Chapter 14 The Campus Heartthrob Starts Chasing
by Qurit.“It’s okay.”
Su Niansheng shook her head.
This was between her and Lin Yixuan—no need to put them in a tough spot.
“Niansheng, do you forgive us?”
“Niansheng, you’re too generous!”
The two crowded around happily, chattering nonstop.
“Niansheng, I feel like you’ve changed lately.”
“Yeah, such a big change!”
“Really?” Su Niansheng took a bite of ice cream. “What changed?”
She worried there might still be lingering depression from her past life—even if she couldn’t feel it, others could. But Xu Yue and Zhao Menghan gave totally different answers.
“You’ve become more dazzling!”
She’d always been eye-catching, but like an expensive vase—beautiful but soulless, lifeless. All she did was chase Shiyu Bai every day, like a tail he couldn’t shake, even outsiders found it annoying.
Now, she shone like a star, radiating light endlessly—dazzling and captivating.
Like today, cheering for Shen Shao on the soccer field in a JK skirt, holding a banner, smile bright and bold.
Like last time, on the singing competition stage—beautiful, elegant, glowing with vibrant energy from within.
“By the way, Niansheng—Yixuan said the mic didn’t malfunction at the finals, that you did it on purpose. We don’t believe that—you’re not like that…”
“I did it on purpose.”
Su Niansheng admitted suddenly.
Xu Yue and Zhao Menghan froze.
After a few seconds, they laughed awkwardly. “It’s okay if you did—you’re the original singer anyway.”
The dorm atmosphere grew awkward. The two didn’t dare ask further—most curious about how she knew Shen Shao. They returned to their seats.
Su Niansheng didn’t continue the topic, biting her ice cream, thinking about how to go home.
Dengxing Building.
Elective course: “Craftsmanship and Special Practices.”
Su Niansheng entered the classroom with her backpack, saw her “frenemy” deskmate Fang Yan, and they smiled at each other.
“What a coincidence—we got the same class?”
“I missed course selection last year due to illness, so the system auto-assigned me to this obscure elective. Why you?”
Why else?
Because she’d been so fixated on Shiyu Bai, ignoring her studies—her credits were way behind, graduation was at risk.
So she frantically took electives to make up credits. But it was too late—all popular, high-credit courses were gone, leaving only this niche one with thirty or forty people in a huge lecture hall.
“Alright.”
Fang Yan read her expression, knowing what was up.
“Again because of the campus heartthrob…heartthrob?”
Her voice faltered.
A white figure appeared at the door. The boy, holding books, tall and aloof, walked in—causing a stir.
“Shiyu Bai? Why is he here?”
“Aren’t all of us here to make up credits? But he’s Finance’s top student, student council president—his credits should be maxed out ages ago.”
“Maybe he’s interested in the course content?”
“More likely he’s interested in Su Niansheng—look, the campus belle is right there.”
“Oh, maybe Su Niansheng’s persistence paid off?”
“Shh shh shh!”
Fang Yan’s mouth dropped open, patting Su Niansheng excitedly.
“Look who’s here!”
Su Niansheng looked up, stunned to see Shiyu Bai.
Why is he here?
With his grades, professors of popular high-credit courses fight over him—why take this niche class?
Puzzled, Shiyu Bai stopped, looking down at the lecture hall. Their eyes met—one, two, three seconds…He stared so long, Su Niansheng frowned.
In her memory, during the years she chased him, he never looked at her directly. Now he stared—did he think she was still clinging to him, so he took the same class on purpose?
Hmph.
She guessed he’d turn and leave without hesitation.
Unexpectedly, the next second, he walked down the steps and sat right in front of her.
“?”
“Oh my, what’s this? So many empty seats, yet he sits right in front of you?”
Fang Yan’s gossip meter spiked, shooting her meaningful looks.
Su Niansheng’s brows furrowed deeper.
She had no idea.
Maybe he’d reached the point of ignoring her like air.
Which suited her just fine.
“Wow, you’re gracing us with your presence today?”
The elective teacher entered, delighted to see the school’s recent celebrities—the most beautiful girl and one of the top guys.
“Pass out these materials. Today we’ll build models. Everyone gets a blind box of model parts—shapes vary. Finish and submit in an hour and a half without instructions. It’s part of your grade. Feel free to help each other—foster teamwork.”
“What is this? So many parts, I can’t even tell what it is, let alone build it.”
Fang Yan opened her blind box, overwhelmed.
Su Niansheng also couldn’t tell what her model was, but luckily she had half as many parts as Fang Yan.
“Good thing there’s a top student today—we can ask him anything!”
Fang Yan winked at her, hinting she could use this to approach Shiyu Bai openly. But the girl lowered her head expressionlessly, focusing on building the model.
“You ask. I can.”
Huh?
She was confused.
Is the sun rising from the west today?
Usually, she clung to him like gum, impossible to shake. Now he offered help active, and she was indifferent?
“Are you stupid?”
She waved a hand in front of Su Niansheng’s face.
Su Niansheng: “If you waste more time, we won’t finish.”
“Right, right!”
As the bell rang, many scrambled to sit around Shiyu Bai, eagerly asking about model building. He answered patiently one by one—only…
He waited for the usual lively, clear girl’s voice that always surrounded him—but it never came.
Forty minutes in, he finished first—a cruise ship, luxurious with exquisite details. The teacher praised it, holding it up to show everyone.
“Everyone pause and admire Shiyu Bai’s work.”
