Chapter 624: The Ice Dragon as a Pillar

A violent coldness surged toward Ye Yun, a hundred times fiercer than before. This icy essence surpassed even the coldness from other floors of the Ice Tower and overshadowed Ice Master’s chilling power. It was true, overwhelming coldness capable of freezing heaven and earth.

Ye Yun knew instantly he couldn’t withstand this coldness before it even touched him—it exceeded his limits.

He inhaled sharply and retreated rapidly. Even his robust physique would suffer severe injuries or death if grazed by this coldness.

But the icy essence moved impossibly fast. The spatial collapse’s energy amplified its speed, making evasion nearly hopeless.

Ye Yun rolled sideways as the cold aura brushed past him. His body turned rigid, as if frozen solid.

A mere glancing touch nearly paralyzed him. What would happen if struck directly? He shuddered at the thought.

Circulating his true qi within him, Ye Yun dispelled the near-freezing coldness. Fear prickled his spine—the Ice Tower truly wasn’t for the unprepared. One misstep meant death and disappearance of the spirit.

His gaze shifted toward where Master Hei Xu’s group had gone. If that cold aura struck them, how many would survive?

Likely only experts like Master Hei Xu. Others would freeze instantly, perishing without trace.

As this thought crossed his mind, agonized screams erupted in the distance.

Ye Yun looked up to see the void suddenly crumple and shatter. Ice dragons of coldness roared into the sky, coiling like living pillars.

He glanced at the spatial node beside him—the spot he and Ancestor of the Sword Path had sensed earlier. Their unique connection had breached the space, releasing the icy torrent.

What had Master Hei Xu’s group triggered? Their ice dragons dwarfed Ye Yun’s encounter, each as thick as ancient trees.

The dragons circled menacingly above, their movements churning the air. Below, cultivators’ cries echoed as ice encased and shattered them.

    "Damned beasts!"

A thunderous roar split the sky. A black ribbon lashed out, transforming into countless whip shadows that obliterated the ice dragons. Shards glittered under sunlight, icy light scattering everywhere.

Ye Yun’s eyes narrowed. Master Hei Xu’s Xuan Yuan Devil Whip held unimaginable power—shattering dozens of ice dragons in one strike. What cultivation level could achieve this?

"Master Hei Xu must be a descendant of the Devil Race," Ancestor of the Sword Path’s voice rang out. "That strike surpassed the pinnacle of the Nascent Soul stage. Only Devil Race blood could unleash the whip’s true might."

Ye Yun frowned. If Master Hei Xu wielded such power openly, either he feared nothing or cared nothing. The former possibility chilled Ye Yun—how many Devil descendants lurked in the world?

"That Huo Lie from my memories," the Ancestor mused, "was likely no Demon Race elder but a Devil descendant hiding among them. Otherwise, sealing my soul would’ve been impossible."

"Old man," Ye Yun asked, "what was your true power? I suspect you surpassed even Earth Immortal realm saints."

The Ancestor paused. "My memories lack details. Yet the Nascent Soul stage’s pinnacle feels trivial. I may have been an Earth Immortal realm saint."

Ye Yun recalled the Ancestor’s manifestation—a black-clad youth exuding wickedness. "Your demeanor clashes with that visage. Is your personality fragmented in this soul sliver?"

"Who knows?" The Ancestor snorted. "Focus! After the cold surge, my connection to that spatial node intensifies. Something vital to me lies within."

Ye Yun studied the fist-sized black void where coldness had erupted. It remained unhealed.

He punched it, channeling Ice Spirit Qi linked to Ice Master.

*Whoosh!* The energy dissipated without effect. Two more punches yielded nothing.

Switching tactics, Ye Yun summoned purple lightning. Thunder Spirit Qi blasted into the void—only to vanish silently.

"Persistent thing!" He unleashed everything—Ice, Thunder, Fire Spirit Qi, even sword intent. Lights flashed, thunder boomed, yet the void remained untouched.

Baffled, Ye Yun frowned. Finding the node should’ve been the hard part. How had Master Hei Xu’s group located theirs?

    Suddenly, lightning struck his mind.

*Spatial laws fused with other laws—that’s the key!*

A grin spread across Ye Yun’s face.
