Chapter 863
by fanqienovelChapter 863: The Oath
In the underground space, Xu Fan was engraving celestial scripts on a large celestial tool furnace.
“Even though I’m an artifact great master now, why does it feel like these celestial scripts are never enough?” Xu Fan muttered as he worked on the celestial tool.
“You’re advancing too fast, and the celestial tools you’re crafting are too complex. It’s no wonder you’re running out,” avatar number one chimed in.
“I should’ve stocked up on more celestial scripts back when I was at the Spring Blossom Merchant Association,” Xu Fan said with a hint of regret.
A beam of celestial spirit light shot into the sky, and as the celestial tool took shape, a phenomenon unfolded.
By now, the disciples of the Hidden Spirit Sect were used to such sights; these spirit lights erupted every so often.
Over at the Artifact Crafting Peak, Zhang Daqi was deep in discussion with Sha Diao about artifact crafting when he noticed the beam of spirit light. His eyes filled with admiration for Xu Fan.
“After all these years, you still haven’t gotten used to it?” Sha Diao teased with a laugh.
“Now that Uncle Sha has officially become an artifact great master, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed,” Zhang Daqi joked back.
“What kind of artifact great master am I? Crafting even a single artifact is still a struggle,” Sha Diao said, poking fun at himself.
Zhang Daqi glanced at Sha Diao, who held the certification of a celestial tool grandmaster, and sighed, turning his head away.
“I recently finished the task my master assigned me, thanks to Uncle’s help. I wonder what he’ll teach me next,” Zhang Daqi said, his voice tinged with hope.
Xu Fan regularly assigned tasks to Zhang Daqi, and with each completed task, Zhang Daqi’s understanding of artifact crafting deepened. He was confident that, over time, becoming an artifact great master was just a matter of time.
“The requirements for that artifact alloy are too high. If you can find a way to raise the melting point a bit, I can help you figure it out,” Sha Diao suggested.
“Uncle, we can’t raise the melting point any further. That would disqualify the high spirit fire, and I haven’t fully refined the divine fire core my master gave me yet. It’s not ready for use,” Zhang Daqi explained, his face scrunched in frustration.
“Giving you tools doesn’t seem to help much. You’ll have to figure this one out on your own.”
“Your master’s large celestial tool furnace is done. I need to focus on the celestial tool alloy now,” Sha Diao said, waving Zhang Daqi off.
Back in the underground space, Sha Diao circled the large celestial tool furnace, which measured ten zhang in diameter.
“This is it! Once I pair it with the internal divine fire core, I can refine celestial tool alloy in no time,” Sha Diao said, his excitement palpable.
As he admired his creation, a wave of pride washed over him.
“Brother Sha, why don’t you engrave your mark on this celestial tool furnace? From now on, it’s yours,” Xu Fan offered.
“This thing’s no use to me. Besides, I don’t have enough spiritual energy to operate it.”
“If the Grand Elder is willing, could you craft me a smaller celestial tool furnace? It would make my experiments much easier,” Sha Diao requested.
“Consider it done!” Xu Fan agreed without hesitation.
What’s wrong with a research-oriented talent asking for more equipment?
After handing the large celestial tool furnace over to Grapes and setting up the production line, Xu Fan suddenly received a message from the named disciple he had taken in.
“What’s this little spider doing here?”
“You’ve got some nerve, don’t you?” Xu Fan chuckled.
In the courtyard, Xu Fan stood face-to-face with the white-haired girl.
"Over the years, you’ve made impressive progress, more than I expected," Xu Fan said with a smile.
"I must thank Master for your teachings back then," the white-haired girl replied, bowing respectfully.
"Back then, I only taught you some techniques and methods because of your extraordinary talent."
Xu Fan nodded at the girl before him; among all his disciples, the most outstanding was this white-haired girl from the Earth Crystal Spider clan.
"Go ahead, tell me, you didn’t come all the way from the extreme cold of your demon race just to say hello, did you?"
Xu Fan poured a cup of tea, indicating for the white-haired girl to sit down.
"Please, Master, grant us a chance to survive!" the white-haired girl knelt down again, her head bowed deeply to the ground.
"Are you referring to the beast race or your own faction?" Xu Fan asked gently.
"I mean the weak races from the demon race that I protect. They bear no grudge against the human race; they’re just a group of pitiful little demons," the white-haired girl explained.
"What kind of chance do you want?" Xu Fan inquired again.
"I want to bring these weak races under Master’s wing, to serve and protect them in exchange for a safe place to live."
"That’s a rather modest request. But if that’s the case, the demons you bring along may never rise again."
"I just want them to live peacefully and pass on their racial inheritance," the white-haired girl looked up with sincerity in her eyes as she gazed at Xu Fan.
"How many demons are you protecting?" Xu Fan asked.
"Two billion demons. I have screened each one; they have never shed a drop of human blood."
Xu Fan looked at the white-haired girl and then suddenly glanced at the sky.
He thought about the Heavenly Way’s Will and the original script it had set forth.
The empress is destined to clash with this person from the demon race.
"Your current fighting strength is already akin to that of the original Purple Jade Flood Dragon. There is a place that would suit you very well, but I wonder if you would be willing to go," Xu Fan pondered aloud.
He intended for the Heavenly Way’s script to unfold in the Chaotic Star Region, curious about what would happen.
"What place?" the white-haired girl asked with curiosity.
"The Chaotic Star Region within the star domain." Xu Fan explained the location of the Chaotic Star Region to the white-haired girl.
"That place is split into countless small worlds, with humans only occupying one-third of the territory. The rest is filled with various alien races from different middle thousand worlds."
"If you’re willing, I can send all of you there to carve out your own path," Xu Fan said.
Hearing Xu Fan’s words, the white-haired girl became excited.
She transformed into her true form, an Earth Crystal Spider the size of a Wuling Hongguang, glistening and pure white.
"You’re not as cute as before," Xu Fan remarked, looking at the transformed Earth Spirit Spider.
"&#@&%~"
An ancient language of the demon race echoed.
Xu Fan understood the Earth Crystal Spider was swearing an oath at the cost of its own soul.
Translated, it meant: "I will never be an enemy of the human race again."
After the vow was completed, the Earth Crystal Spider transformed back into the white-haired girl.
"Actually, you don’t need to do that; just don’t harm the human race," Xu Fan shook his head and said.
"Master is of the human race, so I, as your disciple, will not be an enemy of humans in the future," the white-haired girl stated resolutely.
"Alright, just give me your location, and I will arrange for the Universe Ship to transport you all to the Chaotic Star Region in batches," Xu Fan said.
"Thank you, Master." The white-haired girl provided Xu Fan with a coordinate.
"Before you leave, I have nothing to give you, so I will complete the subsequent techniques for you. You can cultivate accordingly and become a true immortal," Xu Fan produced a jade plate in his hand.
After receiving it, the white-haired girl performed three kneels and nine prostrations to Xu Fan before departing.
"I wonder if you will still have the life of a protagonist after reaching the Chaotic Star Region."
