    Chapter 647: Sword God’s Scheme

While Fang Lie searched for the Ximen family clan’s treasures, Sword God teleported back to their headquarters where Ximen Qingdong awaited news.

Ximen Qingdong rushed forward. "Senior, what happened?"

"Fang Lie paused temporarily," Sword God replied with furrowed brows. "I need to speak with your Family Heads."

Ximen Qingdong froze, thinking: *Paused? Weren’t you supposed to kill him? Why’s he still alive? Did you chicken out?* Though inwardly scornful, he forced a smile. "Both Family Heads are in closed-door training. What should we do?"

"Take me to their retreat," Sword God said calmly. "They’re refining artifacts, not cultivating. I can communicate through divine sense."

Realizing Sword God knew the truth, Ximen Qingdong sighed. The Ximen clan had wronged Fang Lie first, and even Sword God—despite their feud—wouldn’t casually kill a fellow righteous sect member without justification.

"Understood," Ximen Qingdong said hurriedly, leading him to a stone door at a mountain’s base—the sealed retreat of Purple and Blue Ancestors. Though seemingly unguarded, this was the core of their protective array. Even Sword God with his ninth-rank Flying Sword couldn’t challenge it without being obliterated.

Sword God transmitted his voice: "Brothers, forgive the intrusion."

"Brother-in-law!" Blue Ancestor exclaimed. "Why come personally? A message would suffice!"

"Trouble?" Purple Ancestor cut in. "Speak plainly—we’ll draw swords for you."

Warmth flooded Sword God’s heart. Despite the Ximen clan’s notorious arrogance, their internal unity was ironclad—especially among blood relatives. These two had always supported him since he married their sister.

Blushing, Sword God admitted, "Shamefully, your clan faces greater peril than I do. I came to aid but… failed."

"Ximen clan in peril?" Blue Ancestor thundered. "Ximen Qingdong! Explain!"

"Ancestors, it’s Fang Lie!" Ximen Qingdong wailed. "He destroyed a town, stole Spirit Jade mines and the Ten-Thousand-Year Field! Ten thousand disciples dead! Losses beyond counting!"

"Fools!" Purple Ancestor roared. "With twenty Thunder Tribulation Immortals and three ninth-rank treasures, how did this happen?"

"Fang Lie fights like a demon!" Ximen Qingdong complained. "Mo Qianxun gave him Semi-Immortal Sword Energy! Our experts are no match!"

"And the ninth-rank treasures?" Blue Ancestor snapped.

"Fang Lie trapped their keepers!" Ximen Qingdong cried. "Dozens of clones besiege their homes—if they leave with treasures, he’ll slaughter their families!"

"Unacceptable!" Blue Ancestor turned to Sword God. "Can’t you intervene?"

Sword God shook his head. "Fang Lie’s the Mo Sect Elder and Benevolence Token Lord. As East Kunlun’s leader, I can’t kill him without cause."

The Ancestors grimaced—asking Sword God to act openly was impossible.

"Damn it!" Blue Ancestor growled. "We’re at critical juncture! Must we abandon everything?"

"Brothers," Sword God urged, "Fang Lie’s trouble enough, but Mo Qianxun’s the true schemer. Is an eighth-rank Flying Boat worth provoking both?"

"This isn’t ordinary!" Purple Ancestor insisted. "It’s the mutated Netherworld Ghost Fire Flying Boat! Xuan Sect offered their ninth-rank Black Steel Mountain Seal for it—he refused!"

"What?" Sword God started. "Xuan Sect humbled themselves… and failed? No wonder you’re desperate!"

"Buy us a month," Blue Ancestor pleaded. "We’ll crush that brat afterward!"

Sword God sighed. "I tried threatening Fang Lie, even promised answers in a month. He only gave me one hour to consult you!"

Blue Ancestor scoffed. "He insults you so blatantly, yet you tolerate it?"

"If I could kill him permanently," Sword God said darkly, "I’d risk war with Mo Sect. But his undying nature means I’d only destroy clones while inviting endless trouble."

Purple Ancestor narrowed his eyes. "You’ve changed. Where’s the Sword God who eliminated threats decisively?"

"You misunderstand," Sword God countered. "I act only when success is certain. Need I remind you who arranged the Shi Shen and Zhu Xian joint assassination?"

The Ancestors gasped. "That was your doing?!"

"Indeed." Sword God’s smile turned bitter. "I employed Left Dao’s Curse Technique to reverse causality—yet still failed to break his immortality. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to studying countermeasures."

    "Found anything?" Blue Ancestor pressed.

"Nothing." Sword God spread his hands. "Until then, provoking Fang Lie invites disaster. Return the Flying Boat. I’ll mediate for partial restitution. Once we crack his undying secret…" His eyes hardened. "…we’ll end him."

After long silence, Blue Ancestor growled, "Do it."
