    Chapter 624: The Warlock’s Lies

After scheduling a meeting time with the agent, Jesse couldn’t go far in the next couple of free days. Traveling to Moonbrook to find Mor’zul was impossible.

So that day, he decided to find a hidden spot in Elwynn Forest to test the spells he brought from Kalimdor.

Dethmoora’s purple demon bag was much sturdier than the green one he picked up from an orc in Duskwood two years ago. Jesse couldn’t tell what leather it was made from, but it survived inside an Ered’ruin’s belly for so long without damage, even the patterns were intact. It was no ordinary item.

This time, he put the bag with the Soulstone, the pouch holding Kodo hide spell scrolls, and two Mana Potions from Ursula inside. He had Saenor hide in it to guard these items. That afternoon, after visiting the registration office, he brought Molofeel to Goldshire.

After finishing the Mageweave tattoos on Molofeel in the basement, her height increase wasn’t an illusion. Comparing her in the room, Jesse felt she was about 1.7 meters tall, almost as tall as Vereesa.

But Jesse was nearly 1.8 meters now, so she was still shorter. Her long, slim figure, with long legs and curved ankles, made her seem taller. Jesse was relatively thin among humans, but next to Molofeel, he looked like a barbarian.

The glowing tattoo flames in the basement made her size seem intimidating. Even at 1.7 meters, she was much taller than when she first left Stormwind for Kalimdor.

Jesse remembered in the game, as a character leveled up, pets grew larger, like hunters’ companions or warlocks’ minions.

Here, Molofeel didn’t grow automatically with his strength. But Jesse recalled the incubus Gakin summoned was shorter than the one Surena summoned, Gacresse. Back then, he thought the size difference among Sayaad showed their power gap.

Molofeel was stronger now than when she left Stormwind for Kalimdor. She casually went invisible, and Jesse struggled to sense her with Detect Demon—only a faint shadow remained.

This gave Jesse a slight sense of crisis.

In Eldre’Thalas’s dungeon, his Detect Demon failed for the first time on a real demon, but that was due to Dethmoora’s good disguise. Now Molofeel challenged his ability, making him uneasy.

Leaving the Trade District, he circled the inner gate to the Valley of Heroes. The tall armored knight statue startled him.

He was used to this empty, war-torn path and almost forgot the game’s Valley of Heroes.

Ahead was the statue of expedition leader Turalyon, seeming taller than in the game.

Jesse barely reached its feet. He walked far toward the bridge to see it fully.

Turalyon’s statue looked young, with gilded long hair. One hand held a sword to his chest, the other cradled a thick tome at his waist. He bowed his head, eyes closed, as if thinking.

The other bases were empty, but this one alone gave the Valley of Heroes its grandeur.

As a warlock, the Holy Light sigils on Turalyon’s armor made Jesse uncomfortable. Even after walking to the outer gate, he felt the statue was warning him.

The base west was meant for Alleria Windrunner’s statue, Turalyon’s wife and Vereesa’s elder sister.

If he ever met Turalyon, it would be like knowing an acquaintance. The thought made Jesse raise his eyebrows.

When he first arrived here, he never expected to meet someone like Turalyon, or Sylvanas Windrunner, Silvermoon City’s Ranger-General.

Unknowingly, he had come this far.

Outside the city, Jesse led the two demons toward Goldshire, then left the road into the deep forest.

Molofeel felt safe enough and dropped her invisibility. Jesse looked at her—slightly taller, tattoos covering her upper body, face a bit thinner. Each change was small, but together, she seemed like a different demon.

"Try to charm me, Molofeel. Show me how much your magic grew," Jesse said. "Charm me, ask any question, see if I answer truthfully. Remember, whatever I say, drop the magic afterward."

"Understood, Master," the succubus said, smirking as she pointed at Jesse. He felt a sudden heat from heart to head, like excitement, then a rapid heartbeat…

He almost forgot the feel of being charmed. After the sensations, he realized it was charm magic—he should’ve sensed it sooner…

When he snapped back, the succubus had asked her question. What was it?

"Who is most important to you, Master?" Jesse glanced at her. "Of course… you."

He smiled, and Molofeel’s face turned cold.

The magic released. Jesse gasped, freed from the suffocating mental pressure. Molofeel’s mental strength had grown a lot, and this was right after the tattoos; it would improve more.

He calmed himself, pushing Molofeel’s control from his mind. "What? Not happy with that answer?"

Molofeel murmured, "An easy lie. You’re provoking me."

Jesse chuckled. "I’ve always wondered—is it that simple to spot my lies?"

"Sometimes simple, sometimes unclear," she said, a hint of pride. "But you’ve learned to hide lies with emotion, Master."

"Okay, we’ll talk later. Now I’ll test the Death Coil spell," Jesse said, loosening his bag. "Starting with your demon soul."

"Wait, why?" Molofeel said. "Just a test? What if you succeed on the first try…" Jesse cut her off, seeing her panicked eyes. "How was that? Any improvement?"

The succubus blinked, her eye flames steadying.

"Hah, much better, Master," she replied coldly, a touch reluctant.
