Chapter 122: Limb Regeneration
by karlmaks“Level 5 Spiritual Source Wielder: Spiritual Source 18/70”
Killing Li Wei yielded three Spiritual Sources.
Tao Bingjun, sitting on the steps with the lit candle, abruptly lost his smile. Sun Wenbo and Wang Zhensheng, standing in front of him, acted almost simultaneously.
Sun Wenbo clawed the air with both hands. From the wound on Li Wei’s corpse, the blood that had been flowing out suddenly surged like a fountain. This large volume of blood hovered in the air, instantly splitting into individual spheres of blood. The spheres elongated, transforming into sharp spears of blood that shot toward Su Li’s entire body.
“This guy’s ability is to control blood?” Su Li’s heart jolted. He remembered Xu Haishui saying Sun Wenbo’s ability was blood-related. Now he understood.
The corridor was not an open space. His “Spider Walk” couldn’t be used to its full potential, and if he dodged, Xu Haishui, Ding Longyun, and Xu Xuehui behind him would be struck by the blood spears.
Suddenly, someone rushed past him. It was Gong Xiao. She charged directly at Sun Wenbo, confronting the blood spears.
Three whirlwinds rose around her body. They rotated around her, revealing the faint silhouette of giant shields—her Spiritual Source Technique, “Storm Shield.”
The three whirlwinds formed semi-transparent, giant shields that rotated around her. Hissing sounds continuously erupted as the blood spears Sun Wenbo controlled were all blocked by the three rotating Storm Shields.
The blood spears continuously struck the Storm Shields, emitting a grating sound. Both sides were unleashing the full power of their Spiritual Source Techniques.
Suddenly, Li Wei’s corpse floated up. It was drawn into Gong Xiao’s “Storm Shield,” compressed and distorted by an invisible force, quickly forming one of the flesh-and-blood shields.
Gong Xiao controlled this flesh-and-blood shield and slammed it toward Sun Wenbo.
Wang Zhensheng, the disheveled man, attacked almost simultaneously with Sun Wenbo. He leaped forward, arms spread, pouncing on Su Li.
In Su Li’s eyes, Wang Zhensheng’s attack was full of openings. Facing his Dragon Rhino Sword, which cut metal like mud, Wang Zhensheng’s pounce was suicide.
Although he was suspicious of Wang Zhensheng’s motive, Su Li swung his Dragon Rhino Sword, but held back some of his power in case Wang Zhensheng had a trick up his sleeve. If the situation changed, he could instantly retract his sword and activate “Spider Walk” to retreat.
He swung the sword at Wang Zhensheng’s neck. Wang Zhensheng quickly tucked his head down and raised his right arm to block.
“Does this guy’s arm resist blades?” Su Li immediately thought of Chen Xiangyu’s “Steel Skin” Spiritual Source Technique. He guessed Wang Zhensheng had a similar ability to dare block his Dragon Rhino Sword with a bare arm.
The Dragon Rhino Sword sliced across Wang Zhensheng’s right arm. Wang Zhensheng screamed. His right arm was instantly severed and dropped to the ground.
“What?” The result utterly surprised Su Li. He couldn’t believe he had severed Wang Zhensheng’s arm so easily.
But he quickly realized something was wrong. The screaming Wang Zhensheng raised his severed arm, and a new one grew out, visible to the naked eye, instantly replacing the lost limb.
The severed arm on the ground suddenly flew up and rushed toward him.
This ability was quite bizarre.
Su Li frowned slightly and swayed to avoid the flying arm. The severed arm missed, turning in mid-air to chase him again, while the arm-regenerated Wang Zhensheng lunged from the other side.
The six men blocking the rear rushed forward, shouting curses.
A fierce battle instantly erupted in the long corridor.
Fighting in this narrow space was extremely perilous. Su Li’s “Spider Walk” was severely restricted and hard to use.
“Sun Wenbo, go easy on her! Just wound her severely, don’t kill her,” Tao Bingjun instructed Sun Wenbo, fearing that Sun Wenbo would get carried away and kill Gong Xiao in the heat of the fight.
The six men surged forward, and Ding Longyun and Xu Haishui turned to block them.
Ding Longyun opened his mouth and spat an “Air Missile.” However, the combatants were too close. If the Air Missile struck the main group, it would affect his own allies. Ding Longyun aimed his Air Missile at the wall behind the advancing men.
With a huge “BOOM,” the wall exploded, leaving a large hole. Bricks and stones flew everywhere, startling the six men. They didn’t understand why Ding Longyun was attacking the wall behind them.
Ding Longyun’s idea was to blast a hole in the corridor wall so that if the situation turned dire, they could escape through the hole. Outside was the boundless water, and with his swimming ability, he feared nothing once he was in the water.
Xu Haishui, gripping his short spear, focused his attention. Flames erupted on his right hand. The flames spread, quickly enveloping his right arm and the spear. The fire then extended across his body, turning him into a literal man of fire.
Xu Haishui, covered in flames, charged forward aggressively.
Su Li’s single strike had slain Li Wei, giving Xu Haishui renewed hope. Courage surged within him, and he wanted to fight his way out.
With a “CRASH,” a burly man from the group of six rushed forward. This man’s muscles were swollen like an iron tower. He collided with Xu Haishui.
The flames covering Xu Haishui failed to harm him. The man’s immense strength, however, rebounded Xu Haishui back.
This iron-tower-like brute was a Level 5 Spiritual Source Wielder who had mastered a powerful Spiritual Source Technique. His body was as hard as steel, rendering Xu Haishui’s fire ineffective.
The brute body checked Xu Haishui and then took a massive stride forward, his giant hands reaching out to grab the fallen Xu Haishui. Suddenly, he stared into a pair of eyes.
The eyes looked sunken, like black holes, threatening to pull his soul inside.
The brute froze instantly, rooted to the spot, along with two other men who had charged with him. The others behind them were blocked and couldn’t rush forward.
Ding Longyun’s heart leaped. He realized this was Xu Xuehui’s “Aberrant Eye Technique.”
The men struck by the “Aberrant Eye Technique” were instantly paralyzed, as if their souls had left their bodies. They were utterly motionless for a brief moment.
Recognizing the opportunity, Ding Longyun blurred forward and reached the brute’s rear. He gripped his steel rod with both hands and stabbed it violently into the brute’s rear.
He had seen that the brute was like steel and feared no fire, similar to Chen Xiangyu. He figured the only way to crack the steel body was to replicate Xu Haishui’s method of killing Chen Xiangyu.
The steel rod plunged in a small distance. The brute instantly woke up with a pig-like shriek. He spun around, his right arm slamming into Ding Longyun’s face.
Ding Longyun groaned. Blood and tears erupted from his face. He was sent flying backward. As he was knocked away, he yanked the steel rod out, causing the brute to shriek in agony again. The brute’s entire body convulsed from the pain and he stumbled and fell.
The men following the brute woke up, saw the brute’s horrific state, and saw the blood soaking his pants. They instinctively flinched.
Su Li had severed Wang Zhensheng’s right arm, but the limb instantly regenerated. What was more terrifying was that the severed arm flew up and circled in the air, locking onto him and chasing him.
Since he couldn’t dodge, Su Li brought the Dragon Rhino Sword down on the pursuing arm.
The Dragon Rhino Sword struck the severed arm. With a loud “BOOM,” the arm exploded, sending flesh and shattered bone flying everywhere.
Su Li groaned. The blast of air sent him crashing into the wall. Blood seeped from his mouth, and his chest was peppered with small puncture wounds—bone fragments from the explosion that had penetrated his muscle.
He had instantly engaged his muscle defense state, which barely managed to withstand the blast. Otherwise, the explosion would have severely wounded him.
“Heh heh—” Wang Zhensheng laughed wildly like a madman. He lunged from the other side, utterly fearless of the Dragon Rhino Sword. In fact, he seemed to wish Su Li would cleave him again.
Su Li was badly wounded, but the Spiritual Source he had just absorbed from killing Li Wei was working its healing magic. His muscles seemed to come alive. He used the power of his muscles to squeeze the bone fragments from the wound.
He looked at the wildly pouncing Wang Zhensheng, already knowing his ability.
The guy had the power of Regeneration and his severed limbs turned into a flesh-and-blood bomb that could continuously attack his enemies under his control.
The more injured he was, the more severed limbs he produced, and the more powerful the explosion would be.
However, he was not truly immortal. His head could not be severed.
Su Li had aimed for his head before, and Wang Zhensheng blocked it with his right arm. This confirmed that his head was the fatal weakness, and once severed, he could not regenerate.
His mind spinning, Su Li faced the pouncing Wang Zhensheng. He activated “Spider Walk.” Although the corridor was narrow, he still managed to move and dodge in the confined space, evading Wang Zhensheng’s arms. The Dragon Rhino Sword in his right hand precisely sliced across Wang Zhensheng’s neck, severing his head.
Although the man’s ability was bizarre and terrifying, his speed was not fast, especially compared to Su Li in his “Spider Walk” state. For Su Li, his speed was slow.
