Chapter 11: I’m Actually a Warrior?
by WuWangChapter 11: I’m Actually a Warrior?
“Congratulations, Louis.” Lufield walked over like a gentleman, patted Louis’s back in a friendly way, and showed a sincere smile.
What a shameless guy!
I am deeply shocked by your audacity!
“Impromptu speech.” Louis said, shaking his head like a bookworm who didn’t understand social niceties. “I told you, Lufield, impromptu speech—read more books, and someday you’ll be like me too.”
Lufield’s face turned pale. He even forgot all the lines he had prepared earlier.
This pushy bookworm!!
Seeing Helen waving at him over there, Louis patted Lufield’s shoulder, dropped a sentence, and left: “Do your best, His Highness has high hopes for you. Hehe…”
Clap clap clap clap clap, a group of apprentices in the distance raised antique-style magic cameras and took a bunch of chaotic photos, turning this friendly moment between the two close classmates into a series of moving oil paintings.
Amidst the flashing lights, Lufield felt a tightness in his chest, and golden stars danced before his eyes.
Why did you have to bring that up! Have you no emotional intelligence?! Have all your books fried your brain?!
He and Tyrus had prepared for this assessment for so long, only to end up with this kind of performance.
The dancing scene would definitely make it to ‘The Great Prophet’ tomorrow!
He needed to hurry back and find someone to smooth this over; otherwise, the entire ‘Isbell’ family would be so proud of him!
“Your Highness.” A noble suddenly walked over and whispered in Lufield’s ear: “I’ve already contacted the publicity department. The carriage is ready.”
Looking at Ocris surrounded by professors in the distance, and at Louis who had approached and was being surrounded by professors asking questions, Lufield took a deep breath, rubbed his forehead, and said: “Let’s go, to the publicity department to find my uncle.”
You little brat! Lufield glared fiercely at Louis in the distance—what are you pretending for! That magic spell was written by Ocris, not you! What are you so cocky about!
No time today, I have to clean up my own mess—just wait till I come back next semester!
Now Lufield and Tyrus had essentially stepped into it; even if they didn’t make the headlines, there would definitely be a pile of trouble at home. Probably these two interesting fellows wouldn’t be seen for the two-month summer break.
Next time we meet, maybe we’ll all be professors.
Louis, by ability; the other two, by connections.
On the other side, Louis had already been pulled to the entrance by Helen.
Over here, Ocris was cheerfully chatting with the white-robed wizards. Among the crowd was a very special, thin, small old man.
He looked only about half a person tall! He floated in mid-air. He wore red robes, had a large white beard, and was smoking a pipe.
He should be the principal of Holy Oak Academy, ‘Oliver’, a Yordle halfling!
This guy probably just came over to see the excitement. He didn’t look anything like a principal; instead, he resembled a mischievous little old man.
Ocris was currently tugging at Principal Oliver’s clothes, acting spoiled, seemingly trying to ask for some position as an opportunity.
It seemed the little old man Oliver was Ocris’s close elder.
But the little old man didn’t pay attention to Ocris. He was puffing on his pipe, watching with a playful smile not far away.
Louis followed Principal Oliver’s gaze and saw that Mr. Tyrus not far away was grinning foolishly, shaking hands with people around him.
This scene nearly made Louis laugh out loud.
Unfortunately, Tyrus didn’t act for long before he was stopped by a woman wearing a witch’s hat with a particularly striking figure.
The witch crooked her finger, and Tyrus walked over to her side in a daze. Then the witch checked Tyrus’s eyes, blew two breaths on him, and Tyrus fainted.
[Yingling dispelled Tyrus’s ‘Infatuation’.]
[It seems Tyrus will be fine after a good sleep. But today will surely be unforgettable. Presumably, when Tyrus sees you again, he will cover his face and walk away—clearly, his skin isn’t as thick as Lufield’s.]
“Yingling?” Louis’s expression was full of strangeness.
He remembered that ‘strange wizard’ seemed to be called Yingling.
“Oh, she’s a Foxkin. Their names are all very strange, but she is a true Grand Wizard, and also my sister’s good friend.” Helen whispered.
“Foxkin?”
“Yeah, outsiders.” Helen pulled Louis towards the door: “Stop staring, be careful she plays a trick on you.”
“Where are we going?” Louis asked while walking.
“To the Ministry of Magic’s campus office – Special Mysteries Handling Office.” Helen whispered excitedly: “Director ‘Trif’ just said, although we didn’t pass the assessment, he can give us a temporary worker position!”
Helen walked over to Ocris and whispered a couple of words to her sister. Ocris was busy dealing with the professors and might need to wait a while longer. So the two of them went to the corridor to wait.
Leaning on the mahogany railing with Helen, Louis looked at the scene before him, feeling utterly amazed.
This was the first time Louis saw what this Holy Oak Academy looked like. It seemed to be a huge and magnificent ancient magic castle. According to the records, its area was almost equivalent to the Forbidden City.
The total number of towers from several branch schools added up to more than thirty, and there was also a black lakeside in the garden.
Right now, the two of them were standing in a corridor beside a spiral staircase on some floor of the West District castle.
Looking down, one could see the constantly moving spiral staircase. Many corridors below were also filled with all sorts of strange wizards and witches. There were also beings about half a person tall, wearing wizard hats, riding magic carpets or brooms, flying through the halls.
Besides, there were many nobles, Ministry of Magic officials, professors, and students. These people were coming out of various exam rooms.
Everyone was happy today. For the officials and ministers, the understaffed departments had finally hired excellent scholars. For the nobles, having their family relatives or retainers enter some good departments was not only a great thing but also brought much prestige.
Ocris was even more joyous, because the teacher had finally agreed to let her become the Dean of Teaching Affairs!
At this moment, Louis, who was watching the commotion in the corridor, also saw some narration appear before his eyes.
[You helped Ocris resolve the current crisis, and you also resolved your own predicament.]
[You are becoming more integrated into this world…]
[Presence +30]
[Strength +3]
[Experience +100]
[The attention of the Sacred Oak…]
Louis eagerly checked his reward record.
One was the reward from ‘Teacher, I don’t know how’, which included the ‘Mana +1’ he had already seen, and also a ‘certificate’, but this certificate wasn’t a withdrawal certificate anymore; it was a ‘Special Mysteries Handling Office Temporary Worker Credential’. It was waiting for him to pick up.
There was also ‘Strength +3’ and ‘Experience +100’. This should be the special reward from the Book of Fate after helping Ocris change the plot (fate).
Louis suspected that the Book of Fate’s energy might come from his changes to this world’s fate. The more things he stirred up, the stronger he would become.
His current attributes had changed to:
[Louis Lv2 (0/100)]
[Strength: 4.9 Dexterity: 1.3 Mana: 4.1]
[Storybook Energy: 1]
This Storybook energy seemed to come from ‘leveling up’. It could be added to attributes or used to learn magic spells.
After thinking for a moment, Louis looked at the few relatively good magic spells he currently had.
‘Demon-Banishing Charm Lv2 (0/80)’
‘Infatuation Lv1 (0/15)’
‘Forbidden. Marionette Lv0 (0/679)’
He added that 1 point of Storybook energy to Marionette, and then felt a sudden understanding.
[You have learned ‘Forbidden. Marionette Lv1 (0/20)’]
‘This move is really peculiar. When using it, not using a wand actually works better.’
Louis looked at his attributes, and his expression became strange again.
‘I can understand that helping Ocris gives a special reward, but why did it add to Strength?’
[Because in Ocris’s imagination, you are a powerful warrior who can kill a dragon with one punch.]
‘…’
Louis continued reading:
[The attention of the Sacred Oak — It recently encountered a small problem and hopes the traveler can lend a hand (requires a certain magic spell to reach Lv4).]
This should be some small quest. The specific rewards would be known after accepting the quest at the Sacred Oak.
A magic carpet with no one riding it flew past. Helen waved at it, and the magic carpet screeched to a halt, turned around, and flew over.
“My sister still needs to chat with the professors for a bit. She asked us to go eat in the Southern District first—don’t just stand there, let’s go.” Helen tugged at Louis, seeming already quite impatient. She pulled Louis onto the carpet.
