Chapter 592: The East of Doom

"Is the magical clue we have been searching for that demon?" Greed asked.

Vereesa didn’t answer immediately. She looked at the tightly closed door, which seemed like it hadn’t been opened for decades or even hundreds of years. It was covered with dried and overgrown plants of unknown generations of decay and growth. Clearly, she wasn’t sure either.

In the game, the East of Doom is inhabited by a group of Satyr demons and a Blood Elf named Lorthalas who brought an imp to Eldre’Thalas to search for magical remnants.

Lorthalas clearly arrived here after the Scourge, as the Sunwell was not yet destroyed and the Blood Elves had not yet emerged from the High Elves.

Based on previous signs, there are no hidden Satyrs in Dire Maul, but this still needs to be confirmed.

Regardless, the situation in the East of Doom should be very different from ten years later. Jesse found it hard to say whether the place was now occupied by Ogres or if there still existed a group of Highborne or Kaldorei.

Jesse used Detect Demon on the wall to look, but he didn’t see anything. There were no shadows of demons. Instead, the magic aura coming from Molofeel beside him was very glaring. Her power was indeed much stronger than before, especially when she didn’t try to hide her power intentionally.

But Jesse knew that the effective range of his Detect Demon was limited. He asked the succubus, "Can you feel the presence of demons, Molofeel, in this direction?"

"I can’t feel anything, master," Molofeel replied.

"Are you sure?" Vereesa asked immediately, "Are you saying my perception is wrong? The demon summoned by Dethmoora is not among them?"

"I didn’t say that, Quel’dorai," the succubus replied.

Jesse said, "I’ll still go and ask that Ogre Guard. After all, even if there is a demon we’re looking for in the eastern district, we can’t just barge in."

Vereesa nodded, Jesse looked at the pair of elves and demons who had almost fought not long ago, making sure they had no further dispute, before looking towards the two Ogre Guards not far away.

One of the Ogres was already looking in their direction, curious about what they were talking about here.

Jesse walked over and greeted in a common language, but the Ogre did not respond.

"Sorom Kal." Jesse greeted in a formal way in Orcish language, while the Ogre bowed and replied in a common language, "You know the tribe’s language, pink skin, very funny, very curious."

"I learned some things in advance and prepared for your competition, now it comes in handy." Jesse said, "Since you know the common language, let’s communicate in common language."

"King Gordok won’t let me answer questions." The Ogre said, "No language is allowed."

Jesse scratched his head, and Molofeel came over.

    "You will answer," she said.

"Oh, yes, I will answer." The Ogre nodded.

"You can’t answer!" Another Ogre Guard punched him and said, "You disobeyed the king’s order."

Molofeel looked at another soldier and said softly, "You have more foolish things to do than causing trouble here, don’t you?"

"You’re right, miss, I need to go to the toilet." The Ogre Guard, who was still angry, suddenly deflated, shook his head, and walked off in the other direction.

Jesse walked towards the distant sleeping warlock, and looked towards the ogremage on the high wall of the arena, making sure they did not notice what was happening here.

"I wonder why you don’t want my help in this situation, master," Molofeel said.

"Because it would be a waste of magic," Jesse replied. "In the end, it would still cost me."

"That’s true," the succubus smiled slightly, raised her eyebrows and said softly, "Ask away, master, he is being more honest with you than Vereesa Windrunner now."

Jesse glanced at her, then looked at the Ogre in front of him and pointed to a giant wooden door not far away, asking, "What’s behind that?"

"The eastern part of this city, very large, with skilled architects and gardeners," Ogre Guard said blankly. "The elves are guarding the inside, but they are struggling. When the big tree inside falls asleep, we will kill them, so more Gorduni can move into the city, which is great."

"How many elves are inside?" Jesse asked.

"I don’t know," the Ogre replied. "Maybe ten, possibly fewer. Our soldiers who went in before were eaten by the plants inside. The elves have allied with the plants and the plants listen to them. We are not foolish to keep sending our comrades to die. We need more Gorduni allies to arrive before we launch another attack."

"Are there demons in the east?" Jesse asked.

"A demon?" Ogre said, "No demons seen, none to the east."

    "Satyr?" Jesse asked.

    "What’s that?"

"A creature with long horns, covered in fur, about this tall." Jesse gestured as he spoke.

"I’ve never heard of such a monster," Ogre said.

Jesse nodded and asked, "How do I get to the east?"

"Through the side gate over there." Ogre pointed to an upward path behind him, "Soldiers guard that area…"

Jesse had wanted to ask about Dethmoora, but Molofeel quietly warned, "The two-headed mage is coming, master."

Nodding, he said, "Let him return to his original form."

Succubus nodded and gently tapped her finger, a faint sound of Shadow Power echoed, Ogre looked at Jesse and said, "Don’t stand here staring, pink skin, King Gordok’s advisor is very clever. He believes that if I answer your questions, I will be punished. So, I won’t answer your questions. Leave now, or I will strike you."

Jesse ignored him and returned to Greed’s group, conveying Ogre Guard’s words. Vereesa said, "I just tried using the spell taught by the Reliquary. Damn it, I can truly sense Dethmoora’s magic traces from behind the eastern door, very clearly, much clearer than the ones at the Maraudon entrance."

"But Ogre’s words match what Succubus said, Vereesa," Greed remarked. "There are no demons inside."

"Is it possible that you are both right," Jesse pondered. "There are traces inside, but unrelated to demons?"

"We’ll find out when we enter," Greed replied.

Vereesa remained silent, Jesse looked at her and said, "Anyway, let’s go inside first. Ogre mentioned remnants of elves inside, let’s see if they are willing to communicate with us. He also mentioned the presence of ancient trees, so we need to be cautious."
