Chapter 755
by fanqienovelChapter 755: Ethereal Figure of the Heavenly Demon
As the ice crystal in Ye Yun’s hand dissolved into nothingness, the demonic energy in his eyes surged more violently than the infernal flames of the third layer, transforming into irreversible supreme demonic fire. Regaining control of this power, Ye Yun broke the seal the woman had placed on him, allowing the demon god to reemerge.
The cold bit into bones. The world froze entirely—yet even ice couldn’t preserve the traces of her existence. Ye Yun buried his grief. This unfair world had always forced partings through endless eras. No longer wasting words on pity, he stared coldly at the spatial gate before him. Behind him, a ten-thousand-zhang Demon Shadow knelt, shaking the earth as if heralding his return.
"This layer remains lacking." His parting words lingered as he stepped into the fifth layer. The frozen realm shattered behind him, dissolving into pure frost essence before vanishing into chaos.
"You’re a fearsome child. Give you another century, and you’d surpass us all. Had you our age, even the heavens might kneel." A hoarse voice spoke as Ye Yun faced the darkness. Ye Yun turned slightly, replying flatly, "Since when do Devil Race members respect humans?"
"I’ve always advocated peace between races. Ask this youngster beside me—he’s your human Heavenly Immortal, though his talent’s mediocre." The white-bearded elder sighed, stroking his chin.
"Human Heavenly Immortal?" Ye Yun’s gaze hardened at the slender figure emerging behind the elder. "Then why consort with demon gods?"
"Who are you to question me?!" The man bristled. "We celestials sacrificed everything for this continent! How dare you doubt me?"
"Guiltless men need no defense. Yet here you stand alongside demons—have you surrendered?" Ye Yun’s voice remained icy.
"The old man speaks truth. During the Battle of Immortals and Demons, he opposed the war and tried stopping it. Failed, of course. Ended up trapped here protecting humans. How could I kill him?" The man snorted.
Unmoved, Ye Yun let his Demon Shadow manifest fully, its towering form radiating terrifying power. "If you endorse this path, I’ll use your strength to destroy the Heavenly Demon."
"I care not. I awaited your arrival anyway. As for him…" The man shrugged. The elder paled upon hearing Ye Yun’s intent—then gasped as the man’s hand pierced his chest.
"Traitor! I did this for your race!" the elder choked.
"Then make your final contribution." The man grinned coldly, Soul Power erupting to shatter the elder’s body. Catching the soul fragments, he tossed them to Ye Yun. "When you face the Heavenly Demon, tell him: ‘I’ll smash that bastard. Bullying those beneath him—wait till I reach his level and beat him into calling me grandfather!’"
"The first part or the whole speech?" Ye Yun asked seriously.
"Just the first! I’ve slain three demon gods—more than enough. My wife… she wasn’t immortal. I stayed till her lifespan ended before coming here. Late, but honorable. Show respect, brat." The man’s smirk faded momentarily.
"My earlier disrespect… I apologize." Ye Yun dipped his head.
"Bah! I was called the Rogue Heavenly Immortal for worse deeds. But my final choice was right—slaughtering demons feels glorious!" The man chuckled. "You’re decent—better than weepy Xuelian. Not as good as her son, though. That boy fought demon gods in the Earth Immortal realm!"
"Was he born with a spiritual body?"
"Ninefold Chaotic Illusion Body—rarest I’ve seen. Died young to extend his mother’s life. A waste." The man clicked his tongue. "Had he lived, he’d rule the Immortal Realm now."
"Slaying three demon gods deserves remembrance."
"Forget it. Time I joined my foolish wife—she’s waited too long." Before Ye Yun could react, the man self-destructed, his soul exploding into dense energy. The Demon Shadow lunged to devour it—
"Stop!" Ye Yun roared.
The shadow whimpered, retreating. After a breath, Ye Yun turned away. "Consume it."
Greedily, the Demon Shadow absorbed the energy, swelling toward ten-thousand zhang. Freed from the celestials’ seals and his own demonic impulses, Ye Yun ascended to the sixth level.
"This layer commands respect." His murmur faded as the frozen world disintegrated behind him.
"Eons etch hearts; minds waver between demon and sage. Celestials vanish, demons remain." A mournful chant greeted Ye Yun. Before him twirled an enchanting figure—her dance surpassing mortal beauty.
Ye Yun immediately blinded himself. When her laughter rang out, he located her by sound alone.
"My dance stuns heavens, yet you ignore me?" Her voice dripped mock hurt.
"A flesh puppet. I spare you only because you’re powerless."
"Oh?" She materialized at his ear, breath warm. "Even the Heavenly Demon craves me yet dares not touch me. Feel nothing?"
"Kill her!" Ye Yun commanded.
The Demon Shadow swung its Thunder God Hammer—only for her pinky finger to halt the blow.
*Thud!*
"How?!" Ye Yun sensed her overwhelming aura. "What did you do to the celestials here? How’d you regain power?!"
"Ah, little man, don’t be angry. That Heavenly Immortal merely glanced at me and couldn’t resist being devoured. If you’d stared at my neck earlier, would you have lost control?" The woman clutched Ye Yun’s hand, whimpering, "If you’d look my way, I’d give you my first time. I know your human race values a maiden’s purity, yet I’ve truly never been touched. Aren’t you even slightly tempted?"
"Lucky I didn’t look either, or I’d have done something regrettable." Inside Ye Yun’s mind, the Ancestor of the Sword Path hastily shut his eyes upon first seeing the woman, chuckling, "Don’t gaze at her unless you wish to embrace your demonic side. One glance at this temptress, and you’ll surely fall."
"Just a seductive skeleton." Without hesitation, Ye Yun thrust the Purple Shadow Divine Sword toward her, but she blocked it effortlessly. Smiling at his ruthlessness, she purred, "No need to rush. I’ll be yours eventually. Open your eyes and behold my beauty properly."
"A rose that kills, perhaps." Ye Yun retreated, puzzled when she didn’t pursue. "Why not stop me?"
"Why bother? A man uninterested in me holds no interest. Besides, I loathe that Heavenly Demon. If you manage to kill him, I’d be grateful. But you’re too weak now."
"True. Without embracing my demonic side, I can’t match him." Halting his retreat, Ye Yun acknowledged her bluntness. Before he could speak, an intoxicating floral scent enveloped him. The sudden softness of her lips made him stagger back.
He meant to resist, but she’d already pulled away. Finding himself unharmed, he muttered awkwardly, "What was that?"
"Retribution. Since you scorned me, I’ll drag that wretch down even in death. My demonic energy is yours now." Her smile sweetened as she restored his vision, but she vanished before he could see her face, leaving only lingering fragrance.
"Why?" Ye Yun pondered her motives. Her hatred for the Heavenly Demon seemed fiercer than toward the Heavenly Immortals who’d sealed her.
"Tsk! The Ancestor witnessed your stolen kiss!" The Sword Ancestor sighed as Ye Yun wiped his lips. "Though I’d gladly trade places, the consequences would haunt me. Enjoy your luck, boy."
"Her gift felt genuine—whether whim or mischief matters not. That Heavenly Demon owes her thanks." Ye Yun dismissed his fleeting longing. Her beauty could command worlds, allowing her to act without restraint.
"Reaping benefits yet complaining!" The Sword Ancestor grumbled as a spatial gate materialized. "Go on. I’ll back you up."
"How predictably excessive." Ye Yun faced the gate. His looming Demon Shadow, having absorbed her power, swelled from ten thousand to a million zhang—a hundredfold growth.
"My apologies for this floor." Without further thought, Ye Yun channeled his Soul Power and stepped through.
"Nostalgia tastes bitter." Surveying the abyssal sea below, he stood atop a million demon god corpses, radiating celestial poise.
A primordial voice echoed as Ye Yun arrived: "This demon god’s vessel suits me. Well done, mortal."
"You’re the Heavenly Demon?" Ye Yun coldly observed the endless ocean—the demon’s true form.
"Witness my glory. Any last words?" Billions of whirlpools churned beneath him.
"Yes. Someone told me to kill you." Ye Yun grinned at the seething depths.
"Insolence!" Merged whirlpools surged to obliterate him. Ye Yun’s demon legion stomped, summoning tsunami waves that never reached him. "Show your true form," he called. "Let me see what defeated Masters of Slash Immortals and Nine Palaces."
"As you wish." The ocean coalesced into a million-zhang humanoid. "Without her power, you’d have died upon entering the Celestial Tower’s seventh level," Ye Yun realized, eyeing the darkening colossus.
"Did that fool give you my essence?" The Heavenly Demon sneered at Ye Yun’s familiar aura.
"She did. Your thoughts?"
"I’ll reclaim it by killing you. My essence isn’t for vermin."
"My intent mirrors yours. Why haunt the living if you’re already dead?"
"Humans are filth—failed creatures clinging to a dying age. The Demon Realm’s arrival cleanses this world."
"Stale rhetoric." Ye Yun’s demon god struck, shaking the titan. "Is this all?" he taunted.
The demon laughed. Ye Yun froze as his Earth Immortal realm energy and demonic might drained away.
"Mine cannot be stolen," the Heavenly Demon boomed, rejuvenating. "But for delivering this feast, I’ll spare you."
Ye Yun severed ties with his demon god, abandoning its waning power. "Wise retreat," the demon mocked. "The Celestial-Demon battlefield’s heroes would blush."
"Ancestor, farewell." A ghostly face materialized in Ye Yun’s grip. As the demon reverted to human size, Ye Yun smiled. "I always carry spare torches in darkness. Let’s reset."
"You dare?!" The Heavenly Demon roared, too late to stop Ye Yun donning the mask. Purple lightning ignited in his eyes.
"Die!"
