Chapter 153: Wearing Down the Enemy
by karlmaksJust then, Fu Tianhua suddenly screamed. Already suppressed by Gong Xiao, and with Luo Jun joining the fray, he was overwhelmed. A slight lapse in defense allowed Gong Xiao’s spikes to pierce his body. The attached Venom Fire instantly burned hole after hole in his torso.
Amidst his agony, he was struck by Luo Jun’s launched finger bones. “Bone Augmentation” activated. Fu Tianhua was internally destroyed by the expanding bone and exploded into a bloody mist.
With Fu Tianhua’s death, Luo Jun harvested a Spiritual Source. He suddenly gasped, having finally broken through and advanced to Level 6.
The moment Fu Tianhua died, the white light in Gao Shupeng’s hands suddenly vanished.
Gao Shupeng immediately extended his hands. His fingernails elongated and became translucent, ready to fire at the rapidly approaching Su Li.
“Bone Augmentation,” the ability of Luo Jun.
Su Li activated “Spider Walk,” dodging the attack. He said, “I see. Your ability is to replicate the abilities of those around you. But you can only replicate four abilities at once, and once one is replicated, you can’t change it for a short time, unless the person dies.”
This was the only way to explain why Gao Shupeng had only demonstrated four abilities: “Obsidian Body,” “Demon Muscles,” “Spider Walk,” and Fu Tianhua’s white light.
It wasn’t until Fu Tianhua died that he lost the white light ability and could finally replicate Luo Jun’s “Bone Augmentation.”
Clearly, his replication ability had limits, such as only being able to replicate the core abilities, not the effects of basic enhancements. If it had no limits, he would be truly invincible.
Of course, even with only four replicated abilities, his power was terrifying. However, he didn’t understand the limitations of Su Li’s “Demon Muscles” and believed he could sustain the state without stamina depletion. By the time he realized his energy was draining, it was too late.
As his stamina depleted, his abilities declined significantly. Su Li could now easily dodge the “Bone Augmentation” he fired. Su Li circled behind him and brought his fists together, striking his ear area.
Gao Shupeng roared. He was prepared and fired “Bone Augmentation” backward, but Su Li was faster. The punch was only a feint. Su Li blurred forward, appearing in front of him, and struck his chest again.
This was another heavy blow. This time, Gao Shupeng couldn’t dodge. He screamed, spitting more blood.
Almost instantly, Song Yuanqing moved. His body blurred, and he sprinted away, trying to escape.
He knew the battle was lost.
He had initially been confident in Gao Shupeng because he knew about his replication ability. He knew the ability was monstrous; replicating the Spiritual Source Techniques of four people made one incredibly powerful.
Because of this power, the dozens of people in “Gold Eagle One A-Building,” despite having strong individuals, dared not defy him.
But now, he saw Gao Shupeng being brutally suppressed by Su Li. He thought the loss was temporary, hoping Gao Shupeng had a way to turn the tide.
When he saw Gao Shupeng spitting blood and Fu Tianhua killed, he knew all hope was gone. He didn’t hesitate, immediately turning and charging toward the edge of the floating island.
He knew he had the blade-proof “Obsidian Body” and completely ignored the man who was chasing him from behind. He accelerated his sprint, believing that if he stopped to fight, he would be surrounded and have no chance of escaping.
The person who suddenly attacked him was Su Li.
Su Li, moving in “Spider Walk,” was faster than Song Yuanqing. He instantly closed the distance to the fleeing man and grabbed his neck from behind.
Song Yuanqing felt choked and knew he was in trouble. He tried to fight back, but Su Li, holding his neck, used an over-the-shoulder throw, slamming Song Yuanqing onto the ground.
Song Yuanqing was thrown violently, completely disoriented. When he got up, he was surrounded by a circle of people.
Gong Xiao, Xu Haishui, Luo Jun, Jin Sixing, Bai Wenwei, Ling Tian, and Wang Xiaofei. Only he and Gao Shupeng remained alive from their group; the rest had been killed.
Seven people surrounded Song Yuanqing. Despite his “Obsidian Body,” he was terrified. Su Li, meanwhile, was again charging Gao Shupeng, striking his caved-in chest.
Even if the enemy had a blade-proof “Obsidian Body,” he would bludgeon them to death.
Gao Shupeng was filled with regret. He regretted his mistake. He could replicate four abilities and believed he was superior to Su Li, but he shouldn’t have replicated the damned “Demon Muscles.” He then foolishly engaged in a clash of pure power with Su Li using the same ability.
He thought that if he had copied Luo Jun’s “Bone Augmentation” ability instead and hadn’t clashed with Su Li, he could have easily defeated him. With his “Obsidian Body” and “Spider Walk,” he could have outmaneuvered Su Li. Stamina exhaustion would have doomed Su Li first, as “Demon Muscles” was a severe stamina drain.
But that’s just what he thinks. In reality, without the double power boost from “Demon Muscles,” Su Li’s strength and speed would have completely overwhelmed him, and he would have lost much faster.
“I hate you—” Gao Shupeng glared at Su Li, roaring in agony and resentment.
Su Li smiled faintly. “You copy my ability? You can’t afford my ability!”
Su Li’s fist slammed into his chest again.
With a “thud,” Gao Shupeng’s chest completely caved in. He spurted blood and fragmented pieces of flesh—his shattered internal organs.
His eyes, nose, and ears were all bleeding. Even with the protection of “Obsidian Body,” he couldn’t hold up. The bones in his chest were utterly pulverized.
Su Li was breathing heavily. His stamina was also running out. The “Demon Muscles” state was powerful, but it was a severe stamina drain. Using the ability made him vulnerable in long battles. Gao Shupeng’s ability was terrifying, but he was defeated because he used “Demon Muscles,” allowing Su Li to wear him down.
Gao Shupeng’s replication ability was formidable. He had “Obsidian Body” for defense, “Spider Walk” for speed, “White Light” for explosive attacks, and he could have chosen a fourth ability like Luo Jun’s “Bone Augmentation” or Gong Xiao’s “Storm Shield.” Four powerful abilities combined would seem invincible.
Unfortunately, the replication had flaws. It couldn’t perfectly replicate the basic enhancements of the opponent. The opponent’s fundamental strength remained a factor. Facing an ordinary opponent, his replication would make him terrifying, but facing a true master, the replication’s inherent flaw was exposed.
His internal organs were shredded, and his chest bones were completely broken. Gao Shupeng continued to spurt blood, his strength gone. He glared at Su Li, his eyes wide with venom and endless hatred.
Su Li completely ignored his gaze and slammed his fist down again onto Gao Shupeng’s ruined chest.
With a “thud,” his skin rapidly turned pale. He could no longer maintain the “Obsidian Body” ability.
With a “plop,” blood exploded. The punch tore through Gao Shupeng’s chest.
Without the protection of “Obsidian Body,” Gao Shupeng became extremely vulnerable. Su Li’s punch almost broke his body in half.
Struck by the fatal blow, Gao Shupeng’s eyes rolled back. He made gurgling sounds, like a deflated balloon.
Su Li pulled his blood-soaked fist out of Gao Shupeng’s chest. His internal organs were a mass of pulp.
Gao Shupeng, the leader of “Gold Eagle One A-Building,” finally breathed his last. Despite his hatred and unwillingness, he died. Everything in this world was no longer his concern.
Su Li stood up. A message appeared in his mind.
“Level 6 Spiritual Source Wielder: Spiritual Source 27/90”
Having finally killed Gao Shupeng, Su Li let out a long sigh of relief and slowly sat down on the ground.
He had been pushing himself to his limits. In reality, he was utterly exhausted.
Although he had worn down Gao Shupeng to death with “Demon Muscles,” his stamina was also completely spent. He could barely lift his arm. The muscles on his right arm were constantly twitching.
The enemy had only one person left: Song Yuanqing. Besieged by seven people, he couldn’t last long. He didn’t have Su Li’s strength or the devastating “Dragon Rhino Slash” to cause massive casualties.
Although he had “Obsidian Body,” which made him blade-proof, he couldn’t withstand repeated attacks from seven people.
Activating a “Spiritual Source Technique” accelerated stamina depletion. Although his “Obsidian Body” wasn’t as draining as Su Li’s “Demon Muscles,” he still couldn’t fight indefinitely.
Gong Xiao, Xu Haishui, and Luo Jun used a relay attack, quickly overwhelming Song Yuanqing. He was drenched in sweat, exhausted, and his skin color constantly fluctuated, showing that his “Obsidian Body” was failing.
Su Li silently sat by Gao Shupeng’s corpse, watching the fight. He knew Song Yuanqing was a spent force. The only question was who would deliver the final blow.
“We are all compatriots! Give me a chance! I’m willing to join you—” Song Yuanqing realized he couldn’t hold up. Seeing no hope for escape, he suddenly surrendered, begging to join them.
Hearing his surrender, the others paused. Xu Haishui couldn’t help but look at the sitting Su Li.
In his mind, Su Li was the true leader of the Purple Wind Building. This decision required his approval.
Su Li slowly stood up. The others stopped attacking, but continued to surround Song Yuanqing.
“Believe me, I sincerely want to join you.” Song Yuanqing’s face was pleading and sincere.
