Chapter 796: Casual Transmission of Skills

"Do you think I’d spare you? Such arrogance." Ye Yun shook his head with amusement while crossing the abyssal maw of Nine Demons Burning. He observed the retreating demonic energy in the distance. The upper four layers now held few beasts—only weak true qi creatures remained, with even Golden Core stage beasts becoming rare.

"It seems they understand tactical retreats. The Demon Race shouldn’t be underestimated." Finally leaving Nine Demons Burning behind, Ye Yun accelerated, soon reaching the entrance’s upper ridge. He chuckled, "All settled. Now I have clearer measure of my capabilities."

Regarding Sata Hui of the Eighth Level Earth Immortal realm, Ye Yun felt little concern. The demon’s battle armor had been the true challenge, not the wielder himself. Had Sata Hui possessed real skill, he wouldn’t have relied on external aids.

"Still, he made decent opponent. Perhaps I judged him too harshly." Soaring through turbulent winds, Ye Yun sensed he could shred the skies themselves if provoked. "No wonder Heavenly Immortals create battle realms. Even I can stir heaven’s fury now—still mortal, yet no longer powerless."

Approaching Red City, he landed three miles out and ambled toward its gates. Farmers toiled safely in surrounding fields, the city’s protection enabling mundane lives. Spotting three girls ogling a sword-practicing youth, Ye Yun drifted closer.

The maidens—dressed in simple cloth—beamed at his approach. His fine silks and magnetic presence disarmed them. "What brings you here, noble sir?"

"Merely curious about your gathering." Ye Yun’s eyes twinkled. "Though I see young hearts fluttering."

"You’re barely older than us!" The girl called Zi Yi giggled. "Playing the elder, aren’t you?" Her companions laughed freely, while a thin girl flushed and stammered.

"Why engage these fledglings?" Ancestor’s voice held amusement. "Since when do you court maidens?"

"Merely mentoring juniors." Ye Yun sighed internally. The old spirit always misread his intentions. His friendliness toward Shui Lingling and Qing Li stayed platonic, though he’d caught himself admiring the latter before she mastered aura concealment. Human-Devil divides remained absolute.

Zi Yi boldly inquired, "Are you heading to Red City? Where immortals dwell?"

At their hopeful stares, Ye Yun nodded.

"So you’re an immortal!" exclaimed the girl named Qing Yi.

"Hardly. Just minor tricks." He gestured at his Purple Shadow Divine Sword. "This trinket’s mere protection against misfortunes."

"But you can do magic!" they chorused, mistaking his modesty for insecurity. "That’s already wonderful!"

"Your kindness heartens me." Three teal orbs materialized in Ye Yun’s palm—condensed Immortal spirit energy from top-tier stones. "Small tokens."

The girls gasped at the soothing energy. "For… us?"

"Would I tease children?" The orbs merged into their bodies, eliciting glowing complexions. Nearby, the practicing youth glared suspiciously.

"Nothing left to share." Ye Yun shrugged.

"What did you do?" The youth approached warily, then relaxed upon sensing his friends’ enhanced vitality. He clasped hands apologetically—he’d grown accustomed to their admiration, though initially annoyed.

"Promising seedling, though dense," Ancestor remarked.

"His resolve shines." Ye Yun removed his Black Sword Ring. "This holds the Illusory Sword Path. Our meeting’s fate."

The youth hesitated, then pricked his finger. Blood touched metal, unleashing torrential memories that felled him instantly.

"Will he die?" The girls eyed Ye Yun anxiously.

"Merely sleeping. Guard him well." Ye Yun studied their faces. "Or… I could teach one of you cultivation."

"Must we… kill each other?" The thin girl’s eyes burned with hunger.

"Would you?" Ye Yun arched an eyebrow.

Her sisters intervened. "We decline! Family matters most!"

The thin girl trembled—yearning for silken robes and lavish tables over straw-hut poverty. Stone blade hidden behind back, she prepared to sever sibling bonds.

"Ruthless ambition for one so young." Ancestor sounded equal parts impressed and weary. "Human nature’s endless paradox."

Blood pooled as two bodies fell. The thin girl met Ye Yun’s gaze, desperation masking guilt. "Honor… your promise."

He gestured at the unconscious youth. "Kill him. His inheritance becomes yours."
