Chapter 679: Journey to the First Treasure

A golden streak flashed in the distance. Within moments, it released shockwaves that gently stunned the butterfly. As the creature stopped flapping its wings and fell, Golden Ling’er swiftly caught it. She glared toward the streak’s origin. "Senior Brother, practice somewhere else! You ruined the butterfly I worked so hard to find!"

"Apologies, Ling’er. I couldn’t resist." The golden streak retracted, revealing Jin An holding the golden Round Blade he’d purchased earlier. "I was helping you! Don’t mistake my kindness."

"Stop lying! You were just showing off!" Ling’er scoffed, reviving the butterfly with her true qi. Watching it flee, she added, "Did you name your top-quality Immortal artifact yet?"

"Round Blade. Simple and clear," Jin An replied.

Ling’er burst into laughter. "Good thing it’s not a supreme Immortal artifact! With that name, it’d never accept you as its master!"

"What’s wrong with it?" Jin An sighed, expecting praise but receiving mockery.

"Elder Ye’s artifact is called Purple Shadow Divine Sword. Even that man in black with Lanshan wields the Supreme Sword of Inquiry. Both names outshine yours," Ling’er teased.

"What about your bell? Don’t tell me it’s nameless," Jin An retorted.

"Of course not! I named it Ling Bell! It’s obviously mine!" Ling’er declared proudly.

"The three of you are equally terrible at naming," the Ancestor of the Sword Path interjected, smirking at Ye Yun. "Though the girl has a point. That Supreme Sword of Inquiry does have flair."

"You eavesdropped with mental intent again?" Ye Yun frowned.

"Does it matter? I heard it fair and square," the Ancestor replied smugly.

"Whatever pleases you," Ye Yun shrugged.

"Now, prepare for exciting news," the Ancestor said. "The Heavenly Remnant Nine-Colored Butterfly—a heavenly treasure worth over a hundred million top-tier spirit stones today!"

"That butterfly earlier? Why didn’t you speak up?!" Ye Yun whirled around, but it was gone. He took a deep breath.

"Capturing it harms your fortune. In the Xumi Treasure, luck is everything," the Ancestor explained.

    "Useless information," Ye Yun muttered.

"Just passing time," the Ancestor chuckled.

Meanwhile, Ling’er shook her golden bell, sending spiritual power rippling through the grassland. Exhausted, she collapsed. "I’m spent!"

"One shake tired you out? Master will lock you in the dark room if he hears this," Jin An warned.

"Don’t tell him! I’ll cook for you!" Ling’er pleaded.

"Only escaping punishment if you reach the Nascent Soul stage’s second layer," Jin An said sternly.

"No! That’s torture!" Ling’er hid behind Ye Yun.

"Enough jokes," Jin An relented, noting her genuine fatigue.

Ling’er retrieved a hair ornament from the grass. "I keep this because Father never bought me trinkets—not because you gave it!" she lied, cheeks flushed.

Jin An smiled. Despite her laziness, he cherished her like a sister. "Focus on training…"

    Ling’er groaned.

Later, the Ancestor asked Ye Yun, "Thoughts on ‘Born as a Sword’?"

"Powerful but drains true qi. My Fire Dragon Whip and Sea of Heavenly Fire array consume all my Fire Spirit Qi. The Thundercloud Lightning Sword’s fourth layer needs a life-death crisis to advance," Ye Yun explained.

He pondered his precarious situation: dangers in the Xumi Treasure’s first layer, plus rivals like Du Jianyin—a reincarnated Ancient Sword Intent cultivator. If they clashed, only one would survive.

"I’ll hide among others, strike when the Moon Goddess Palace secures treasures," Ye Yun decided.

"Risky, but doable," the Ancestor acknowledged.

"Time to move," Ye Yun announced.

"Finally!" Ling’er clung to him. "Senior, Jin An bullies me!"

"Keep complaining, and I’ll force you to break through!" Jin An threatened.

    "No! That’s agony!" Ling’er hid.

Ye Yun enveloped them in white light, activating spatial laws. They vanished. Moments later, the butterfly fluttered back, undisturbed.
