Chapter 511: Dao Partner Yang Jiuzhen

Li Hui couldn’t stop smiling as the ancestor from the Golden Luan brought him a piece of Illusory Dragon Wonderwood. This wood was as thick as an adult’s thigh and resembled a golden dragon lying down. With this piece of wood, all the talismans within the Green Emperor Yuanhong Vine could be transformed into true demon talismans, significantly increasing their effectiveness! After much bargaining, he drew out a large portion of worm eggs and offered several spiritual treasures that interested the Golden Luan before finally acquiring the Illusory Dragon Wonderwood.

"With nothing left to trade, I can begin my journey home," Li Hui said as he prepared to leave, but suddenly, a massive Golden Luan arrived, clutching a tiger-striped white palm stone, a Heavenly Treasure perfect for refining the Ideal Body.

Li Hui smiled wryly, "Selling this huge chunk of tiger-striped white palm stone is going to take everything I’ve got."

It’s time to pull out items! He decided to keep some worm eggs for the chicks, compressing the rest down to a small amount. He then laid out whatever else he had, letting the Golden Luan pick what it wanted, but the bird shook its head vigorously, claiming it was being cheated.

“Even birds are getting savvy with business these days!” the little ball replied in frustration.

There was no choice; Old Li had emphasized not to play tricks with the Golden Luan in their bartering. Good items are just that—good items, and the Golden Luan understood this principle. If one tried to use clever tactics, they’d likely miss a golden opportunity.

In other words, minor advantages were acceptable, but aiming for major gains was unrealistic.

Li Hui produced ten storage talismans and stepped back a dozen paces. Suddenly, he heard "puff puff" sounds as the storage talismans released numerous carefully selected treasures, including bells and drums as well as various weapons.

The Golden Luan’s eyes lit up; it adored the weapons of Dao soldiers, as Old Li had clearly instructed regarding their preferences, so they catered to the bird’s taste.

    "Chirp chirp!"

Bai Ze communicated with the Golden Luan. Li Hui then added three more storage talismans, and combined with the earlier assorted items, managed to satisfy the Golden Luan’s appetite.

"Hurry and leave this place! If we don’t, I fear I might be turned into a meal for the Golden Luan," Li Hui said, slapping his forehead. He knew he had likely lost out in trading for the tiger-striped white palm stone, but he needed it. There was no alternative left, even if it meant selling everything.

The Golden Luan and Bai Ze flapped their wings to bid farewell, perhaps indicating their pleasure with the trade and to come prepared next time.

As Li Hui began his journey back, he sat atop the bull’s back, practicing his cultivation. The first three days went smoothly, but by the fourth day, his spiritual sense stirred.

Suddenly, a deafening boom resonated through the air as a blinding light shot across the sky, crashing into the nearby forest. The resulting shockwave sent trees toppling, and orange flames danced eagerly among the branches, turning towering ancient trees into ash in an instant.

“What fierce heavenly fire!” Li Hui marveled, eyes widening in surprise. “Is it her? No, there are two of them—Ren Jiufeng and Yang Jiuzhen. The methods of the world are truly remarkable; they somehow fought as one. This is entirely different from my fusion with the Long-browed Fiery Monkey, as there is a fundamental difference.”

Moments later, the azure bull trotted onto the scorched earth.

The orange flames rushed over, but Li Hui gently waved the Cloud-Brush Dragon Claw Technique, swallowing the flames entirely and preventing a massive fire disaster.

In the center of the burned ground lay a tall woman, towering above normal men by a head or two, her clothes shredded and blood pouring from her neck.

“That’s a severe injury!” Li Hui frowned as he assessed the situation.

He had plenty of expired medicinal pills on hand, but lacked any effective healing elixirs. The Mysterious Pearl wouldn’t be produced in the short term, so he resorted to using some human-shaped He Shou Wu intended for cattle to provide immediate aid.

He squeezed juice from the human-shaped He Shou Wu, letting it drip slowly onto the tall woman’s lips. It was uncertain if her consciousness was influenced by Ren Jiufeng or her junior sister, but perhaps the woman felt thirsty, as she opened her mouth and sucked vigorously.

"Jiuzhen! Yang Jiuzhen!" Li Hui recalled other matters and remembered that Old Li, in the Kunpeng decree, had mentioned a lifelong promise with Yang Jiuzhen. But the time they spent together was barely two years before she had died in battle for the Heavenly Hero Sect. Old Li never took another partner after her.

    “Dao partner!”

Li Hui felt a severe headache; Yang Jiuzhen was entirely foreign to him. They would only truly be together a hundred years later, and there was no mention that Yang Jiuzhen and her senior sister would encounter danger in the Golden Luan Great Thousand Cave.

“I have repelled Dai Qingtian and his companions and sent Tan Tiandi and the other cultivators away. Many things have already changed drastically! Old Li’s notes may no longer hold true!”

The tall woman let out a soft “whimper” as she opened her eyes and recognized Li Hui, coughing up blood, “Leave quickly! That Law Hwa Sect disciple Xiang Chitian kills anyone he sees!”

Li Hui gently swept the woman onto the bull’s back, while the azure bull stepped into the rising storm and hurried away.

Suddenly, he sensed a violent killing intent from afar.

Li Hui’s heart sank; he quickly pointed at the azure bull’s head, igniting the Small Reincarnation Talisman stuck to Qing’er’s forehead.

“Moo moo…” The azure bull’s hooves trailed smoke, and six horns on its head lit up one after another as it surged forward under the Tai Chi light wheel, dashing out with incredible speed without requiring its master’s urging.

“Who dares to snatch the quarry of this Dao disciple? This demon bull isn’t bad; I can take it back for my disciples to train with.”

Just then, the red light arrived fiercely.

With a “boom,” a strand of sword aura cleaved down from the sky, refined to an unbelievable extent, resembling a heavenly sword of judgment!

“A formidable foe!” Li Hui’s gaze suddenly turned cold as he lifted his right arm and violently swung a punch.

With that single punch, all the air vanished from the ground, creating a swirling vortex that collided upwards. Terrifying explosions erupted in his ears as the punch unleashed Nine Heavenly Thunders, shattering the heavenly sword with force.

"Eh? Which sect are you from? Your body cultivation is quite good, and your talisman methods are impressive,” Xiang Chitian laughed heartily. “Good! Finally, I’ve encountered an interesting opponent; those two girls can only compete against me when they fuse.”

Li Hui reached into the Kunpeng decree and, in an instant, drained all the treasures he had left, regardless of whether they were usable or damaged, pouring all accumulated talisman power into the silver snake.

At that moment, a man descended from the sky.

His crimson hair hung to his waist, with purple eyebrows and a height above the average. He wore the Swallow the Heavens Golden Dragon armor and stood atop purple-gold war boots, green ribbons swirling around his arms, with an ornate silver circle suspended behind his head.

Li Hui soared into the air, carefully storing the azure bull and Jiuzhen within the Kunpeng decree, hiding them well as he prepared to face his formidable enemy.

“Ha ha ha! I remembered! You are one of the individuals on the wanted list issued by the Nine-Mystic Continent. Although I don’t care about the reward, I certainly wish to see the extent to which you have refined the treasure cabinet," Xiang Chitian said, his fists pounding together. Suddenly, a thunderous roar sounded behind him, followed by flames swirling around to reveal an enormous three-zhang-long giant sword.

"Don’t hide it; you’re stealing the luck of others, and you carry the lives of dozens in your grasp. They are all talents from their respective continents. Is this your secret to becoming a Dao disciple?” Li Hui’s eyes grew colder, his features beginning to shift with demonic patterns, three parts demonic and seven parts Dao.

“Balancing the heart of Dao with the demonic heart?” Xiang Chitian scoffed in a cold sneer, showing a lack of respect. “The trivialities of cultivating the heart of Dao into demons can’t possibly withstand my evil corpse! Severing dark thoughts, severing good thoughts, severing attachments—this is the method of slaying the three corpses. To sow great seeds is to reap great rewards; the heart of Dao and the demonic heart can only be categorized into attachments!”

“Boom…” The sword moved, soaring toward the heavens, bursting with killing intent.
