaos Demon Gods had only just begun.
“Boom—!”
A deafening roar echoed from afar.
Within moments, it was upon them!
“Hiss—!”
“Crackle—!”
Now more than brown or black particles rode the void’s burning currents.
Bright, blistering spheres of light came swirling!
They weren’t peaceful—irregular tentacles lashed out, scorching and torturing everything nearby!
Larger light spheres followed close behind!
Like a colossal, misshapen beast, they devoured surroundings with fiery giant jaws.
“Who… dragged the Fire Domain down here?!”
“Never mind that!”
“Run! Just run!”
The lesser Chaos Demon Gods scattered wildly.
Roasted and chased by the searing "Fire Domain Descension," they fled desperately beyond the woods.
Their united formation shattered completely, beyond reorganization.
But when some gods escaped to a relatively open area dotted with strange, low "Giant God’s Towers" and "Giant God’s Domes"…
“Swish… Swish… Swish…”
They faced a terrifying torrent of steel!
