Chapter 770
by fanqienovelChapter 770: Qing Li
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Deafening explosions shook the heavens. Ye Yun watched He Xiaoan scatter his attention and flee, but chose not to give chase. The man’s life held no value in his eyes. Turning toward the blast site of the Seven-Star Celestial Orbs, he found only a gaping crater.
"You ignored my warning to stop him. Now what will you feed that succubus?" the Ancestor grumbled at the sight of the pit.
In that critical moment, Ye Yun could have used spatial laws to intercept He Xiaoan. His supreme Immortal artifacts from the Storage Treasure – particularly the Immortal Garment he’d recently bonded with – could have shielded him from the blast.
"His fate means nothing to me. Besides, the Demon Realm’s weapon remains intact." Ye Yun gestured at the black battle blade oozing demonic energy within the crater. "Impressive durability. Seems demonic tools prioritize raw sturdiness over our Immortal artifacts’ finesse."
"Most Devil Race fighters enhance their bodies with demonic energy rather than casting spells," the Ancestor explained. "Their physical strikes rival our Divine Arts while conserving energy. Demon gods can shatter stars through brute force alone – simpler than our energy-intensive Divine Arts."
A grin spread across the Ancestor’s weathered face. "But we sword cultivators needn’t fear! Remember – most top fighters in the Battle of Immortals and Demons wielded blades. A true swordsman’s strike becomes formless Immortal technique!"
Descending into the crater, Ye Yun conjured a flame in his palm. "What of the Demon Race?" he asked while examining the black battle blade.
"Sealed away long before my time," the Ancestor shrugged. "Recent generations focus on magic cultivation, likely imitating humans. Not that it matters – even if the Devil Race returns, those cowards won’t dare…"
"Don’t be certain," the Ancestor interrupted. "Know why Immortal Realm leaders sealed the demons? Not because humans are ‘naturally peaceful’!"
Ye Yun smirked. "Demons trick cultivators with illusions. Beyond that…" He extracted a wisp of energy from the blade and snorted. "Pathetic compared to true demon god energy from the Celestial-Demon battlefield."
"Of course! This blade’s residue can’t match pure demon god essence. But you’ll witness true demon behavior soon enough."
"Let them come." Ye Yun summoned a miniature black Ancient City. As dark radiance shot forth, a slender succubus girl materialized. The magic weapon in his hand wailed as he tightened his grip. The pink-haired youth stared hungrily at the blade, tongue darting across her lips.
*Crack!*
The black battle blade disintegrated under Ye Yun’s mental energy pressure. "Useless scrap," he muttered, redirecting the extracted demonic energy into the frail succubus.
She shuddered as vitality returned, then whispered, "Why save a Devil Race outcast? My tainted blood remains…"
"Rare luck finding an exiled succubus!" the Ancestor remarked.
"Exiled?" Ye Yun studied the cowering girl.
"Marked for death by the Devil Race. Normally this requires grave offense…" The Ancestor’s eyes narrowed. "Unless… that Heavenly Demon you killed was crucial? The Succubus Clan’s extermination suggests their demon king valued it highly."
The girl nodded timidly. "My clan’s demon god angered the ruler by causing the Heavenly Demon’s death during unsealing. The Demon King ordered our extermination. I alone escaped… until humans captured me."
Ye Yun massaged his temples. He’d intended simple repayment, not adopting a helpless succubus.
"Tsk! Wipe out a clan for one mistake, then abandon the survivor." The Ancestor’s chuckle held no mirth. "Typical demon cruelty. But this pup’s harmless – barely Golden Core stage. Couldn’t scratch you if she tried."
"Why champion her cause?" Ye Yun eyed his companion suspiciously.
"Merely balancing karma. Her clan stayed neutral in the Great War despite their… talents." The Ancestor’s gaze turned serious. "Keep her close. May prove useful against future demon threats."
Sighing, Ye Yun addressed the trembling succubus: "I’ll force nothing on you. But following me brings hardship. I’m careless by nature."
"Qing Li owes you her life." The girl snipped a lock of pink hair, weaving it into a veil with demonic energy. The covering dimmed her unnatural allure. "My clan is dead. I’ll… obey." Her blush deepened. "If you desire…"
"Enough!" Ye Yun cut her off, fighting sudden urges. "Stay near and keep that veil on. Your beauty causes… complications."
White light enveloped him as he rose. Time to rejoin Mo Tianxiao. Let the sect elder protest – Ye Yun would shield this demon girl himself if needed. The Immortal Dao Sect’s approval mattered little compared to his own code.
Unseen by either, Qing Li’s veil hid a small smile. Her rescuer’s pounding heartbeat had betrayed him completely.
